  1. At this point I rather have Luis Rivas up here than Miles.
  2. Its right up there with the DeRosa signing no doubt. Johnson and Edmonds were decent ones as well. And I really think Soriano was the right guy to bring here, but the contract isn't good at all.
  3. Nice to see Scales back in the lineup. I know some people are growing sour on him, but he still has an .800 OPS and has done a fine job pinch-hitting. Miles should not be in the lineup. Jose Macias>>>Aaron Miles.
  4. First NBA Finals win ever. Yay. Just delaying the inevitable though. Prove me wrong guys.
  5. I'm sure its already been discussed in this thread, but signing an injury-prone player with a bad temper who hits better right-handed than he does left makes no sense considering we were looking for a left-handed bat. What is his career OPS hitting left-handed? Mid-700s? I assume the main reason for not signing Dunn is his defense, yet we put Hoffpauir out in RF? Bradley ain't exactly a gold glover out there either. Hendry is so maddening sometimes.
  6. I could never understand the hate for this guy. Was decent at the plate for us and showed good range in the OF. His arm wasn't good but I think he did enough to makeup for that. On the other hand some people still believe in Felix Pie even though the guy has done absolutely nothing (and continues to do nothing) at the major league level. I know he was a top prospect, but busts happen. And If he ever does turn it around, I'll be the first to admit I was wrong. Sorry I'm getting way off topic here. Boring day lol.
  7. I see Vitters is in a bit of a slump.
  8. Wandy Rodriguez always owns us at MMP, and it won't change especially with the year he's having. Astros 5 Cubs 1 Edit: on second thought, Z normally is good against Houston, I'll say 2-1 Astros although I hope I'm wrong :D
  9. Ahhhhh, what the hell? Why can't Lou see that Aaron Miles is crap? The icing on the cake will come when someone is bumped to make room for Freel. This team will NOT win with Miles, Freel, and Blanco all on the roster at once. We should only have one of those guys at most, preferably none although I can't complain about Blanco's play lately. Miles and Freel can't do anything.
  10. Any chance Lilly goes to the All-Star game?
  11. Andres Blanco looks a lot like Johan Santana.
  12. Meant to say this after the triple, but Lilly is quickly working his way up my list of all-time favorite Cubs.
  13. Jason Marquis already has eight wins, on pace for 23. Lol.
  14. This guy is good. But due to his decent but not great minor league numbers, I'm hesitant to believe he'll remain this good. Then again, Johan Santana has a career minor league ERA of 4.79. The light just goes on for some people at the major league level, lets hope Wells is one of those people.
  15. This guy has the weirdest injuries. Anyone remember his Spring Training 2008 injury? Oh, and yeah he is definitely a bust.
  16. Dunn please. Find somewhere to send Bradley. Hawpe would be good too but I'm hesitant to trust his numbers due to the park he plays in.
  17. Yeah forget what I said about being able to make do with Fontenot at 3B. Either try Fox and hope his bat makes up for the defensive mistakes or trade for someone. Even though Ramirez is scheduled to be back by the ASB there is no gaurantee he will be as effective as before.
  18. Now I know there have been millions of Ryan Theriot threads on this board the last few years and I'm sure his performance has been discussed time and time again in each of them. But seriously, is it possible that this guy really has made a significant improvement to his game? He has a .692 career minor league OPS, which is obviously pretty awful. But he has obviously come a long way since then. Most of you are serious fans who know this already, but this guy has been a different player, at least offensively, since the start of the 2008 season. His OBP increased by over 60 points, from .326 in 2007 to .387 in 2008. He finished with a .746 OPS in 2008 which is okay, but still a step up from his .672 OPS in 2007. Now in 2009 he has the power surge. He is currently on pace for 18 homers when his previous season high was three. His OBP is lower than 2008 but is still at a respectable .355. Now he is coming off one of his best defensive series I've seen in awhile. So the question I have for all of you is...is this all a fluke or has this guy really made improvements? I remember reading threads here in 2007 and early 2008 expressing pure hatred for the guy. Nowadays there doesn't really seem to be a general consensus on him.
  19. We can get a run off a guy with an 8.10 ERA right?
  20. This is the only way Fox would get a legitimate chance at 3B.
  21. Changes need to be made now. Fire someone, make a trade, something. There is no way this team goes anywhere in it's present state.
