  1. I find that hard to believe, but even if that's true, that's not what I asked. What has made Freeman better than Cutler this year? I assume you're referring to some indirect stat, because what I see is this: Cutler: 1,209 yards, 58.6% comp, 7.15 avg, 6 TD, 4 INT, 82.7 QB Rating Freeman: 1,156 yards, 64% comp, 6.49 avg, 3 TD, 6 INT, 74.1 QB Rating Also, TB doesn't have great receivers, but they're still better than Chicago's, especially at TE.
  2. Due largely to the misconceptions that the QB is supposed to "make" the WRs, that a great QB can still succeed behind a garbage line, etc.
  3. We get it, you hate all things Bears. I'm interested though what you mean by "objective measures". I bet it's nothing that can't be explained by playing behind the worst line in the NFL.
  4. Agreed. Funny how lack of pressure almost always coincides with a poor defensive ranking. I think we have more talent at DT this year than last year, but end play has been pretty bad. Peppers and Idonije with only two sacks each, and the backups at that position have been non-existant. And without looking I'm pretty sure we've done nothing at DT since the Atlanta game in terms of pressure, or stopping the run for that matter.
  5. Mark Sanchez > Josh Freeman. Eh, maybe. Sanchez plays with a much better line and receivers. The fact that most people rank both of them ahead of Cutler is ridiculous though.
  6. One thing I think you might be underestimating is Peppers ability to draw a constant double team and how that effects the rest of the line. Yeah, this. I will say though that I'll feel a lot better if it's Melton filling in for Peppers instead of Nick freaking Reed. While Wootton is probable, Lovie acts like he'll be extremely limited with his hand.
  7. Wow I hadn't realized Josh Freeman had been so bad this year. He's already thrown as many picks through five games as he did all of last year. Still a solid QB, but I've always had a feeling he wasn't as great as his 2010 stats indicated.
  8. I don't think it's outrageous to say that the season rests on tomorrow's game. If we take care of business, we get the Bucs next week most likely without LeGarrette Blount, a bye to rest up, and then a game in Philly that now appears a lot more winnable than it once did. 5-3 and the season's back on just like that. Make it happen.
  9. I need someone to make me feel better about this game. With Peppers out, I can see McNabb and company being able to do just enough to give our defense fits, including making our slow and poor-tackling defense try to slow up Harvin and AP. Vikings run defense is still good, which means we'll probably need the screen to Forte on the outside as opposed to pounding away up the gut. Couple that with needing to rely more on the pass, the fact that Jared Allen is a monster, and that our line is a cluster F and you have potential trouble. Earl Bennett practiced fully yesterday and is questionable...we could really use him, especially considering he seems to be the go-to guy on the quick drops, which there will probably be a lot of to minimize pressure. I'm usually an optimist around here, but not feeling it this time. Vikings 21 Bears 17
  10. Broncos are looking to deal Brandon Lloyd. I'm not saying... I'm just saying.
  11. Apparently Earl Bennett is alive and practiced today.
  12. Chris Harris was a 6th round pick. I'd take my chances on the pick despite Angelo's incompetence. Speaking of Harris, why does everyone act like they're done with him after one bad performance? The guy has been a solid safety from the beginning. He'll bounce back. It's the FS position that sucks.
  13. ??? 3rd round, 75th overall.
  14. I'm one of those people who has a strange obsession with needing a material CD in my hand, complete with artwork, lyrics, etc. Metallica would be proud.
  15. It's early, but I'm already giving the South to the Saints. The Bucs showed on Sunday that they have no business winning that division and the Falcons have seemingly taken a step back as well. You're right, the chances of the Bears snagging the 6th seed really aren't that bad. We haven't played well, but keep in mind that our three losses have come against teams with a combined record of 14-1. Packers, Saints, and Lions are clearly the best three in the NFC, and probably all among the Top 5 teams in the NFL. 9 or even 10 wins is not out of the question yet, and by looking at the schedule you'll see why...really soft toward the end. People just need to relax, we're losing to amazing teams. If we lose this Sunday then everyone, including myself, will hit the panic button. Should we grab the 6th seed, our likely opponent will be the 49ers or the winner of the East. Maybe Rex. :stickman:
  16. This is a great list highlighting Angelo's failures. Couple notes though... Joshua Moore is not on the team anymore, Henry Melton is a starting DT now, and Zack Bowman hasn't started since the beginning of last year. My god the 2010 draft was atrocious. J'Marcus Webb is the highlight of that draft. :-&
  17. It's too bad nobody cares about kickers. Statistically we have one of the best in NFL history. Makes it look easy.
  18. Cutler finished with a 99.6 QB rating, which keeps alive his undefeated record when posting a rating over 100, barely.
  19. Have to get to the bye week at least 4-3. While tonight's game is arguably the toughest of the next three matchups, a win makes the season outlook a lot brighter. That said, this team can and should beat both Minnesota and TB.
  20. Carimi's injury has been pretty well-documented. Slightly dislocated knee, the same injury he suffered in college. Expected to miss anywhere from 3-6 weeks. Bennett is the one I'm worried about. We've gotten nothing more than "chest injury". He's been out almost a month now with no additional info about the injury and no timetable for his return.
  21. Everyone is expected to go tonight except Bennett and Carimi. Spencer and Wootton are both probable despite having broken hands.
  22. Having sole-possession of first place is not enough motivation to root for the Bears? No with you it wouldn't be, would it?
  23. I never thought I'd actually have to decide which of the Cardinals or Brewers I hated more, but I guess I do. Go Cards. :banghead:
  24. Another instance of Jerry downplaying his own team's faults. While I do agree with him that Newton played great, the defense was downright pathetic and should not have any blame alleviated. Considering we've had a history of containing much better QBs like Rodgers and Brees, there is really no excuse for such a performance on defense. I wonder if he blames the offensive line problems on the other defense "playing great".
  25. One time? Cutler has not played well this year. But the receivers and line are the problem and the primary reason why he has not played well. He sailed two balls for picks against GB, one of which was negated by a penalty. Then of course he sailed one for a pick against Carolina on Sunday.
