  1. This pitcher is like a more talented John Lackey.
  2. I think Joey Bats just swung at a pitch after it was in the catcher's glove.
  3. Don't give into peer pressure. If Yu sucks tonight, go off.
  4. well we've already discussed how the 2017 season was oddly disappointing, and how we were supposed to be great again this season, so we don't really need to do that again. you're lying if you say things haven't been on a downward trend since the world series, but i understand that there should be more leeway since they've accomplished so much but really you guys should at least admit that bitching about game thread bitching is just a different (less annoying) way of venting frustration over the cubs losing games I keep seeing the "2017 was disappointing" stuff and I don't get quite get it. They won 92 games and went to the NLCS, a year after playing into November and hardly having a day off in the offseason. They won a playoff series with Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg pitching in 80% of the games. That's a great baseball season, as ugly as it was for half the season. I think you hit on it with your last sentence. When people look back and just see the win total and the NLCS, hell yeah that is and will be considered a great season. It was just such a dogfight to get to that point, being two games under .500 at the break, that made it not quite as fun for people who were anticipating another dominant season. It wasn't good, fun baseball for six months. It was like, four just blah months and two really awesome ones.
  5. For the record, and this doesn't mean that much, I don't think 17 comes off that irrational. But it might be because I'm a wuss.
  6. at this point you're just putting your fingers in your ears and saying "i can't hear you" Ok, I'm done communicating with you for the year. Dang, man. You put up with me all year last season.
  7. I like the difference in opinions and moods. I like that there are calm and confident people like Duker and Cubswin11, but I also like the venting and emotion displayed by 17. It would be really boring if the entire season was just, 'None of this matters, the Cubs will win the division." It's fun during the season to talk about the here and now. The Cubs have a decent record, but when we all spend the offseason talking about how bad ass they are going to be, some people here get impatient and want to see it now. There have been some nice moments, but really, on May 14, my team has been sort of blah and boring for the most part and not a bad ass version. It will probably come, but maybe it won't. I guess that's what makes the season interesting.
  8. Each season, a team gets some fun walk-offs that make the team highlight reel in September. This appeared like it was going to be one, but it didn't happen. Keep your heads up, everybody.
  9. They're on pace for 92 wins. You're right 94 would be out of the question lol. well they're going to be on pace for about 89-90 if they lose this, and the only reason the rotation hasn't been a complete disaster is because of the flukey production from lester and chatwood. The 2018 Cubs will end up: A. Super Cubs B. Division winning Cubs C. Wild Card Cubs D. Disappointing no postseason Cubs E. Uh oh.
  10. Wow, Almora actually felt the need to slide into first to try to reach when most guys would have passed the base two seconds earlier.
  11. I think BigSlick is right about that whole just don't swing thing.
  12. Well, you can't EXPECT Rizzo to get those every time, and you have to accept that Willy's throw isn't always going to be great if we are going to be happy the times he gets a guy leaning too far from second or first. In all honesty, Hendricks' 0-2 pitch was way too good. So he can share a small part of the blame, too. Rizzo should have had that ball. I can expect Willson not to miss first base by 80 feet, because, you know, he's a major league catcher. Edit: And with two outs it was unneccessary and awfully stupid. Can't argue with the edited part.

  14. God, sometimes you are such a dork. There you go. Stop being a wuss, nerdlinger I promise to try, Wall-E.
  15. No idea how that question makes me a wuss. But that's cool. that wasn't a question...it was an expression of concern. did you think he walked him on purpose or something? again, stop being a wuss. God, sometimes you are such a dork.
