The first thing the Cubs should do is find a leadoff man who actually gets on base. Imagine that! That simply means moving Soriano out of the #1 spot where he doesn't belong. That .291 OBP is awesome. Fuku or Theriot should be at the leadoff position. Theriot's OBP has slipped, however. The second thing they need to do is go after some real bullpen help. Relying on Marmol and Greg isn't going to get it done, and hasn't. Cubs need another solid pen arm they can rely on. It looks like the Cubs might have to go after a SS or 2B, with Theriot defaulting to the other position which player X does not play. That said, the biggest problem the Cubs have is Hendry's inability to create a proper outfield since Sosa/Alou. A huge portion of the team salary is spent on the outfield(close to one third) and the production we are getting is garbage. Is it any surprise that the year the Cubs got closest to the WS in 50 years was when they had an outfield of Alou, Lofton and Sosa?
