  1. Didn't Z have a similar injury in 2009 and was back and completely fine within 3-4 weeks? EDIT: It might have been 2008.
  2. Next up for the injury-riddled Cubs will be the Milwaukee Brewers, a team the Cubs have pretty much owned the past 4-5 years. Throw in the fact that their fans are most likely still riding the Packers SB win, and it makes a sweep all the more necessary. The Cubs will send Big Z (0-0, 4.50 ERA) to the same mound where he made history 2 and 1/2 years ago. He will look to eject the Brewers just like he did this ump, only without a creepy smiling Lou in the background. http://static.sportressofblogitude.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/carlos-zambrano.jpg and he will face... A very mediocre Randy Wolf (0-1, 13.50 ERA) http://www.doubledogmusic.com/images/2006/wolf_and_pierre.jpg GO CUBS!!!
  3. And be between 10 and 20 runs worse in the field. Doubtful. DeWitt is a 3rd baseman playing a position higher up on the defensive spectrum and getting awful reviews from all involved. Barney is a defense-oriented shortstop playing down the defensive spectrum and getting great reviews. What am I missing? Hmm that's true, but the fact still remains that Barney should not be on an MLB roster. 100 points of OPS is a pretty shallow estimate.
  4. So is acting like Blake DeWitt is good enough to warrant being upset about starting Darwin Barney. I'm pretty sure he'd OPS a good 100 points higher over a full-season. And be between 10 and 20 runs worse in the field. Doubtful.
  5. Truly, a great injustice has be corrected. Darwin Barney getting regular starts is indeed an injustice. So is acting like Blake DeWitt is good enough to warrant being upset about starting Darwin Barney. I'm pretty sure he'd OPS a good 100 points higher over a full-season.

  7. Because Nady is merely a shell of his former self.
  8. What? He was horrible last year. An ERA over 8 as a starter with a WHIP around 2. He was slightly better in the bullpen but not much.
  9. I think I'd like this more than Diamond. There aren't a whole lot of better options right now.
  10. We'll be fine here. I don't see either pitcher missing more than 3-5 starts, which means that's 6-10 games where we'll have to use Coleman and whoever else. Not a big deal. I suppose Cash and Wells could be out longer, but more than anything these sound like precautionary moves made at the beginning of a long season. Thank God neither injury is considered serious.
  11. LOL SILVA. If he had just shut his mouth, he would have been the #4 starter after 5 games.
  12. What the hell difference does it make if there's a thread for updates on an injury?
  13. Totally ruins this day. Post any updates here.
  14. Soriano is in one of his zones. Too bad it will probably end by the weekend.
  15. Final line for Cashner: 5.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO Please be okay.
  16. Of course with Wood and Prior still fresh in Cub fans' minds, it's completely normal to expect the worst. I think he'll be fine though. I hope.
  17. No walks in 5 innings is easily the most encouraging thing about Cashner's start thus far.
  18. I don't care how bad this team may be, Castro alone is enough reason to watch every game.
