    Adrian Cadenas or Luis Valbuena can't be much worse. Iowa has 5 guys who play 2nd base. It won't be long before one of them is up and DeWitt is released.

    which figures considering the spring he had. Len just said Soriano hit 10 home runs last year during spring training. He also added that it was much warmer with a higher elevation.

    Over under on Soriano hitting more the 25 home runs this season. I'll take the under. No homers in 49 AB's now. No extra base hit either.

    At what point do you just realize that Soto and Byrd aren't going to cut it anymore? I cannot remember the last time the Cubs had an offense this bad. Castro is about the only guy you can count on.

    I think they lose 100 no matter what. There isn't enough offense on this team. The pitching overall is fairly good, but if you can't hit and score runs you aren't going to win often. If Dempster is hurt for a period of time things are really going to be bleak. The Cubs need him in the rotation to obviously win games, but they also need him there for trade bait. I don't think the pitching is "fairly good" myself. This team is brutal. When you look at their staff as a whole, starters included, it's not awful. Yes the team as a whole is brutal but they have a solid 1-3 starting rotation. Yes the bullpen and offense is terrible, but Demspter, Garza, and Shark are pretty good.

    I know you are a fanboi, but there is no guarantee that Castro stays at SS. It's certainly way too early to think about moving him, but that day could come. Baez is currently a SS but it's possible he may move to 3B because of Castro. Junior Lake can play 2B even though he's got a cannon of a arm. Vitters appears to be staying at 3B but can play 1B. Marco Hernandez plays SS but can play 2B as well. Those are the options off the top of my head of prospects who can play 3B or 2B. I think Castro at SS will stay as long as the young guys develop.

    I'm ready for the Maholm experiment to be over. How long before Jackson is brought up if Byrd continues to look bad?

    Zero chance they are good this year. 80% chance they are worse than last year.

    The offense sucks. That's the main problem. It won't get better either unless some young guys come up and get hot either. Mark my words. This Cubs team will be worse than last season's. They have a solid 1-3 pitching staff, but their 4 and 5 are awful, and the bullpen is shaky. Then you have the offense which is toothless.
