  1. True. I guess that's really not that much of a long-shot either because Tampa will probably lose to the Saints and I could see Washington beating the Giants too. Or if the Eagles lose tomorrow or against Dallas, you can win the game against the Bears and still get the Eagles the following week.
  2. lol, fallen off? yah, if INT's is how you measure a good QB, and it isn't. He's first in completion %, second in TD's, third in passing yards. To be fair, passing yards isn't a really good way to measure how good a QB is either. To be fair, Brees is still really good and if you think he's bad you're dumb. I never said any of that. Best we can do now is the 6 seed and a rematch against the Bears the following week. If we're fortunate to beat the Bears, we'd face the Falcons in the divisional round. You can still play the Eagles in the WC round.
  3. I don't remember Hochuli being such a bad ref.
  4. the chiefs have. the bears have shown how you can have a really good record without being a great team. win the turnover margin most of the time, have good special teams, play pretty good defense, don't suffer any injuries. Everything you just mentioned with the exception of the injuries is what makes a team great. And how have the Chiefs accomplished more? They're one game worse than the Bears while at the same time playing in an inferior division.
  5. It's people like you that give Packers fans everywhere a bad rep. Yeah. Having faith in my team sure makes all those other Packers fans look bad. There's a huge difference between having faith in your team and purposely starting [expletive] on a board consisting mostly of Bears fans. Do we have to revisit the GB-CHI Week 3 game thread?
  6. It's people like you that give Packers fans everywhere a bad rep.
  7. Then obviously you do care how it plays out.
  8. Granted on NE, but is giving up 27 points horrible? It's certainly not great, but I think horrible is overstating it. Giving up 27 points at home to an offense that is far from elite is pretty bad.
  9. I'm also curious how much the field conditions contribute to both sides of failure: the front 4 can't get to the QB, and the defensive backfield can't recover in time to close the holes in the zone that passes are thrown to. The Bears should get to installing field turf today, to get it ready in time for the playoff game. I think you're onto something there. Most, if not all of the games where the Bears struggled to get pressure on the QB were home games.
  10. I can see why they do it though. It stems from confidence (perhaps too much) in their front 4, while the secondary retreats into a "bend don't break" style of defense. The deep safeties leave the middle of the field ridiculously open at times, which having an aging and slower Urlacher doesn't help. This defense is almost 100% dependent on the front 4 generating pressure, and for they most part this year they have. When they haven't (NE and NYJ), the results have been horrible to say the least.
  11. Forte has kind of been an unsung hero this year. After today, he is up to 4.4 ypc on the season, which correct me if I'm wrong, would be the highest for a Bears RB over a full season since Neal Anderson in 1989, should he maintain it through next week. Considering he's running behind a pretty bad line and his backup loses 3 yards on every carry, he's having a pretty good season.
  12. These are all moot points because Atlanta is not losing to Carolina in the Georgia Dome next week. Lock of the century.
  13. If the Bears beat the Packers, isn't there no chance that Philly can be ahead of the Bears? No. They could be tied, but the Bears would win the tie-breaker because they beat Philadelphia head-to-head. Exactly. In that scenario, if the Bears win, they are the number one seed because they would have beaten Philly head to head. I think it's different if there's a 3-way tie between PHI, ATL, and CHI.
  14. next thing you know, they're going to win a game when a wr doesn't "complete the process" of a would-be game winning td catch. 20 seconds remaining + best returner in NFL history + a top 3 kicker in the NFL = game not over.
  15. Something interesting I just saw: Matt Forte is the first 100-yard rusher allowed by the Jets in 22 games. Also for next week, Forte needs 22 rush yards to reach 1,000 while Knox needs 40 receiving yards to reach 1,000. I believe it would be the first time the Bears have had both an 1,000 yard rusher and receiver in the same season since Booker and A-Train back in 2001.
  16. So with the time change, the Bears will know by the time they take the field (or shortly thereafter) whether they need to win to secure the bye, assuming they don't clinch before then. And I don't care how bad the Seahawks are, a playoff game at Qwest is nothing to scoff at.
  17. Thank you. I thought I was the only one here who believed that.
  18. I don't see Cutler sitting out. Lovie takes pride in beating Green Bay and isn't going to roll over. Did you forget 2006 that soon? With the number one seed wrapped up the Bears played Grossman all of like 3 series and then gave the keys to Griese I think. Yeah and right now the Bears don't have their seeding wrapped up. They still have the #2 seed and a bye week to play for. You honestly think Lovie won't play for that? :-k I'm pretty sure SW was pointing to the Eagles losing Tuesday night, which would seal the #2 seed for the Bears and might prompt them to start Collins. If the Falcons lose tomorrow though we'll technically still be alive for the #1 seed, even though there's no way they lose to Carolina. I think Cutler starts regardless.
  19. I think we can beat them, I would just rather not deal with all the media hoopla and fans trash-talking all week. You would've wanted to deal with it if we win. It doesn't really have anything to do with the outcome of the game. I just don't feel like watching ESPN inevitably make a big deal about the rivalry and in the process have fans go at each other all week. Just seems easier to get the bye and then have an ordinary playoff game against the Eagles the following week.

  21. As for avoiding GB, I think the Saints losing their final two games is more likely than Philly losing one of it's games, considering the opponents. The nice thing about next week is that all the relevant games are at noon, which means TB won't be eliminated before their game with the Saints. Ideally the Packers and Giants both lose while TB wins, giving NO and TB the WC spots and the Bears a 1st-round bye.
  22. #2 seemed a lot more likely before Kitna went down. Some guy named Stephen McGee will not lead Dallas to a road win in Philly, although I'll admit he didn't look too bad last night. Just like Matt Flynn wouldn't have a prayer in Gilette or Drew Stanton was doomed against the Bears. Or Webb...oh wait, nevermind on that one. Yeah it can happen. Just trying to say at this point the most likely scenario looks to be Bears-Packers two weeks in a row.
  23. wtf? why? Saying I don't see anyway we win was going a bit overboard, but I still don't see it happening. Even though we'll most likely be playing for a bye, the Packers are at home and will be much more desperate for a win. I will say this though...I do think things are clicking more (at least offensively) now than they were in Week 3 when we beat them.

  25. Yes, unlike MLB. Dallas and Philly played in the first round last year.
