  1. Chris Williams just made a completely unnecessary personal foul penalty.
  2. Apparently the crowd noise in Seattle eludes referees from seeing when defensive players are tackled.
  3. Gary Kubiak? I'll shoot a Peter North six-roper if the Rams somehow win in Seattle today, but I don't think there's any chance.
  4. Dixon is going to end up really [expletive] Mizzou over.
  5. Agreed. I recall seeing some sort of big segment dedicated to Barkley when he was in high school. The hype for him was off the charts.
  6. Landry Jones or Matt Barkley: who is the bigger disappointment? GO
  7. I'm more confused that a discussion of Mizzou players with non-existent records led to a discussion about Byrd-Leonard.
  8. After seeing what Jeff Fisher has done with a roster that won two games last season (should have been one), with no defensive coordinator and a good amount of rookies, it appears that Bud Adams is a moron and Tennessee is elbow-deep in [expletive] creek.
  9. Should QB size really be that big a deal anymore? I know it is among scouts, but with the increase in spread offenses and mobile QBs, you're not seeing quarterbacks just drop straight back and try to look over linemen anymore. Now they're scrambling out, moving around and getting out from behind the linemen. At that point, size is pretty irrelevant as long as you can get enough force behind your throws. By the way, I'm not questioning you or anything, it's more that your question caused me to have this thought. Right, I understand how effective he can be when scrambling, but it seems like even when he stands in the pocket he's making strong, accurate throws. Maybe it's been a myth that quarterbacks need to be tall.
  10. I am so tired of the NCAA giving cover to Mizzou. When will it end?
  11. Isn't Russell Wilson like 5-9? How can he be this good?
  12. Moneyball yo. Transfer guards with size and defense are the new fat first basemen.
  13. I can't watch Braggin' Rights but Illini by 10.
  14. Agree. More talk about Self vs. Groce and coach of the year award talk! Self is going to be tough to beat. KU will damn near run the table in conference play and get a No. 1 seed in March. In addition to that, he's going to make Jeff Withey a lot of money. This guy just knows how to coach.
  15. That's what I figured. And geez, who was the last OU quarterback to lose two home games in one season?
  16. Is Blake Bell the next QB1? Assuming he learns how to pass, yes. OU and Mizzou quarterbacks have really fallen off since Bradford and Daniel. On that same note, how does the base view Landry Jones? It seems like a Fiesta Bowl victory over UConn shouldn't be the highlight of your career.
  17. Is Blake Bell the next QB1?
  18. Ooh, Josh McDaniels. Cleveland sure is aiming high.
  19. It was pretty good. Wilbon actually convinced me at the time that Willingham was Bear Bryant. And apparently he's the assistant women's golf coach at Stanford now? What a fall.
  20. I needed an excuse to express how impressed I am by Self's coaching job, but wanted to hedge my bet by mentioning Groce, who I'm equally impressed by. I'm not putting money on this so it doesn't matter, but I was multi-tasking and it was the first thing that popped in my head.
  21. Well, with about 7 +/- HC positions opening up presumably every assistant coach in the league is a "candidate." Also Gus Johnson is a [expletive] idiot when it comes to having actual knowledge about the sports he covers. I guess I'm just astounded that Schottenheimer's name would come up period. This is a guy who yanks Steven Jackson out of the game after he runs for 28 yards on back-to-back carries and calls three straight passes. He's done a decent job developing the Rams offense after Josh McDaniels did everything but chop Bradford's arm off, but I don't think he's good at making mid-game adjustments. I think he's pretty terrible at it.
  22. Like you say, this is oversimplified, mostly because it happens in a four-game sample.
  23. Gus Johnson said yesterday that Brian Schottenheimer is a potential head coaching candidate next season. This would be flabbergasting if it actually happens.
  24. I don't think it's that crazy.
  25. It ranks a gentleman's sixth in Sagarin's ratings. The most interesting thing that will happen is if Self wins Coach of the Year over Groce.
