  1. God gawd is this some embarrassing crap.
  2. Cubs are worst team in baseball at getting guy in from third with less than two outs. Let's get better right here.
  3. Really have to tighten up the D, boys. Let's go.
  4. Really like Jay leading off and Tommy second. Two good OBP guys to hopefully get on for KB and Riz.
  5. I almost wonder if they specifically wanted Wade to pitch to Goldschmidt and Martinez in case they find themselves facing the DBacks in the NLCS. If that's the case, Wade now knows what pitch not to throw Goldschmidt. Pretty sure it was more to the fact it had been almost a week since he'd pitched. Still wouldn't minded rest for him and letting Wilson work his horsefeathers out. And yes give Goldy the Harper treatment. Also didn't Wade already pitch to those two last week and gave up back to back dongs?
  6. I guess that makes up for them giving us a run in the first, but I would not be opposed to scoring a few more and winning the game.
  7. I like when it happens to the other team, but I loathe not scoring when we have a man on third and no outs.
  8. 28 Ks but cubs win 1-0 I'd prefer 36 Ks and winning 9-0.
  9. Heck, I'll take a run scored in an inning in which we K four times along with swinging and missing on a wild pitch and another that hits the batter.
  10. I mean, we are in a race with three teams. They all suck, but we might too.
  11. Not freaking out. just frustrated at watching this team which makes me say things. So annoyed that they've followed up their only really great stretch of the year with another really poor one. Sorry. I've just seen you posting a lot about our lead and how the Cardinals are doing and you weren't going all Bryant's Disco Ball about the Brewers. Which... there is more reason to do that now, since it's mid-August. It's definitely scoreboard watching time. And that's why the whole freak out about the vaunted Brewers in June was silly -- because it was June. So there is more urgency now. And the Cards are a serious threat. Still, our fortunes haven't change much. We've been somewhere between probably 75-90% likely to make the playoffs pretty much all year. We still are. The minor fluctuations here and there probably seem more dramatic than they really are. Sure, it's not a good thing to drop a couple games and go from 90% to 75%, but, it's not exactly dire. They are frustrating, though. That's for sure. I don't want to speak for anyone else, but it might be that some of these people despise the Cardinals and it's putting them in a bad mood and making them freak out. That's how I feel about the vaunted Brewers, where most people have the Cards No. 1 on their list.
  12. The Cubs have a bunch of games the rest of this month against teams below .500 and find themselves in a position to take control of the division. They can do it. If they don't, they don't. It's not our faults.
  13. To be fair, it has been documented that Corbin is pretty awesome at home.
  14. Doesn't Avila have a decent arm? I mean, it's not like Willson's, but it's alright. It'd be a bit different if we were left with Caratini and Miggy. I think Avila is actually throwing out a higher percentage of runners than Willy.
  15. I've never known what to take from timetables regarding hamstrings. Three to four weeks seems like it easily could move to five or six with a bunch of updates about how he's getting closer but still not there. But if ends up being three to four, I'll take it.
  16. That's something interesting to consider. I guess I'd buy it more if KB was hitting a bunch of dongs and then wasn't after the injury. But from May 22 to the injury on July 19, he had hit nine dongs during that span. Nine dongs in two months is less than I'd have expected from him. I feel like he had a problem with his dong before the problem with his pinky.
  17. I too would like to win the division. But if we can't win it over three crappy teams, I can't imagine I'll feel disappointed. More embarrassed. Bottom line? The Cubs are playing sucky but have big-time talent. If they play up to their potential, they will win the division by 7 games. If they continue to play like they are bored, then one of those three sucky teams will win the division and the Cubs and their underachieving asses can go away for a few months. I'd ask wtf you were talking about but I'm sure you do not know. I guess I'll have to step back from this convo and figure out for myself why what I'm saying doesn't make sense. This is obviously on me as multiple people are calling me out. Either way, go Cubs.
  18. Their offense has been on fire recently. I wouldn't mind us getting back to that, too.
  19. In a scenario where it comes down to the final game and we lose and squander a playoff spot, sure, I'll have feelings of disappointment to go with the annoyance and embarrassment. I swear to you I'm not trying to make a point here with what emotions I'll have. But you did come up with one in which I will feel sad. I can come up with multiple ones where I won't, though. The scenario where it's the Brewers that beat us out? Damn you.
  20. Let me make this more clear. I want the Cubs to win the division. If they can win the division with 82 wins, I'll take it. I'll be bored, but I'll take it. If the Cubs don't win the division, they will have been beaten out by a legitimately bad team. Therefore, I won't be sitting there disappointed. I'll be sitting there going, "wow, that's totally embarrassing that we sucked that bad." The only way we lose the division is if we suck. The Cubs hold all the cards. I'm not going to worry about what the other teams do because if we take care of business, it doesn't matter. And if we don't, then screw us. yeah, this is all dumb wankery, and you know it is. if the cubs need their 83rd win to seal the division in game 162, i'm sure you won't be disappointed in a loss In a scenario where it comes down to the final game and we lose and squander a playoff spot, sure, I'll have feelings of disappointment to go with the annoyance and embarrassment. I swear to you I'm not trying to make a point here with what emotions I'll have. But you did come up with one in which I will feel sad. I can come up with multiple ones where I won't, though.
  21. Also, this should go in a different thread, but how the heck in a juiced ball year does my boy KB still only have 20 dongs? That dude needs to go on a Sammy Sosa run.
