  1. I might be miscounting, but 12 pitcher plus the starting 8 position players puts it at 20. 5 bench spots left for Murton, Blanco, Ward, Fontenot/Cedeno/Patterson, and Johnson, no? No "need" to get rid of Murton if they sign Johnson. Am I forgetting someone? My only issue with that is unless you keep Cedeno, you don't have a "real" backup SS unless we've all decided that Dero can do it (which is what I think is the best option, and he should be starting there, but whatever). So keep Cedeno. Hasn't Fontenot been getting time at SS? I think you have your backup SS in Cedeno or Fontenot, whoever they keep. Derosa backs up 3B, with Fontenot/Cedeno playing 2B in that scenario. Ward backs up 1B. Murton backs up RF/LF. Johnson backs up Pie. Then Blanco at C. I don't see the problem.

  3. It's hard to understand what Hendry is thinking at any given time. First he publicly moaned that things would be so much better if Murton were a LHB. Then he starts hunting down RHB platoon options for Pie in CF, most of which are pretty bad options. Then he states that the Cubs need an effected RHB "off the bench". Which of course Murton is. I really don't understand why you wouldn't just play Fukudome, or even Soriano, in CF when you want to sit Pie against LHP. Put Murton in RF or LF those days. Problem solved. The only explination I can possibly think of is that he thinks Murton has more value in a trade than on the bench, but that doesn't explain possibly trading him for someone like Byrd.
  4. how would you see the other chips falling in that scenario (Lieber, Dempster, Marshall)? Lieber in the rotation, Marshall in Iowa and Dempster in the pen? I guess you could put Lieber in long relief or something (with Dempster starting).
  5. What does Dempster's contract look like (I forget and Cot's is blocked at work)? He may be worth more to some teams because of his "versatility" (can pitch from the pen or start, theoretically). I can't remember who make more between he and Marquis, though I'm thinking their contracts are similar.
  6. Davidson to the Final 4 I like Davidson too, but I have them losing to USC in the Sweet 16. I have W. Kentucky in the Sweet 16 and Stanford in the Final 4 (probably not considered a big upset).
  7. I really don't understand why people are so upset about IU at 8. I understand they may have a better "resume" than some of the other teams at 6 and 7, but they have played like absolute garbage for a few weeks now. Honestly, I don't think they are better than any of the teams ahead of them at this point. It's pretty clear they aren't anything close to even resembling the team they were a month ago, and the committee responded accordingly. As and IU fan, I obviously hope I'm completely wrong and they turn it around. I'd love to see DJ and Hansborough match up. As a realist, I can't imagine them even beating Arkansas. Fortunately for IU, Arkansas is also fading lately and may play bad enough to keep IU in it.
  8. Minnesota over NW Illinois over PSU Iowa over Michigan Wisconsin over Iowa MSU over OSU Purdue over Illinois Minnesota over IU Wisconsin over MSU Purdue over Minnesota Wisconsin over Purdue
  9. God I wish Murton could play adequate CF. That would just be too perfect. He couldn't be any worse than Monroe was I wouldn't think.
  10. i'm not certain, but i think the tiebreaker in that case would be their record against the top four teams. basically, whoever has the better combined record against IU, PU, MSU and WISC.
  11. Exactly. But how much is his fault and how much is it the players stubborness? The Sampson "resignation" is one thing, but I think a lot of this has to do with them not wanting Dakich as much as they wanted McCallum. Clearly, the trust isn't there. They beat NW and OSU because of pure talent, and will beat Minnesota and Penn St, and win 2 games in the Big Ten and NCAA tourney's because of talent. But this team has a chance to do something special and is starting to give up. I put most of the blame on the players for this (well, along with Sampson). However, it's time for Dakich to ban the "KS" on the shoes. Either you play for Indiana, or you play for Sampson. If you play for Sampson, you can go shoot around in his driveway, because that's all he's coaching these days. Dakich is a solid coach, but the players clearly are not listening or playing hard for him at all. they were not going to win that game regardless, but getting beat down the court on defense constantly throughout the game is purely about hustle, and nothing else. they can't win road games in the big ten with that type of effort, period.
  12. i'd do it if they are willing to try Derosa or Roberts at SS. if they plan on simply benching Derosa, i wouldn't want to give up that much. ugh...i hadn't posted in this thread for like the last 100 pages. now i feel all dirty again.
  13. gordon is becoming a turnover machine. it's frustrating. DJ still played hard, but i agree there were some defensive lapses. also, DeAndre Thomas is a train-wreck sometimes (often lately). they have absolutely nobody worthy of playing the four. I'm curious to see how Bassett plays the rest of the year if Dakich is really encouraging him to be more aggressive. I definitely agree that should be his mentality. He hasn't been as aggressive as he was last year.
  14. i have the exact same thing. i finally got it checked after a while because it got really bad once when i was on my way back from vegas. it was the same thing you're talking about and my doctor said it was often worsened by a lot of caffiene, a lot of alcohal or a lack of sleep. Doctor: "Have any of these been present in your life lately." Soapy: "I just spent a week in Vegas...so.........yeah." anyway, i notice it more at times when those three things are more prevelant.
  15. I heard about this site in years past. Never used it. http://www.ticketswap.biz/login.asp thanks
  16. I'm looking for tickets in the bleachers for the 7/12 game vs. the Giants. i have 6 tickets in the bleachers on 8/30 vs. Philly and 4 in the bleachers on 9/19 vs. the Cardinals. i would love to simply work out a trade rather than going through the pain have having to sell these and buy the others. if anyone is interested, let me know. more realistically, if anyone knows a site where i can actually trade tickets, please let me know. thanks.
  17. well, i couldn't get any more bleacher seats for the 7/12 game i need so i ended up buy six for the 8/30 game against the Phillies. does anyone have any tips or ideas of good sites to try to work a trade? thanks in advance.
  18. if you end up not using the tickets for 7/12, i might be interested in buying them from you.
  19. finally got in and got 6 in the bleacher july 12
  20. Anyone know what could be wrong??? how many are you trying to get? i think the max is six.
  21. no luck so far. you people are making me jealous
  22. i did but it's just a recording right now (until 10:00 i assume).
  23. Unfortunately, Cintron's career splits are skewed by his career year in 2003. He hasn't had an OBP above .326 against RHP since then. Still, a fair point that if Cedeno is traded/bombs he could be moderately useful instead of Theriot's awfulness against RHP. Yeah, the bad thing is a .326 OBP is still better than what Theriot is likely to do vs. RHP (.318 last year).
