  1. I vote Requiem for a Dream "ass to ass" scene. Theo as the husky-voiced black guy, Hendry and Kaplan as the girls.
  2. which part has been quite encouraging, the .319 obp or the 21 errors? .776 OPS as a 21 year old in AA?
  3. What is the general consensus on McNutt's ceiling at this point? A low-end #2 / high-end #3 starter? Going back to last season, his numbers in AA now look as follows: 78IP, 100H, 27BB, 52SO, 7HR Granted, he has battled through some injuries and hasn't pitched consistently this season, but he has really given up a lot of hits at the AA level and his strikeout ratio is down signicantly from previous levels. It does make me wonder what his actual ceiling is as a prospect. You leave out how good he was until he got to AA last year (as a 20/21 year old). He struggled a little bit when he first got to AA, then was very good this season until the injuries started. In my not-so-expert opinion, if he reaches his ceiling, he'll be better than a #3.
  4. Kurcz continues to be unhittable as a reliever (except for his appearance on the 19th). 1.1 perfect innings, 3 k. As a reliever: 2.49 ERA 21.2 IP 32/9 K/BB 15 H And 4 of those walks, 3 of the hits, and 3 of the runs were his one terrible outing. I say get him up to AA and see if he can get to the major league team by the middle of next year. Him and Beliveau added to Marmol, Marshall, and Wood could be pretty stellar.
  5. Hopefully they just needed another $750,000 to get Maples and Vogelbach signed.
  6. With stuff like this, this year's draft, and most likely having a top 3 pick next year, our farm should be mighty badass in a couple years.
  7. Can we get a sticky for Hendry/Soriano scripts? They're so whatever the antonym for redundant is.
  8. I saw Sean Gallagher pitch last night for the Indianapolis Indians (Pirates AAA) and he was on it. 7 IP - 0 R - 1 H - 0 BB - 7 SO. Jeremy Hermida had the only hit against him. His stats for the year aren't great but he's still only 25, hopefully he can still turn out to be a decent pitcher for somebody.
  9. He has about the same stats this year, has been much more consistent throughout his career and is a year younger in the same league. If we had to give up one of them, we made the right choice.
  10. Seems overly whiney considering in just the past couple years the farm system has given us our best player, 3/5 of our (original) rotation, 3/7 of our bullpen, a few other regulars, and still has the guy who will most likely be our starting CF next year, another guy with a very good shot of being in the rotation next year and several other guys who will probably make the majors at some point.
  11. Off the top of my head: B. Jackson, McNutt, Vitters, Kurcz, Reed, Simpson, Golden, Carpenter, Wells, LeMahieu, Greathouse, Szczur, Lake and maybe Rusin and Raley are the guys I'm intrigued by and plan to follow somewhat closely. Anyone else that I should definitely add to the list?
  12. So does he think he's good or is his dad going to make a big donation or something?
  13. If these are accurate, Tennessee and Peoria are going to be extremely fun to follow.
  14. Adam Lind was a 1B when I played against him in high school. That's somewhat related to the conversation, right?
  15. New Jersey is a separate state, dummy.
  16. I didn't like Archer being included in the deal for Garza but I've been a bigger fan of McNutt. They have about the same ceiling but McNutt doesn't have the command issues and seems like more of a safe bet.
  17. I want permission to criticize his mutant head/face. If so, I'm in. These are my terms. He looks like he started to melt. But I like him.
  18. We gave up an Ichiro, a right-handed Dontrelle Willis, a Bengie Molina, and a guy that will be great for team chemistry and plays the right way. Chris Archer is black? Definitely too black to be compared to a white pitcher.
  19. We gave up an Ichiro, a right-handed Dontrelle Willis, a Bengie Molina, and a guy that will be great for team chemistry and plays the right way.
  20. I doubt Hendry immediately asked them if they'd take our top pitching prospect. But he was probably eating donuts and fat and stuff.
  21. If they'll not be idiots and let Cashner start, then Zambrano, Garza, Dempster, Cashner, Wells has a lot of potential.
  22. The evaluation of our prospects if pretty much the consensus of the "experts", not just some random Cubs fan.
  23. I don't have as much faith in Archer as I do McNutt, so...at least it wasn't McNutt. I've never had a lot of hope for Lee, although his reputation has a lot of value. Guyer could be a very good 4th outfielder or maybe an adequate starter. Chirinos would be 10X better than Hill as our backup catcher. I would have been very happy if we wouldn't have included Archer. I think it will end up being a decent trade for us, I just think we could have gotten a much better player for that package.
