  1. I think it's a little over the top to say the trade will be "historically" bad if it's just for Grabow, I doubt we have to give up Jackson/Carpenter level pitching prospect. i have read chatter about the pirates possibly targeting lee or castro, which would be terrible
  2. Even though the Royals were facing a lefty, Mark Teahen was held out of Thursday's game against the Orioles. Teahen to the Cubs has been getting some play, and since there's been no word of any injury, his absence could mean that a deal is getting close. With Teahen sitting, Ryan Freel started in right field today and went 0-for-4. i would much rather have him than the trash getting mentioned in pittsburg
  3. The morons going to send Jackson and Fox to the Pirates for these 2 pieces of crap, isnt he? well, color me impressed hendry :oldbluekoolaid:
  4. I would to. I think something along the lines of Mitch Atkins and a 15-20 prospect in the org, is about right for Grabow. But what's weird is that Grabow gets RH hitters (.234/.344/.355/.699) out better then LH hitters (.275 .362 .353 .715) . what's so weird about that!? this has been the MO around these parts for a bit now another stupid acquisition that will be counterproductive towards its intended use
  5. Zack Duke? If the Cubs trade anything of value for just Grabow, Hendry needs to be fired. I doubt Duke would be considered "another pitcher" but I guess you never know. After the Sanchez deal, something tells me that Hendry is going to get hosed. ugh, you think? there is a new boss in pittsburg, and he actually knows what he is doing
  6. 2:21pm: Heyman (via Twitter) thinks the Cubs are getting closer on Grabow, and could acquire another pitcher as well. And...the news just keeps getting worse
  7. Done. eh?
  8. no? you don't call what he did on his lucky wave last year success? all i am saying is that i see similarities in pitching styles between the two i would love to be proven utterly wrong, but i believe if we go into next season relying on wells to help our team as a 4th or 5th starter, he will be exposed
  9. As an ace, no. As a back of the rotation starter, yes. He's been pitching well long enough now to prove that it's not a fluke. i remember hearing the same thing in regards to sonnanstine When has Sonnanstine posted #'s similar to Wells this season, or pitched well long enough to prove that he wasn't a fluke? Through 130 ip's his rookie year he had an ERA over 2.5 points higher than Wells through 96 ip's so far. he still hasn't had a chance to face teams multiple times, only atlanta and houston so far if i am correct i will believe he is for real when he has quite a bit more starts under his belt
  10. As an ace, no. As a back of the rotation starter, yes. He's been pitching well long enough now to prove that it's not a fluke. i remember hearing the same thing in regards to sonnanstine
  11. for lefties why don't we just swing soriano over to center and put fox in left terrible defense...but nice billy clubs
  12. Jake, I am glad to see you have changed your tune since early in the day. Your team is moving in the right direction. I don't think I am the only one jealous over, what seems to be, more competent front office minds than the cubs for sure.
  13. lol...this is hilarious i LOVE the trade deadline
  14. he has been solid, but i still contend that we shouldn't rely on him next season
  15. Yeah, but it's all the front office. We still need to win games. This don't mean [expletive] if we don't win. And, we ain't winning. sorry, i guess i wasn't specific enough. i was talking about the front office. i like what the new GM is doing and i think it will pay dividends. i understand your frustration as a fan, but i think you may be surprised in a few years at the different ball club you watch, and root for, on the field.
  16. just a bit too early for lastings
  17. i don't like this move for philly. i think they shot themselves in the foot when it comes to the playoffs and a one two of hamels and lee
  18. i think we should have a cubs trade proposal thread so all of these priceless little gems are stowed away in one wee package of awesome
  19. he really hasn't had a chance to suck at a healthy level considering he has missed a lot of time lately with back and knee issues sanchez to cubs would make my week
  20. interesting to see Sabean going low and not high
  21. don't they just make you jealous!? i know i am
  22. this is just too much... 2009, the surprises never end
