the hell? why? You really can't imagine how someone could get emotional when your star player gets hit in the face and then the next pitch is another HBP?
From a quick glance, it seems like Underwood was lucky early in the year and then was genuinely awesome in the second half. Pre ASB: 42.2IP 18BB/28K 42H Post ASB: 58IP 18BB/56K 43H He did allow a lot more HR post-ASB, though: 2 pre/8 post.
I've never been so thankful for a day off. I can't remember a series as bad as that one. If this had been a 4 game series, I would be hiding in my parents' closet right now. Hopefully Rizzo returns for the PIT series. It will also help that both teams will have the pitcher batting instead of one team having a DH and the Cubs having Szczur. #NeverForget
Yeah, I want Arrieta and Hendricks as definites, 2 new guys, and then the least sucky of Wada, Straily, Turner, Doubront, Wood, Jokisch can have the 5th spot. EDIT: I guess it's kind of unfair to include Wada in "least sucky", he has not been sucky.
I still really like Contreras and think he's going to bounce back and break out next year. With Schwarber maybe sticking at C, Zagunis looking like a legit prospect, adding Caratini, and good seasons from Remillard and Kal-El Brockmeyer, our catching situation has improved quite a bit since last year.
I would be surprised if we didn't win the central. Totally surprised. "Move or two away"? GTFO. I mean wtf? Competitor? We're a move or two away from shooting a big Ole wad on history. Brett and a bunch of other writers keep saying stuff like if the Cubs make a bunch of moves they could conceivably, possibly, maybe just maybe be a .500 team. Whoa, easy there Mr. Hot Takes, you mean the team that has been .500 since May, that has called up 2 top 10 prospects in the past month, that will add 2 more top 10 prospects next year, and has $50m to spend MIGHT have the talent to be a .500 team next year? You have to admire their willingness to put their reputations on the line like that.
