  1. Hope you are right, Duker. Would be your greatest performance yet. That said, I think the undisputed heavyweight champion for predictions is finally going to get knocked out. It's not that great of a performance to pick the team with a lead to hold onto their lead over an inferior team. Nah, man. You aren't giving yourself enough credit. If they hold onto this, I don't care what teams they hold off, you are going into the Hall of Fame even before you retire. This isn't a head to head type race where everything is equal. I hate when people use the tired thing as an excuse, but there is a good chance it's real. And it isn't getting better any time soon. Add in injuries, etc., and if you are right about this, it's a lot better call than just picking the more talented team.
  2. It's for sure a good place to be. But now that we are hopefully like a Yankees or Red Sox team in the NL, winning divisions and being in the playoffs is going to be what is expected and anything else considered a mediocre season.
  3. I have to say, I'm disappointed. I was really, really confident he was going to help make the offense unstoppable once KB came back.

  5. I wanted to be sarcastic and respond with, "Is a 3-1 game even semi close?" Then I realized it's not sarcastic.
  6. Not really only because the team will be coming into the Wild Card game having a scheduled game in 39 of the previous 40 days. Having 3 days of rest is a huge huge need for this team right now We will see. The last few games of the season might be meaningless, and they can rest a lot of the regulars then.
  7. I said it before, but if we can win the Wild Card game, it's basically almost as good as winning the division. It's not like we have this Clayton Kershaw ace we are burning to win that game.
  8. In the 19 games against the Brewers this season, I think we ended up scoring 3 or fewer runs 13 times. I expected more from this offense against their starters throughout the year.
  9. We're 11-7 against them and have shut them out 6 times. And? I stand by what I wrote.
  10. Just checked. I see the Cubs aren’t scoring any runs against the Brewers again.
  11. We are no longer winning the division, but if we win the Wild Card game it's pretty much the same.
  12. This is absolutely correct. But there is no horsefeathering way we win the next two.
  13. If St. Louis doesn't win it I don't give a rat's ass if that means Milwaukee does That’s how I feel about Milwaukee. I could give two shits about the Cardinals winning.
  14. Baseball's weird. The Cubs rode a pretty long stretch where they didn't suffer much, if any, major injuries to key pitchers over the previous 3 seasons. I'll tell you what's weird. Daniel Murphy has four horsefeathering home runs with the Cubs. Addison Russell has horsefeathering five. ETA: Also, bad choice of words. Not blowing up like getting hurt, but why aren't they starting to suck a lot more at this point? I would think they'd be getting tired.
  15. Also, why the horsefeathers are Hader and Jefferies not blowing up at this point? I swear they throw 25 pitches every other day.
  16. For the love of God, I just want you people to promise me the VB's won't win the World Series this year. That's all I ask.
  17. You realize that THREE teams would have to pass us in the standings for that to happen, right? Fangraphs has us as 99.9% to make the playoffs. Your doom boner is based on a mythical situation. A boom boner based on DVDA fantasies. Reality has nothing to do with it. I know what I’m seeing. You do too. Weren’t we over 90% to win the division a few games back? Quit with the “doom boner” crap. It got old years ago. Finally, I said possibly. And it is possible. If I'm looking at this correctly, and that's a big if, I think we are six games in the loss column better than any other team for the second Wild Card. I find that really, really difficult to think we'd blow that, and if we do, we had an epic and complete meltdown. At that point, I'd be cool calling it a season.
  18. There was a moment like two weeks ago, when I think the VBs were six back in the loss column and were losing to the Reds by like four or five in the late innings of a game. They came back to win that one and it's been all horsefeathers since.
  19. horsefeathers, Brewers fans are probably so giddy right now. It's too much for me to take.
  20. You know what they need even more? A horsefeathering offense to score runs.
  21. If we walk this off, I will change my username to Ninnie forever. I'm not worried.
  22. I think whoever said here last week that the Brewers seem to have the cheat codes for our offense is right. I know our offense struggles a lot on its own, but we can't score dick against them almost ever no matter who is starting or who comes out of the bullpen. It's rather weird.
  23. We all want them to hold on. But you don't think they are at this point, right? I have no idea. This team has repeatedly looked like garbage for a week or two and then suddenly kicks ass for a week or two. It'll come down to timing, unless they're finally just too beaten up and have too many guys just flailing away to finally swing back into the black like they've managed to do before. I do think we are too beaten up, too tired and too many guys slumping to hold onto this thing. For some reason, the VBs are not any of those.
