  1. You are missing the point apete. College football would need a bigger playoff to properly crown a champion. It just doesn't need to crown a champion. That's not the purpose of college football as a whole. Conferences can crown champions. We don't need a crowned champion. Arguing about who the best team is worked for 100 years and still would work.
  2. Probably not. This window is gonna close real fast. Outside of Cleveland and Portland I think we have the longest window of the current contending teams.
  3. Unbelievable that he's become quicker and more agile with professional training? Also, to David's point, that's spot on. Doug's defensive positioning was usually quite good, and we never got a chance to see him defend on the perimeter since he was matched up against mostly 4's in college. I totally believe a guy can he quicker with his first pro offseason and working with top level physios and better diet etc. I just thought it's odd that he was asked to not play hard on defense by his dad the coach. Aaron Brooks has a +25 in 24 minutes last night. Our second unit crushed their second unit. A three way combination of a having a great second unit them having a bad second unit and D Fish being an idiot.
  4. If that's true that next to unbelievable. That his dad told him to not use quickness of defense. I think Doug looked really good. How much did he play of His 25 minutes against the knicks starters? The knicks second unit was a disaster. You can reall tell fisher has zero idea how to coach an nba rotation. He let his bench let a game get out of hand and did not use timeouts to keep the game from getting out of control. If Doug can produce that statline on a nightly basis that would be gret for us. It's like have two dunleavys but him being potentially a better shooter. This could limit the reliance on butlers offense to zero. Lookin at the team now, I wonder if it would have made sense to try to move Mirotic for a different stash player.
  5. College football forever was you had to go undefeated to have a shot the 1 ranking. One loss combined with a bunch of other factors and maybe you might have a shot. In a 4 playoff system you obviously can lose a game as an sec team without much consequence, in an 8 team playoff anybody can get in with a 1 loss record for the most part. Maybe two losses as an sec team. To act like that isn't going to reduce the importance of every single week is dumb. To cheapen the thirteen week season for three playoff games is stupid. College football never needed this. It's become a monstrous juggernaut without it and never needed it. For espn to get three more games. Why do you want it so bad. These are probably gonna be matchups we've seen before anyway. We are gonna get auburn ole miss. And the egg bowl and the iron bowl. We saw miss st auburn and ole miss alabama. So we at gonna cheapen the regular season (I hate even calling it that) so that you all can watch mike tirico hand out a playoff trophy sucks ass. Why do you want this. The old way was one huge 13 week sudden death single elimination college football orgy and you are replacing it with condeleeza rice. Oz never gave nothing to the tin man that he didn't already have.
  6. Literally every other major American sport has an overly inclusive playoff system. We can't just have one that isn't? They would never go past 8 because of the additional number of games and all that. If you don't think an 8 team College Football playoff wouldn't be fun as hell to watch, then you're a communist and hate puppies. The seven playoff games would be fun, sure. Playoff games are always fun. Would it be fun enough to make up for the loss of some of that week-to-week tension generated by the exclusivity of a small playoff? I don't think so, though obviously I'm in the minority. The idea of any contender automatically having a mulligan no matter how bad the loss is, and most SEC contenders probably having 2, plus the loss of any real reason for any power-conference fan to care what happens in any other power conference because they'd all have auto-bids for their champions, doesn't seem very much fun to me. I agree with whAt this man andy thinks 100pct.
  7. Literally every other major American sport has an overly inclusive playoff system. We can't just have one that isn't? They would never go past 8 because of the additional number of games and all that. If you don't think an 8 team College Football playoff wouldn't be fun as hell to watch, then you're a communist and hate puppies. If you think they are gonna stop at 8 you are crazy.
  8. Literally every other major American sport has an overly inclusive playoff system. We can't just have one that isn't? They would never go past 8 because of the additional number of games and all that. If you don't think an 8 team College Football playoff wouldn't be fun as hell to watch, then you're a communist and hate puppies. I would accept the following: A six team playoff of the power 5 conference champions and a single at large team. The playoff committee can choose the at large team and seed the tournament (give the byes). That would be fine. The AP can still crown it's own mythical champion.
  9. To be honest, I've never cared that much when Tennessee won any bowl other than the title game. Sure it's cool to see my team win and I'd love to see Tennessee start getting back to bowl games, but it's not because the bowl games are/were particularly meaningful. They're as meaningful now as they ever have been - a chance to see your team one more time in an exhibition game. Anything the NCAA does to make the postseason format actually mean something and not just be a meaningless series of exhibition games is good. We can debate the merits of a selection committee and I would probably fall on the side of there almost certainly being a better way, but a playoff system gives us the best of both worlds - an actual meaningful postseason system while keeping the exhibition games that give lesser teams extra practices and (varying degrees of) more exposure. The main problem with th bowls is not their exhibitive nature but the 5 weeks off. That's the bowl systems only problem.
  10. The system was fine before the BCS. There was no need to officially crown a national champion. The BCS was a decent attempt at an egalitarian system. It worked decent at giving us a 1 vs 2 which was never the intent of the bowl system. This fuckig committee of ADs, famous QBs dads, hamhanded attempts at regional neutrality and gender/racial inclusion is dumb as [expletive]. They as a group are stupid. They shouldn't exist. This whole thing is dumb and it's gonna ruin everything. Nothing was wrong nothing needed to be fixed.
  11. I felt like the cotton and the capital one bowls were both usually a feather in a programs cap. Winning the conference and making a BCS bowl wa always a great year. Now it seems like everybody from year end no. 5 to SMU sucked equally.
  12. Achieving a BCS bowl birth was not meaningless. Te BCS bowls were not meaningless and some of the better non BCS bowls weren't meaningless either. The College football season doesn't exist to crown a mythical national champion. The movement to redefine it is dumb and wrong.
  13. But don't you think the playoff ruined the bowls. And also ruined the subjectivity of college football that fostered so much passion and arguments and a then a showdown. It was fine the way it way. I liked the bcs bowl system as well. I now feel like the bowls are also-rans. It kinda sucks. And then having these 12 fucks all of a sudden form a hierarchy of evaluation points? [expletive] these people [expletive] pat Haden. Did you see the beginning of the espn show? Pat Haden had two laptops going. Two. He would do something on one of the laptops and then quickly go to the other. He can't use tabs to formulate his top 25?
  14. i think he won a H2H fantasy week with just todays game.
  15. No because emery already addressed the defensive line in the offseason with Houston and Allen. If Emery liked Shea Mcclellan as much as he did i cant imagine how much he loves the Clemson OLB.
  16. And one more thing. Ole miss deserves credit for the win vs Bama. But if they got into this playoff 3 days after they got suffocated by LSUs it's kinda stupid. Everybody asked for a playoff and we go this bs. And it's effectively rendered the entire bowl system meaningless. The playoff was a bad decision. Especially if it just produces SEC matchups that we see anyway. And yes I recognize that since these teams are all about to play each other the top 4 will shake up but I have a right to be pissed and so I will be.
  17. I take issue with this committee considering Florida state the second best team and notre dame the tenth best team. ND outplayed them at their place. I think a 7 spot gap there is dumb.
  18. I don't have a problem with ole miss being there because they have probably the best win in the country. But Auburn at 3 is a joke. So if Florida state had lost either of the two games they should have lost it'd be the for SEC west teams. That's really stupid. There is zero context to compare the SEC West to the Big 12. You have one game the K state Auburn game and that was a very close game. I hate the committee. Bring back the BCS.
  19. Oh my god this is stupid.
  20. I'm not a massive gators fan. I follow like 15 college teams so when one of those qbs rapes somebody I'm usually able to move forward with the other 14. But I hope hat you say isn't true for all involved. Also we (all the FBS fan community) need treon harris for a shot at the FSU upset.
  21. Written by a Florida State grad. Who decided not to disclose that in this piece. That's not to say his points are without merit, because they aren't, but I find that suspicious. Comparing the coverage of a two year old misdemeanor charge against a DB turned QB to a rape investigation against a Heisman winner is completely disingenuous as well. Thought he was comparing nick Marshall to jameis. Which is more fair but if Johnny football had a rape allegation espn woul have gone nuts SEC network notwithstanding. Marshall was a DB I don't really think that's relevant. Jameis was a redshirt. They are now both star QBs at top teams. But yea the charges are not near apples to apples. I'm actually excited as [expletive] to see this ranking tonight.
  22. I rea te article and I badly want to see the shot charts for every player.

To give that much of a [expletive] about college football coverage benefitting the sec you pretty much have to have gone to a non sec school.
  25. If michigan state is no 5 or better it's a lock that MSU or OSU depending who wins their game will get into the playoff. So that will be interesting to see. I personally feel that TCU and K State should be ranked pari passu with ole miss and auburn, auburn getting a win over k state in a very close game. It would be nice of the playoff voters would put TCU ahead of one of those sec teams.
