  1. Wait. He just walked Tim Anderson to get to Jose Abreau as the tying run?
  2. We have to be leading the league in dropped fly balls this season.
  3. I don't condone sliding into first, but Javy just made running each base widely entertaining.
  4. I think it's more that Bryant and Rizzo and Contreras were all cold at the same time Yeah, true. Riz getting it together is the key.
  5. Question for you: It's somewhat difficult to evaluate because we have faced two of the worst teams in baseball and not many good pitchers this week, but is our offense much more dangerous and effective because we don't have to fit Heyward into it?
  6. It’s really not about this year. I mean, he could be pretty good and it wouldn’t be shocking. The issue with Jake is how will he fare over the years of th me contract and will his production justify the dollars. Good move in letting him walk. If he pitches well this year, he's only got two years left after this one. It's really not going to be a big deal at that point. The reason the narrative is out there about the Cub regretting not signing him is that Yu has been disastrous so far and the two are going to be compared to each other for the next six years. So long as Yu turns out OK for the first four seasons of his contract, all is well.
  7. Wow. I had no idea Riz didn't have a double this season until today.
  8. Some of the sting would be taken away for me because Starlin would be happy.
  9. You'd hope come arbitration time that the Cubs wouldn't hold it against him.
  10. most times umpires are doing their best to call balls and strikes even when they are wrong. This guy was purposely calling balls as strikes, and I don't think it's even that strong of an allegation.
  11. So is there an unwritten rule for umpires to not do their job correctly on purpose in blowouts?
  12. So, like, on the days when the Cubs are doing well you don't feel quite as happy as you should because you think of Starlin Castro? That's really fascinating.
  13. I'm going with the Marlins being an AAA team and the Cubs not being an AAA team for $500. Someone doesn't watch Jeopardy. Yeah, never been a big Pat Sajak guy even though he graduated from the same college as me. ETA: This attempt at a joke is risky.
  14. I'm going with the Marlins being an AAA team and the Cubs not being an AAA team for $500.
  15. I'm just proud of them for doing exactly what they should be doing against the Marlins.
  16. If you add World Series Champion, too.
  17. How's that for execution? It was perfect. Simply perfect.
  18. Really feel Riz will be fixed from here on out.
  19. What great contact by Javy in a contact situation.
  20. If that would have been Manny, he'd have given you the dong you want to see.
  21. I also would take two runs on three straight doubles.
