  1. I heard that Todd Heap guy is a FA.
  2. :banghead: Does anyone else get the impression that the Bears think they can just run scrubs out there at the skill positions as long as they have a good QB and line? Wouldn't be surprised if they refuse to give Forte his money next year.
  3. Just noting that JA's last three notable free agent WR signings have been Muhsin, Brandon Lloyd (who is supposedly good now), and Marty Booker. That's a whole lot of mediocre. At this point I'd almost do flips over Sims-Walker. No Brad Smith please.
  4. I bet this makes Idonije a sad panda. I sure hope we get at least a couple decent pieces considering we're so far under the cap. WR is a must. We've all been patient waiting for JA to rebuild both lines but the time has come to get Cutler an actual target out there. I say Rice, Edwards, Sims-Walker in that order. Anyone else would either be a bad idea or just more of the same with the exception of Holmes and MAYBE Santana Moss.
  5. That would have meant February 2013 before they are dethroned (barring a repeat) as the current world champions of the NFL. That's way too damn long for me. It has been kind of nice that the lockout has taken some of the spotlight away from them though.
  6. Castro now hitting .327 with an .801 OPS. :hello: Imagine where he'll be if/when he learns to walk and hit for power.
  7. Problem isn't 9 games back or behind 4 teams. It's being not that good of a team. You don't have to be a particularly good team to win this division.
  8. If we were to somehow sweep the Yankees, I'm pretty sure just about everyone would be drawn back in. That said, the problem I see is not that we're 9 games back, but rather that 4 teams are in front of us, not 1 or 2.
  9. What has gotten into Reed Johnson this year? OPSing 1.075 in 69 ABs, including a 1.119 OPS against righties while having an extraordinary amount of RBIs with 21. Small sample size of course, but can't say I saw this coming from a guy that most people, including myself, thought was done. He's already passed his HR and RBI totals from last year in 1/3 of the ABs.
  10. Soriano comes back tomorrow right? I'll take bad defense and a decent bat over bad defense and no bat (DeWitt). Still going to be extremely tough to get back into the race, but at least we're getting some guys back. Just take it one day at a time and see where it goes. I'm attending my first game of the year on Thursday, please keep the sweep in order and win tomorrow.
  11. Best performance by a Cubs SP this year and we offer zero run support. I'm very surprised.
  12. At the time it was. Dempster has gotten progressively worse the last three years, a trend that looks well on its way to continuing this year. Still a solid pitcher, but not even close to being a #1 like the management would probably claim.
  13. I ask because I really don't know: Why is Campana nothing special with the bat? He's hit well above .300 in his last two minor league seasons. I've never seen him play before he came up. Is there something that suggests he's a medicore hitter? It depends on who you ask. Most will probably tell you though that .300 doesn't mean much when you have zero power and an OPS barely over .700 in the minors. That said, his SB ability makes him more valuable than a normal player with that OPS.
  14. While Campana is nothing special with the bat, it sure is nice to have a legitimate base stealing threat for a change.
  15. Yeah they're pretty intense. As a big fan of spicy food I find one or two Blazin wings to be somewhat enjoyable, but after that it's just all burn and no flavor. Same goes for Wild, which in my opinion I don't find to be whole lot less hot than Blazin. Mango Habanero meanwhile has a great flavor and the perfect amount of spice, for me anyway. Oh and also, BWW > Hooters. Incase that hasn't already been established.
  16. Win a game, lose a game, win a game, lose a game. I guess that means we win today. Wells won't have to do much to be better than what's been pitching in his place lately.
  17. I've had most of them, and it's Mango Habanero in a landslide.
  18. Yeah the entire month of June looks ridiculously hard. Although within another week or so we should have all of Wells, Garza, and Soto back. Unfortunately I don't have much confidence that they'll find someone who won't be terrible in the 5th rotation spot until Cashner comes back, which hopefully won't be any later than the ASB. I think this is at least an 85-win team with a healthy rotation.
  19. I've already seen more than enough of Mike Quade. Z was at 118 pitches in the 6th with two on and Quade leaves him in. Naturally, the Red Sox score seconds after.
  20. The main thing holding back Knox is his route running and those inexplicable plays where he seems to have no idea what play has been called.
  21. Not many, and Knox is a #3 WR at best. The best anyone can hope for in the later rounds is a Marques Colston (7th round) or a Miles Austin (Undrafted), but guys like that are extremely rare. Let's not forget about Andy Fantuz. At 6'4" he would easily be the Bears tallest WR, therefore if he's any good at all he'll probably make the roster. I'd like to bring in someone like Sidney Rice anyway though.
  22. Also let's try Soriano in the 3-hole while putting Castro and Barney back at 1-2, shall we? Castro + Barney + Soriano = quite a few 2 and 3-run HRs. Of course by the time they do this Soriano will be swinging at balls in the dirt and completely cooled off.
  23. Soriano now tied with Braun for the MLB lead in HRs with 10. Hard to get upset over a .278 OBP when he's single-handedly won us the last two games.
