  1. Wells and Jones over Coghlan??? Hanson will be good/great, but I don't think he was good enough to merit the award. Coghlan is the man, and absolutely deserves the honor. Wells is a flash in the pan, I know I am the only one on this board with that feeling though.
  2. Coghlan is a beast I sure do wish he was on the Cubs All in all, I have absolutely no problems with the winners this season.
  3. defensively he is terrible...i wouldn't mind him...but i also wouldn't mind baker consider me lukewarm, plus he will probably cost more than he is worth after last season's production
  4. right. i agree. think of my prediction as pujols lite. one season of pujols like numbers minus about 30-40 points of OBP and maybe a tad on slugging. One season. I think that is attainable.
  5. next season guys...i am not saying over a career...i am saying a season of numbers comparable to pujols...i do not think that is out of the range of a kid with the talent of votto
  6. Whut. there was something in MLBtraderumors yesterday with that quote from Jocketty about Votto other than that, i don't know what you are confused about Whether or not comparing Votto to Pujols was a joke. no, it isn't a joke if he is well put together next season he will be nasty...i am not saying he is a better player...but i wouldn't be surprised to put up number similar or even better...the kid is a pure hitter
  7. At this point Bradley might be a better pitcher than harang. Well okay, maybe not that bad. But he's still been very, very mediocre the last two years. although, we could have an Ugly Championship Battle between Harang and Gorzellany
  8. Whut. there was something in MLBtraderumors yesterday with that quote from Jocketty about Votto other than that, i don't know what you are confused about
  9. i like how you have laid this out but i really think people are overlooking vitters in this case. i know castro is Mr. Hype right now, but I still contend that Vitters is the #1 prospect in the system, with castro coming in at #2 it seems. Granderson is in NO way worth a top 1 or 2 prospect IMO. If our system hasn't quite reached the point where you can't acquire a player like Granderson without giving up your top boys, you simply pass on the deal.
  10. no problem giving up both theriot and marmol BIG problem giving up either vitters or castro vitters and castro for hanley ? OK
  11. castro or vitters for granderson would be awful
  12. This. People are being blinded by his stellar first half of 2009, but ignoring the rest of his career? He had an ERA of 5.07 and a WHIP of 1.53 in the second half, which is much more in line with his career 4.66 ERA and 1.51 WHIP. Edwin Jackson shouldn't cost anyone more than a a couple fringe MLB prospects. He's not special, we have plenty of guys who can produce similar, if not better, numbers. i am sorry, but i completely disagree with both of you guys. he is young and will continue to develop and mature. he is the goods, or the bees knees if you prefer. marshall and gorzelanny...not so much.
  13. "Oh God, no" - the Reds GM response to trading Joey Votto. lol no doubt...if Votto stays healthy and has all of his *issues* in check next season he will put up numbers to rival the great Albert Pujols me thinks...
  14. harden is frustrating and i don't want him back he will be in a red sox uni come ST, and then i can make fun of my buddy all season long
  15. if castro shows the goods in Spring Training...let him ride...the kid is special
  16. aaaaaaaaaaaand the offseason already starts off with a bust
  17. man, it is so awesome to have young ones to be proud of
  18. this is going 7 folks...get ready for magic...get ready for destiny...get ready for the phillies to repeat in 2009
  19. Phillies in 7 unbelievable amazing best series since what 2001?
  20. I'm sure they don't want to pay his entire salary or give up top flight young talent, but there's no way all the interest is from the idea that the Cubs will pay 80-90% of his salary. Especially after the comments from Ricketts. I already told you guys there was significant interest. I don't know how much we'll get back, but I'm pretty sure we won't be eating 80-90% of the deail On the other hand, Hendry may take back what we perceive to be a bad contract. Eating 20% and getting back mediocrity is still a horrible move. If they can't get the entire salary off the books and bring back serious talent, they can't justify making the move. prepare to be disappointed what you have outlined is absolutely impossible
  21. castron sounds like a transformer
  22. dear lord do i like josh vitters
