  1. Nobody ever thought a four team playoff would diminish the regular season. It's more the 8 team and especially the 16 team that would diminish it. 16 is too much, but I think the regular season matchups between the teams competing for spots would still have a ton of meaning. That aside, I find that the games this year feel like they have more meaning when the field is 4 instead of 2. If we were in a BCS format right now, the only thing that would matter would be MSST and FSU's games until/unless one of them lost. Now we have several games per week that are impactful and important This year has less undefeated teams than typical at this point in the year. Last three years their were 5 undefeated teams in the championship picture at this time. So their games "had meaning" In addition to all the one loss teams with a chance should the unbeaten falter, like Auburns games last year. So no having 4-6 games relevant in the national championship picture has been the norm and is not unique to the 4 team playoff. Stop acting like this thing is giving you something you didn't already have. The issue I have is that this 4 team thing has completely subsumed college football as it was. In the media or here on this board or anywhere else the only thing that seems to matter anymore is this playoff. How many games this week have conference championship implications? It doesn't matter becaue winning your conference only means something if it can be used to solidify your resume for the playoff. All this has done has made ESPNs colonization of your college football experience complete. You now only view the sport through the lens of a 4 team playoff. Next year 8. America asked for 8!
  2. Lebron looks silly there but we know he's a great defender and we know everybody else on that team isn't. It's probably hard for him to be expecting quality team defense and this is hat he gets. Look at everybody else in tht gif. Love is parked in the low block and makes no attempt to step up when Aldridge penetrates forcing the guy on Wes to close out. Kyrie and Love are just standing there next to each other. Irving especially looks clueless. Lebron is not trying in that play. But the other 4 guys are trying and looks really really bad. Blatt and Trestman. Don't hire coaches who are coaching 5 talent levels below your league.
  3. I'm sure the cavs will get better. But this team doesn't seem to have the intimidation factor of the 2010 heat despite the common slow start. I don't know if they will ever learn to defend. I'm not sure this dude Blatt can coach. The 2010 heat beat the bulls via suffocating defense. This big 3 is more like run TMC than the heatles.
  4. lol, wut? Name them I'm exaggerating. They beat k state because k states kicker blew the game, South Carolina could have beaten them and they beat ole miss on a snapped leg.
  5. The committee loved arizona states home OT win over Utah.
  6. I'm already pissed and they didn't give the rankings yet. Are these clowns aware that TCU and Baylor played each other? I would take 15 teams over auburn and mississippi state.
  7. Since Oct. 6, 2013, Florida has gone 4-10 with a loss to Georgia Southern. They've not been playing good football under Muschamp for a long time now until yesterday. Sure, they played great against a Georgia team that inexplicably couldn't stop the run even though Florida didn't even bother to pretend they wanted to throw the ball. However, that doesn't erase these stats: vs Alabama: gave up 672 total yards; gained 200 total yards vs Tennessee: gained 232 yards and scored 10 pts against a team likely to finish .500 or worse vs Missouri: 6 turnovers including each of a kick, punt, fumble and INT return for TDs Those aren't flukes. Those are examples of Florida playing very bad football. One game doesn't change that. I think Florida is an ok team. They beat Tennessee and Kentucky and should have beaten LSU. Then they destroyed Georgia. Yes they were destroyed by Bama and had a disaster game against mizzou. They have had such horrendous QB play the last two years it's been impossible to be consistent hence the 4-10. Prior to that they had a great season en route to a sugar bowl birth. They are about as good as I think they are. Ok and gangrenous to even the best teams if they play well. We will see how good they can e when they play FSU.
  8. Florida is not bad. Running for 500 yards against a team is not a fluke. They physically destroyed Georgia. A fluke is losing 42-13 to a team that gained 100 yards of total offense. Florida has a ton of talent and when they dont play Driskel or shoot themselves in the foot, they are a pretty good team. They should have beaten LSU if it werent for a million things, notably a late conversion of a 3rd and 25. If florida beats USC they will be 5-3 in conference with the tiebreaker over Georgia. If Mizzou wins any of their 3 remaining games they win the division, if they lose all three (they probably wont but they could) then Georgia wins the division. Whether they are good or bad doesnt change the fact that they are in the hunt. They will finish 1st or 2nd in the division, Thats in the hunt.
  9. The officiating in that final game to ensure that wouldn't happen would be epic. Thats not an outlandish scenario. The only upset is LSU beating Bama at home, which is not outside of the realm of possibility. Also not outside the realm of possibility is Florida representing the SEC east in the SEC championship game. You could have an LSU-Florida rematch for the SEC title. Need some help from Mizzou, but Florida is absolutely in the hunt.
  10. I love that they are making a big deal out oft hge redskins team bus being in a fender bender. As if these guys arent simulating high speed car crashes 100 times a game.
  11. This is definitely a down SEC. Got a lot of good teams but nobody is consistent. The SEC champ, assuming it comes from the west should get in nobody else. Bama now controls it with home games if they are able to beat LSU next week. if Bama wins out they are the best team in te country. If LSU beats Bama at home and then Bama wins out, and ole miss beats miss state then the sec west will be 5 2-loss teams. That would be a fun tiebreaker.
  12. We just need Bama to destroy mississippi state so brutally that they removed from the equation. There are 20 or so teams I'd favor over miss state which is really dumb ad a 1 this late in the year. And seriously they need to consider some players to discuss as heisman candidates because Dak Prescott isn't close to being a heisman finalist calibre player.
  13. South Carolina blew another game in spectacular fashion. That's three of the worst blown games Ive ever seen.
  14. Butch Jones is an [expletive].
  15. So unlucky for Ole Miss. Horsecollar tackles should be any attempt to bring a guy down like that from behind.
  16. There should be no comparisons between those two teams.
  17. Wow was i wrong about Texas am. They are in a dogfight at home vs ULM. Sumlin I turns out is a bad coach that Johnny football and that reciever propped up for a short while.
  18. That continuation call was the worst call I've ever seen.
  19. I want to see a win tonight very badly. I want to see Taj smothering Love. I want to see Gasol look very effective. I want D Rose to make a statement that he's still great. Any contributions from the new young guys would be a bonus. This will be a playoff intensity level game with Cleveland taking a dump last night and chicagos home opener. Obviously the Cavs will improve as the season goes on but I would love to make the statement tonight that we are the better team. This team is so deep. I don't think the Cavs are that great. I haven't been this optimistic in a team since the Jordan days. Very excited for tonight.
  20. FSU is a very good team. Say what you will about jameis and company but vs auburn vs nd vs Louisville when they needed to make plays they came alive. Until somebody stops them (with Winston playing) than I can't say with confidence that anybody in the FBS is better. Louisville was a good road win last night. Nd was a good win. Clemson without their qb was a good win. There shedule to date is not easy and they remain undeafeated. I'm ready for somebody to beat the [expletive] out of Mississippi state. I understand their ranking. But I don't consider them a top 10 team. They got a good win home vs auburn that featured a turnover party. Alabama is going to destroy them. They looked mediocre vs kentucky. They basically had great fist halves against LSU and ATM. They might Even lose at home vs arkansas. The party is over for them soon.
  21. LOL Not only that, but they messed up on the 30 pts/gm. It's supposed to be 20 pts/gm. Bird also did this in '86-'87. Then apparently Jeff Hornacek is PJ Tucker now. WTF?? This is just as bad as the Falcons to London graphic. I can't figure out what it's supposed to be. If that's true than why PJ Tucker? Or did Horny pull of the elusive 20-5-50-40?
  22. I mean yea. Dragic wasn't close to that statline not to mention pj tucker. Did bird really do that 3 times?
  23. I do not think the BCS system did anything to raise the popularity of CFB. It streamlined the national champion and cemented the bowl affiliations. It also maybe raised the importance of winning your OOC games. It did not dilute the season which is CFBs huge advantage over all the other sports. Te rankings were fun as hell. Now they don't matter. Just this committees ranking matters and it only matters up to 4. The season is no longer 12 must win games. And the level of subjectivity in the formula has gone from 600 people and a dozen computers to 12 people. Now we have 4. Next we will have 8. Then we will drop an OOC and have 16. We are dilluting the importance of 50 or more games to consolidate interest in 4 or 5 games to crown a champion we never needed.
  24. FSU is only -3.5 tonight at Louisville. I guess the powers that be like Louisville a lot tonight. I don't think FSU is that great but man that seems like a tight spread facing a mediocre offense like Louisville.
  25. What do you mean when you say "worked"? If you mean incredibly financially successful, I agree. But if you mean determine the best team, I don't. I think they can do both, but in general I dislike big time college athletics. It is exploitative and not beneficial for students or faculty. By worked I mean: really enjoyable to follow as a fan. Obviously that translates to the exploitation and popularity and financial stuff you reference. Those are thins that will exist to a degree regardless of postseason format. Ultimately it's the financial aspect that will drive the playoffs as it drove conference realignment. Both of which I felt was not needed.
