  1. The Never Enderle Story
  2. I beilieve his actual title is "Executive Vice President for Baseball Operations" for the Rays. Or "The guy who turned a terrible team into a perennial contender in the toughest division in baseball without a huge budget because he's good at his job" of the Rays That'd be him. Him or bust. Make it happen Tom.
  3. I don't want to be too declarative, but if we get Andrew Friedman we might win the division every year for the next 15 years. :hello: I can't imagine he wouldn't at least strongly consider it.
  4. I'll throw my hat into the ring for Andrew Friedman. Would love to see what he and Wilken could do with the extra resources.
  5. Sounds like he all but said that Quade is likely gone and he wants Wilken to stay.
  6. Funny that MLBtraderumors just started a series on the top GM candidates. 7. I'd like to offer the one good BY CRACKY, for all Randy Bush references for the rest of the year.
  8. Exactly how I feel. Words can't express my feelings. asdfjkasdghjfhdgfejqwa

  11. We should move Z to first base. :-"
  12. #Cubs lineup @ #Braves (8/12): Castro SS, Johnson RF, Ramirez 3B, Soto C, Byrd CF, Pena 1B, Soriano LF, Baker 2B, Zambrano P Glad to see the future of the organization in Wittenmeyer's eyes getting another start. Don't want to wear Colvin out
  13. So your contention is that Roy Williams and Sam Hurd are the same or worse than Devin Aromoshadu and Rashied Davis?
  14. Bernstein with a fantastic article on the Olin situation. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2011/07/31/bernstein-bears-break-kreutz-addiction/
  15. Same. Hope he gets back to winning again as well.
  16. Always thought that title belonged to this guy: http://www.nfl.com/player/clintonportis/2505049/profile But, I'll concede it could be a tie. Wow. Wouldn't have guessed that either. Well played
  17. Sam Hurd coming to Chicago as well
  18. Roy Williams is the oldest feeling 29 year old. I would have bet he was almost mid 30's. What I don't understand is how Martz has as much influence as he seemingly has. He didn't do anything last year to justify this much trust/influence in personnel decisions. The season started to turn after his crazy ass playbook was handcuffed during the bye.
  19. CarrieMuskat Carrie Muskat #Cubs expected to deal Fukudome today to #Indians for two Minor Leaguers
  20. The players are losing in the court of public opinion because they say dumb [expletive] when they should be keeping quiet, or they keep quiet when they should speak up to shoot down an issue. That I agree with. Twitter gives way to many players a voice and extremely difficult to portray a united front. Hard to 'win' a labor negotiation when the other side knows you are not a united front
  21. The players haven't had time to review the entire agreement set forth by the owners either. That seemed to be a pretty consistent message from the various NFL players interviewed on NFL Network tonight. Yea, I overstated it in seems. Downside of how quickly info comes out on twitter, rarely does it have time to be vetted through the proper channels. The players seem to be losing in terms of public opinion which is a shame. It's a 10 year deal. I'm more than okay them taking their time to make sure all details are understood.
  22. Sounds like the owners ratified a deal with a lot of points in it that the players never even discussed. Including some language regarding a date in which the players must be re-unionized in order for the deal to be ratified. If that's true, that's a significant violation of US labor law...
  23. It's less than his agent was reportedly asking in 3+per. Oh well I suppose. There seems to be some uproar that Stan badly mishandled this situation, but ultimately I'm fine with it. He was going to be the 5th/6th defender with all the faith they are putting in Leddy's development. Plus I completely irrationally blame him for Vancouver. :D He was a nice pickup for us during the season last year, but nothing to wring our hands about.
  24. Castro's wasn't a mental error. It wasn't an error due to a lack of focus and not keeping his mind in the game. He lost the ball in the sun. It's really the ultimate 'oh well' kind of error. To call him out is not fair to Castro and makes Quade and the Cubs organization look small time.
  25. Let's play guess the opening night lines! It'll be fun you'll see Brunette-Toews-Kane Hossa-Sharp-Stalberg Frolik-Bolland-Bickell Carcillo-Smith-Mayers Keith Seabs Hammer Leddy Montador Lepisto Pretty hard to do. The lack of a true #2 center will continue to be an issue as it would be nice to have Hossa and Sharp on opposite wings. I have Stalberg on the 2nd since that's really the only place his skill set makes sense, but he certainly didn't earn it last year. Maybe Olesz? Not feeling confident about this spot at all. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kruger in there with the fanfare Stan gave last year. Seems to be his spot to lose in training camp. I can't imagine he'd get 2nd line minutes so maybe he would take Mayers spot on the 4th? Tough to do for sure
