  1. This, and they'll look better now that they'll be paired with the all-blue hat. one fan's opinion- the grey set with the all-blue hat will never look better because all grey sucks. and so did ditching the road hat. baseball is the only team sport where the color of the jersey of the team doesn't matter in any fashion of gameplay whatsoever. not in scoring, not in officiating, not offense, defense, nothing at all. and with the advent of color television, baseball has been aggravatingly slow in modernizing the uniforms to where they actually look good on television. and with hdtv technology, even moreso. you do not need grey road uniforms anymore. i like the astros for that practice last year for either not, or very rarely, wearing a grey top on the road. we have better manufacturing technology so that unis can be made of team colors now cheaper than they could a grey uniform. i would encourage baseball now to do what the other sports do and have a colored set to wear on the road. it looks better on television and that doesn't hurt. are you saying you think the cubs should wear blue tops and bottoms on the road?
  2. another free preview of the new player going on right now.
  3. The picture at full quality is amazing. It will stream at full quality for about 10 min. for me, then it gets worse until it eventually freezes up. After I open it in a new window, it returns to full quality then does the same thing after another 10. I'm not sure if it's a problem on my end or theirs.
  4. Theres a free trial of the new player right now for the phillies/yankees on mlb.com
  5. It passed because the right palms were greased on the city commission. I cannot think of a worse place to put the ballpark. It will be like where the Yankees play only worse b/c they won't have near enough police. i agree...just awful. id much rather go the football stadium in a decent part of town to watch a game than get anywhere near little havana at night. Stadiums going up in bad neighborhoods is nothing new. Without Comiskey would anyone ever venture toward that neighborhood? What about Camden Yards, Yankee Stadium, Shea, Philly, Pittsburgh. One of the worst places in the country, Camden, New Jersey, has a fairly successful 25,000 person concert venue located there. Well known hell-hole Newark, New Jersey is now home to a minor league baseball stadium and a hockey arena. I don't think you can compare simply walking through the area today with what it will be like once there is an actual stadium with thousands of people showing up. Theres already been a stadium there...The Orange Bowl. Everyone I've ever talked to that had been to a game there(me included) wasnt too fond of the neighborhood at any point in the day.
  6. Just checked ESPN.com and they're listing opening day cubs/astros on ESPN2.

  8. He was originally supposed to throw a simulated game but they decided he was too sick for that. Obviously with the Cubs and Harden's history this raises a bit of a red flag, but I'm not too worried yet.
  9. i wish they would turn off the mic thats picking up the guy yelling stupid stuff.
  10. fixed haha i actually thought of putting it that way, but apparently he threw a simulated game early this morning and then went home.
  11. Harden scratched from the start because of illness. Lee wont play either.
  12. already up on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCvjUlz5TeQ
  13. As bad as that stadium is, theyre trying to build a new stadium where the old orange bowl was. Talk about going from bad to worse...
  14. Terrible? No. Overpaid? Yes.
  15. Well, for the first time since December, I can actually see the field at Wrigley. Surely baseball cant be far away. :beg: also, the outline from the ice rink is pretty noticeable across the outfield. other than that doesnt look too bad. http://cubs.truelook.com/timages/live20/chicagocubs/chicagocubs_wrigleyfield_camera2/imgbuf/buf_1276/1234188077975265.jpg
  16. Bonds, ARod, Clemens, and McGwire won't make the HOF. That is certainly something to be gained. mcgwire is at least borderline but you aren't gaining anything by keeping out bonds, arod and clemens. they're three of the all-time greats with or without steroids, and it's just embarrassing to the voters and the hall itself if those guys aren't elected. to me it isnt a question of "were they good enough with or without steroids". the fact they contributed to the integrity damage of the game automatically eliminates them IMO.
  17. What drives me nuts about it more than anything else is how baseball is treated differently from football and basketball. This will ruin A-Rod's reputation. This will only add more ammunition to the people who argue that everyone in baseball is on steroids and is a cheater. It will hurt baseball. However, nobody talks about basketball and football in the same way. Cripes, Shawne Merriman testing positive got very little attention. When the Williams DTs tested positive for a banned substance, everyone automatically believed them when they said it was for a weight loss drug. No one seems to notice when guys in both sports look like they belong in professional wrestling. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if the NFL and NBA were just as tainted by the PEDs scandal. Yet, nobody says a freaking thing about it. However, this will lead to another Congressional hearing with another player's career destroyed. It'll be sickening and a waste of money. I just dont get this thought process. I definitely agree that the NFL gets a pass. Is it fair? No, but it doesnt have to be. Who cares if it hurts baseball? Baseball hurt itself by ignoring the problem and then trying to act like the problem was never really that big of a problem. Who cares if it destroys a players career? Anyone who cheats should have their career destroyed.
  18. Don't agree at all. To each their own though. IMO Sosa hasnt had any evidence pop up yet because we are still pretty early in finding out just how rampant the use was. Obviously the Mitchell Report was big, but to keep it in perspective, it only revealed a few of the dealers. Look at how many names came from just that. I'm sure theres people out there that know exactly what Sammy did or didnt do. They just havent had a reason to tell yet.
