  1. I hope your weiner rots off.
  2. I hope STL burns in a fire.
  3. What did he say?
  4. I now have more cuts on my forearms than Tony LaRussa has DUI's.
  5. Thanks, dick. Now I'm cutting myself.
  6. I still don't know how they got Eddie Murphy to look that young.
  7. Anyone else getting flashbacks of game 3 against the Dodgers in 08? The Rangers hitters are looking very similarly pathetic.
  8. Just get this [expletive] over with so Theo can start the revolution.
  9. He used his HOF speech to call out a non-white Cubs player. And to give a shout out to a non-white Cubs player.
  10. If Sandberg can get behind the advanced stats and the rest of Theo's philosophy, I would love for him to be the manager. He seems to have gotten good results from his minor league teams. I think he would be a good example for the younger players like Castro. I think they're much more likely to really listen to and respect a Hall of Famer. It'd also be a good thing to have one of the most popular Cubs ever. Even if the benefits are relatively meaningless, it creates more excitement for the fan base. If he's dismissive of advanced stats and won't get behind Theo, then those small benefits are not worth it. I hope he is open minded about it, because I'm a huge Sandberg fan and would love to have him as a good manager.
  11. I want to trade Marmol, assuming we could get a decent prospect for him. I'm intrigued by the idea of Sizemore. No idea what to do with Cashner. I'm very happy people that are actually smarter than me will be making that decision. I'd probably also be for trading Byrd. That's all for now.

    Dempster

This is why I would be a horrible GM. Since Dempster wants to finish his career here and has been a "good Cub", I wouldn't be able to tell him "we don't want you back". There are probably other things that would make me a horrible GM.
  13. I, too, think we should be concerned that smart people are running the Cubs.
  14. Big boy pants have the look of real underwear but have absorbing qualities because I still piss the bed sometimes.
  15. I have it on my DVR if that helps. What are you doing at 8:30?
  16. I think that's what the rumor is. Theo targeting Maddux as the new manager. The rumor reported in the Tribune was as pitching coach. Then forget it. No way is Rangers are going to give him up for lateral move. Why would they?
  17. I was obviously more excited when the 08 team was dominating than when the 04 team was blowing it. But going into the season, 04 was easily the more exciting team. Also after the Nomar trade.
  18. I was pretty focused on winning the WS that year, at least early on. Then [expletive] started to go really wrong and dimmed the my long term view quite a bit. Yeah, same here. By the end you had the health issues with Wood and Prior seriously rearing their heads and they were my main reasons for the confidence before the season started. I was still pretty confident that they'd be in the mix in 2005. Hell, even after that mess of a season I still had hope because of Lee's monster season and thinking that at least one of Prior or Wood would bounceback and anchor the rotation. 2006 smashed a lot of hopes, but then they bounced back so dramatically for 2007 and 2008. I guess it really wasn't until after 2009 that I was finally like "OK, they're toast for the time being". I was pretty optimistic in 2008, because the team was pretty clearly the best team in the NL, which was the first time that had happened in about 25 years (and only the second time in 60 years). Going into the playoffs or going into the season? Because going in to the season 2004 teabagged the [expletive] out of 2008.
  19. I think 2004 was a different kind of optimistic. That team easily had the most talent of any Cubs team since I've been following them. I thought they were easily the most talented team in the NL. But as we saw, there's a lot that can go wrong when you go all in, hoping everything goes right in a 2-3 year window. Now we have a winning philosophy and should be in a position to compete every year. If we keep with this philosophy, it seems like it's more waiting for the inevitable than hoping people stay healthy and have good seasons in a particular year.
  20. Agreed. I think he'll be Dunn next season. This season was just a disaster for the dude. That's a pretty bold prediction. I also predict he'll be Dunn the season after that and the season after that as well as all future and previous seasons. Sorry, couldn't help myself. that was a really funny joke
  21. Can someone explain the thread title to me? I'm guessing it's a rhetorical question. If this wasn't the best FO in all of sports, why would Ricketts have assembled it? New thread: Is the sun hotter than my yogurt? poptart?
  22. Let Sandberg be manager. He can just have an AIM chat window open with Theo the whole game in case he starts to do something stupid.
  23. Ricketts is way to cool to hang out with Henry in his free time. He's probably freebasing with black people.
  24. I have a bunch of work to do at work today and it's pissing me off.
