  1. I brought this up last week, but Yu can opt out of his contract after the season if he wants. I still don't see it happening, but he's making things interesting for himself.
  2. Going in to today, the RD implied we’ve played 5 wins under where we should be and the Brewers 9 games over where they should be (A FOURTEEN GAME SWING). It’s horsefeathering unreal. the thing that gets me is that it lets brewers fans think they were right about them being good, even though they weren't. that team sucks ass and they're winning games for no real reasons. now we have to spend the whole offseason knowing we'll have a superior roster to them again next year, but they finished ahead of us twice in a row now, so they have these stupid unearned bragging rights. but really the problem here is that i care about another sports team's fanbase. Thank you for being in this with me. It feels comforting knowing I'm not alone.
  3. Thanks, you [expletive]. Now I'm raging. ETA: Wait. Wasn't there a discussion here that RD is not as useful as we make it out to be?
  4. I was going to say the same thing earlier. horsefeathers them going to that weird forfeit lineup the day after we won the first game and horsefeathers them for going with Lester that day. Maybe everything would have gone the same way, but horsefeathers them any way.
  5. I believe he got the rug pulled on him, no way he spent what he did in the offseason going in to 2018 if he knew it would keep us out of last offseasons market entirely. And weren’t the owners in Boston behind some of those big deals? Crawford I think? They hired like a PR firm to dictate targets that would be popular or something. So the take now is that under two different sets of owners Epstein has been ambushed/bamboozled financially? That's some astonishing bad luck. Personally, I think he likes to smell his own farts, figured the team constructed largely as is would be enough, and scared himself off of spending more by his terrible spending from the previous offseason. He knows he's pretty bad at this big FA thing more often than is comfortable. Other than the fart thing, I think you are correct. Theo is still awesome, but Theo has to bounce back in a big way this offseason. And, hopefully, he does it through trades.
  6. Assuming health I think he’ll be fine, not lock down like the past but good enough. He’s still throwing 96+ and has the breaker. I tend to agree.
  7. So, I never thought Kimbrel was going to be great joining so late. But is he going to be fine with a normal season next year or like is he legit not good? I have a hard time believing he's just totally lost it.
  8. Seeing Javy out there makes me forget he can't really play.
  9. Sure enough. This is our Kirk Gibson moment. Let's enjoy it.
  10. Is this a meatball post to say that's what's wrong with the Cubs? He didn't need to hit a dong but that's all he was focused on. I could be wrong.
  11. Man, I really need some of you guys to hate the Brewers for me.
  12. I'm thinking looks wise. ETA: Or maybe what that guy said.
  13. So just seeing this. I know cortisone can be powerful, and I know people don't like our training staff, but how the horsefeathers is Anthony Rizzo back? This is like Kirk Gibson level stuff but he's actually starting.
  14. Well you’re going to hear it because it is partially the reason for falling short. Javy missed the final 6 vs the Brewers (we won 1 of them and they had Yelich for all them). Now no Rizzo too. The injuries I mentioned to all above are a factor, they aren’t the main factor but it’s going to be rightfully brought up. i'm not saying it didn't play a role. i'm saying I dont want it brought up by the organization as an excuse when a)the brewers lost their mvp and b)the cubs should have put the brewers away long before September. we got lucky in the sense that it's going to take less than 90 wins to get a wild card spot this season, and they fugged it up long before the injuries. Theo won't use it as an excuse, because he knows it will come off as an excuse when he and everyone knows it was because the team just wasn't consistently good enough even when healthy. There are going to be changes, and it's going to be more than just the manager.
  15. That will definitely be brought up probably by everyone and the injuries to Hamels, Baez, Rizzo, Bryant, Willy, Kimbrel certainly played a role in likely falling 2-5 games short here. It’s hard to argue they didn’t, I also think turnover is coming and Theo knows he has to do better. I think this is a 100 percent spot on take, word for word. It did hurt, but changes also are coming.
  16. Well, I suppose it's now fortunate for the Cubs that they are playing the Cardinals seven of the last 10 games. The Cubs aren't really winning any series against many teams right now, so at least they still have a chance to get oddly lucky by somehow winning six of seven against the Cardinals and making the playoffs. If they don't, the season is over, but at least they have one final chance.
  17. We are getting a Cubs-Brewers WC game You are close, my friend.
  18. You might have too much faith in professional sports.
  19. They bumped everyone back a game and added Gausman to the rotation for the rest of the year. Nice break for us, also means Gray goes vs the VBs in their series when they would’ve missed him (they also get Bauer or Castillo too in that one). Nice.
  20. I thought we were facing both Gray and Castillo in this series. Did I just imagine that?
  21. Duker was never the same after being wrong last season.
