  1. I give Lackey one pitch before he gives that run right back. Would have enjoyed a few more right there, but it didn't happen and we must move on.
  2. I wouldn't mind a well executed bunt here so we don't hit into a DP. I'll see myself out.
  3. A few thoughts..... - Happy for all of us, but happiest for David. He was frustrated and annoyed today and showed some raw message board emotion, but he never stopped watching even though he questioned why he hadn't shut the TV off. - Every so often when it gets late in a game your mind simulates the outcome already. Mine had already chalked this up as a loss, and it's always amazing when this happens. It makes the win even more exciting. - Right after KB's hit and as the game-tying run was scoring, I jumped up and instead of yelling an expletive "hell yeah" I instead started singing Zobrist's "Benny" walk up music. Absolutely should delete this part but it's true. - I'm simply shocked at the emotions and nerves I feel for a July baseball game. I had always told myself that if the Cubs ever won a World Series, those nerves could never again be there. Damn, for me, I was wrong. Yet, it's a welcome emotion. Sometimes in a tight game I will stop watching and let the board tell me what happened. When I refreshed with Molina up and there was at least one new post, I knew the next thing I read was going to be really good or really bad. It was Duke saying to fly the W. Today was a good day.
  4. Great idea by Lester. Go with the old theory of making the pitcher stand in the sun and run a bit. Wainwright is going to be totally gassed now.
  5. Rizzo is going to lead off this half inning with a no doubt dong. Does anyone agree?
  6. 8 BB in his first 20 innings. 16 in his last 18 1/3 And he's still walking fewer batters than he did in the minors (it was over 6/9 IP -- nice -- in his last three MiLB stints/levels). Some regression was inevitable, but yeah it's been a bit extreme now. I'd wondered for a while why teams weren't being more patient with him. Even when he wasn't walking guys, his command was still pretty bad and he was getting bailed out by swings. Obviously his crazy movement is part of that. But perhaps teams indeed are being more patient on him now and forcing him to throw strikes, because few people actually hit him anyway. Wow. You just described Carlos Marmol.
  7. good lord you guys who is this dude we're going to get who is better than edwards and would've prevented that from happening? did you see what guys like that went for last year? i mean, come on, you could've at least waited until it was uehara or even strop or something to do this Yup. The Cubs had it set up perfectly in a one run game with Edwards and Davis. It simply didn't work like it will a majority of the time.
  8. If they can score four more runs it would be the second straight game at home that we gave up 10 or more runs in an inning. That would be fascinating.
  9. All true. Just trying to come up with a reason and it might be because of the unknown. After we got Chapman last season we seemed locked down with him, Rondon, Strop, etc. And by the playoffs Maddon was uncomfortable going to almost all of them.
  10. Pitchers don't want to protect their brains because the Great Gazoo hat looks dumb. When you are pitching, hitting, or fielding I can understand not wanting to add anything that isn't 100% comfortable. They are running the base so who gives a horsefeathers. Anyway Boras already texted Kris and told him to put the gloves on. Or just ask the franchise players to slide feet first.
  11. Is there another way other than physically to leave the office?
  12. Cool, now put those running mitts on please. I was trying to come up with a reason to the question you asked. And I couldn't come up with one. The best I could do is that players either think they don't look cool or that it makes them uncomfortable because they aren't used to them. Either one is a lame reason. So, yes, put them on.
  13. Happ was up and it was two out, but actually a wild pitch/passed ball from a knuckle baller is real good.
  14. Yes, that would be the best case. His fingers went sideways so I'd be shocked if it was a jam, but I'd welcome the news. Agreed.
