    It's a good move in the fact that it does something for the club now as opposed to what someone "might" bring to the club later. The price a bit steep for my liking which brings me to - meh. It's better that the move is done than not. It's just that when JH says that the Marlins know the Cubs system better than he does, jokingly or not, and we have the history of Willis...well, it scares me some.

    If it's a length of contract issue, then why not go 50-55 million for for 5 years. Yes, towards the end you'll most likely see a drop off in production, however, you will get 10 million a year for the best portion of the contract.

    I feel so badly for him right now. He must be getting ready to jump off the bay bridge. imagine if Hendry let Dusty go, only to bring him back. That's how he must feel right now... If Hendry let Dusty go, only to bring him, think how we would feel! :evil: :cry:

    And that's a darn good reason! If my fiance would only get into the Cubs, it would bed so nice. She a Dodger fan so wouldn't be as gratifying as turning a Card fan but nevertheless...

    Not to ask the impossible or anything, but does anyone know if / where we can get a shot from the rooftops across the street? I went to one the sponsors' website that was re: rooftop seats and at that website I'm pretty sure that I saw at least on shot from a rooftop.

    Again, my criticism isn't with our arms, but our lack of young, good position players. The thing that bothers me is that our philosophy gets too hung up on tools. Going after guys with tools isn't bad if you can develop their tools, which I think we've done a bad job of. I forgot, who did we trade Hinske for? Wasn't Hinske traded for Chiasson? There might have been more to the deal but that what I remember.

    When the the trade happened, I among others of us at NSBB were at cubs.com The only person I really remember being distraught at the thought of losing Dontrelle was Borgie. I don't remember what SCF felt at the time. But resoundingly the trade was considered a good one. You get Clement who can pitch effectively and Alfonseca who had just come off a good year for little. Only in hind sight would many teams have even put Dontrelle in the rotation with his lack of experience or success.
