  1. I'm hoping Starlin doesn't come up here with the bags loaded. Things are only going to get worse.
  2. I just know I'm disappointed. Just so very disappointed.
  3. If we still have him in 60 days, you can keep being fond of him. Chances are he'll be with the team for the rest of the season at that point.
  4. That's odd. He's not the first player I've ever seen do that. The others were white so they never noticed. Sweet. The racist card again.
  5. At least Rizzo's been walking and putting together good PAs it still hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrts. No doubt. I want the amazing Rizzo from like mid april to mid may back. Like you said, though, at least there is still positive things to take from with Rizzo, which is probably why I didn't realize he was as bad as those numbers indicate the past month. He has those walks and a few noteworthy hits, like the bases clearing double from a week or two ago. Starlin, on the other hand, has been on complete suck mode for what seems like forever now. I'm sad.
  6. YES! I might have the power Kyle does in the minor league forum to get minor league players in gear. Send Starlin down! Send Starlin down!
  7. What's going to happen there? He needs to rediscover how to hit MLB pitching, not AAA pitching. This is probably such a cliche thing to say, but the amount of pressure and attention won't be nearly as great as he tries to get out of this horrible, horrible funk.
  8. http://i.imgur.com/xfTNIIZ.gif Hahahaha. That's good enough for me.
  9. Even when he makes good contact he's [expletive]; he had a solid line drive that would have driven in an RBI with a single except Phillips made an amazing leaping catch to snag it. Well, I'm not sure I would classify it as amazing. Following the ball the whole time I would have been more surprised to actually see it get in for a hit. Clean play, but not that great. The unlucky one was yesterday when he probably would have had an infield hit on a diving stop by the shortstop, but they were able to go to second to still get a rather slow-footed Navarro.
  10. Would just like you all to confirm that I'm crazy to think that it's time for the team to send Starlin to the minors for a while.
  11. I'm going to get laughed at for this, but I need to ask. Would Castro be better off getting sent to the minors to work on his swing rather than trying to hit his way out of it with the Cubs? I'm going to run away now.
  12. I do, however, have no problem keeping Sweeney around for the vet minimum.
  13. At the right price; say 12MM, 15MM max. We need someone in the OF until Soler and Almora are ready. Beyond Ellsbury, the FA market doesn't offer much, and now that we've drafted Bryant over pitching, a pick that I do like, I'd prefer use our trade chips toward pitching. And at 3-5MM/year, even if he does end up a platoon guy, he's on the right side of the platoon and should be very tradable if one of the internal options proves ready to take over. I'm not in favor of giving Sweeny $15 million over 3 years. Um, yeah. I was thinking about offering him a million for one year.
  14. Was thinking the same thing. Only thing I could come up with is that he wasn't sure Valbuena was going to go home on it and he didn't want to get caught in the middle of second and third?
  15. I think you're going to need his heroin needle. I can't imagine there is a way to explain his season so far other than to say it's horribly disappointing and that he sucks. But I'm willing to listen if anybody has anything. lol Just to clarify, I mean he sucks this year. I am hoping beyond hope that he doesn't actually suck every season for the rest of his career. Well then your response was pointless, because it was already acknowledged he sucks this year, and the reference to needing heroin was about whether he will suck for the rest of his career or if it's just a minor setback along the way. Stating he will need the heroin clearly indicates you think he will continue to suck. I apologize.

  18. Although I'm jumping the gun, I've accepted he's going to have a poor year with the hope that it's just a one season thing.
  19. When people express concern about Javy it's all about the walks and K's, correct? Because when I look at his slugging numbers - seven homers, 12 doubles, four triples - there seems to be a lot to like.
  20. Is he actually shut down for the year, or simply he won't pitch for the big league team at all this season?
  21. Watching Travis Wood knock Shark down during the post game interview was the biggest threat of the entire night. Please don't do that again.
  22. i've found apathy to be much more healthy. Well, I've never really gotten worked up over this team in that way; this just feels more like I just don't care to the point that I don't even really want to follow the team at all. Baseball in general just doesn't seem to hold my interest as much. Count me as concerned. We can't have you not liking baseball. Here's to hoping you are just having a bad/below average day and the Cubs just annoyed you, too. You are my favorite poster, damn it. Don't ever think about leaving or not loving the Cubs.
  23. Were you saying that five days ago? Not as much, which is why I'm hoping it's just frustration. However, I'm scared that I've been trying to deny what my eyes have been seeing for a while now because I want so much for Starlin to be a star. However, I've become more and more annoyed with his at bats and no longer want to use his age as an excuse. The dude could reach another level, but his approach at that plate simply won't allow him to at this point. Again, I hope I'm just speaking out of emotion because he's annoying the hell out of me. I understand. This is a game thread; frustration and emotion is fine here. I just think not liking him is taking it a bit far. It's easier to say all of that when he's in a 1/16 stretch. If that GD wind at Wrigley wasn't blowing in all of the time, his numbers would look quite a bit better. I won't show too much anger towards the youngest player on the roster just yet. Yup. I do agree. I think I went to my keyboard in anger after he struck out on a horrible pitch and then got mad at himself, and in turn I got mad at him because I'm always seeing him get mad at himself for taking stupid swings but then he never does anything about it. Rant over now, though. Promise.
