  1. Nah. I've already tipped my hat to them. I know how this story ends.
  2. There also is going to be a lot of hat tipping to the horsefeathering Brewers in a couple weeks. No, there isn’t As in, you will refuse to tip your hat or because they won't have done anything to tip your cap?
  3. Proud of the Cubs for fighting back on this day. Tough to see your captain go down like that while also watching your pitcher give up five runs.
  4. I know there’s been lots of arguing here about this but every single Brewers game the rest of the season is against one of the 5 worst teams in the NL. So what I’m saying is, it’s going to be hilarious when the Cardinals miss the playoffs There also is going to be a lot of hat tipping to the horsefeathering Brewers in a couple weeks.
  5. The only issue is that this club hasn't really shown the ability to take care of business for any sort of stretch, except maybe that span right after the first road trip.
  6. To be fair, you think the Brewers will end the year by winning their next 14 games. The problem for the Brewers is the only way they win the division is by finishing something like 12-2 because of the 7 H2H games between the Cards and Cubs. They're currently 4% on FG and 6% on 538. BP hasn't updated yet but they jumped 1.4% on FG today and doing that would put them at 3.5% on BP. So they're between 1 in 20 and 1 in 30 to win the division. If they go 10-4, the Cards would have to go 6-8. Well, half of those games are against the Cubs. So unless something crazy happens like the Cards get destroyed by the Nats and DBacks but crush the Cubs, the Cubs are probably winning 4 of those games. So 5-2 against Pittsburgh and Cincy and we end up tied. If they go 9-5, the Cards would have to go 5-9. Now you're looking at the Cubs probably going 5-2 against St. Louis which means 4-3 in those other games gives the Cubs the division. I'm not going to say it's impossible, because they were around 1 in 20 last year at the end of August and they got super hot and tied the Cubs. They were also a much better team last year, that had Yelich, plus a healthy and producing Cain and a lights out bullpen. They don't have those things this year. So sure, if they go nuts the next two weeks, win 11 or 12 of 14 and win the division, I'll tip my cap to them. But they've got no margin for error. Quality breakdown and one who has a better grasp on math then me. Also, your first line is so damn true. Haha.
  7. I also think there is a way all three Central teams make it. What are you seeing out of the Nats right now? Unless you don't live there anymore. Tough, tough sked except for those three against Miami.
  8. I feel like if your main goal is to have the Cardinals not make the playoffs -- other then the Cubs making it - then I don't think anyone can tell you you will regret it cheering against them. However, I don't think St. Louis is sweeping the Nats, but I do see the Brewers sweeping the Padres in all four games, and I see a very good scenario where the Brewers glide by us while we are tying to pass the Cardinals. I think it was better to knock the Brewers back from us by three games.* Any way, I know what I'm trying to say, but I'm not really sure I'm making any sense. And I don't drink so I can't blame it on being drunk. I still say screw the Cubs for not taking care of business last weekend and not even making this as much of a convo. * To be fair, I clearly loathe the Brewers so of course I think it would be better. The Padres and Brewers are pretty even teams, I think the Padres get at least one and probably split. Anyways I agree with the sentiment that I didn’t want a sweep in the STL-MIL series either so that’s accomplished. Ideally we win 3 of our next 4, Cardinals beat Brewers tomorrow and get swept or lose 2 of 3 to the Nats this week and then we don’t need to care as much about the Brewers if they lose tomorrow and Padres get 1 or 2. I hope you are right. You have had some pretty quality calls so far this season. I'd still be stunned if the Padres won a game. Eh, not stunned. But surprised.
  9. you will regret this I assure you I will not. I still think we have a realistic shot at the division and the main thing I wanted this weekend for for neither team to sweep that series. Tomorrow, I care more about the Cubs winning than the result of the other game. And the bottom line is I want the Cards to miss the playoffs and the more they lose, the more likely that is. 10. I dunno when you have Willson behind him, it could result in something meaningful it's not like it's almora behind him. You are right. And that sweet, sweet contact of Nico.
  11. OK. Give Lester a chance to get that all important W, but when he gives up a dong, at least take him out.
  12. To be fair, this is what the Cubs do. Remember that time they were up like nine runs against the Mets in the fifth inning and had to hang on for dear life?
  13. Not to be mean, but they aren't even going to make the not real playoff wild card.
  14. Not sure what the big deal is. Tony Kemp would have done the same thing.
  15. Done. Now Lester has to be inspired by that other pitcher getting a hit.
  16. Weird comment by me I think but.........I didn't feel like Nico ran that one out very hard.
  17. I think we have like 15 guys in the bullpen. Just go to it now.
  18. Does Jon Lester A: Give up a home run to the first batter of the second inning. B: Allow a hit to the first batter of the second inning. C: Walk the first batter of the second inning. D: Watch as the first batter reaches on an error or catcher's interference to start the second inning? E: Get an out before doing either A,B,C, D to the second batter of the second inning.
  19. Honestly, this is just stupid. Also, this is prime 2019 Cubs offense. But I don't give a horsefeathers. Just go for it.
  20. That moment when any Cubs fan who still was for whatever reason holding out hope realizes the last 16 games mean nothing but draft position.
  21. Oh, crap. That, too. We are FanGraph busters. They must be so pissed at the Cubs. So your issue is that you don't understand how Fangraphs projections work? I'm either failing to see what your issue with Fangraphs is or you're being Schwarber Fan levels of meatbally here. Yeah, I was just being stupid.
  22. I don’t think that’s totally impossible, if he finishes in the same manner as he’s been pitching the past two months. He’s been utterly dominant. The next question is, do we want him to opt out?
  23. The season will end the same way regardless.
