  1. But see, having Derosa actually helps with injuries, cuz you have someone that can actually play 3B on a regular basis when Ramirez went down. Losing Derosa hurt depth, a lot. This team might be good when they get healthy, but there's no guarantee that they'll ever be entirely healthy. Soriano is playing with a gimpy knee. Ramirez "might" be back in mid-July if he doesn't need surgery. In the meantime, guys like Scales and Blanco are getting playing time. Soto and Bradley's struggles are surprising, but Lee shouldn't be. And really, I don't think we can count his injury times as a negative. Lets be honest, Hoffpauir has outplayed Lee so far this year, in only 30 or so fewer AB's. The truth is that Hendry was shortsighted in the offseason, and got left handed at the expense of depth, and some better players. Is it the Cubs only issue? No...of course not. But lets not pretend that it's not a big issue. I agree that depth was probably compromised to get better starters, but I dont see Derosa as a guy that wouldve carried this team through the injuries it's seen so far. The bottom line, and the point of my original post, is that whether we have Derosa or Fontenot or Scales or Miles playing 3B, if Soto, Lee, Soriano and Bradley arent hitting at the same time, this team is not going to be good.
  2. If overreacting is swapping Bradley and Fontenot for Edmonds and Derosa, I'd overreact every time. Our biggest problems right now are injuries and luck, not the off season moves. Lee, Soto, and Bradley all started out the season hitting well below their career avg at the same time and each have missed time due to injuries. Compound that with Aramis, Zambrano and Harden's issues, to be honest I cant believe we're not further back right now. This team is going to be really good if they can all get healthy.
  3. You knew he was going to turn into a decent pitcher that we got zilch in return for. Always happens. Wasnt the Cubs return based on his performance?
  4. Volquez throws an inning, then exits with the same back pain that put him on the DL.
  5. But Fox could outhit and outrun him lol. If Fox is really that bad in the field, I want to see it. He must be the worst fielder in the history of professional baseball. I think I could take the comedy in terrible fielding over the lack of hitting at the moment.
  6. I'm fine with him being reinstated, but I'd love to seem have to play for a "normal" working person's salary for at least a few years. We'd see how much he really loves the game then.
  7. Very cool. Always wanted to make one of these but it never seems to work out. I'd be interested to see the rest of the pictures.
  8. not to mention the baserunning screw ups earlier in the season. basically, everything he was brought in for, he's failed miserably at.
  9. Yeah, if that's true, its pretty obviously he was roiding. When I first heard the story, I was thinking it would be a JC Romero kinda story, but its becoming pretty clear he was roiding. I dunno... I do have a hard time believing Manny would stand up and fight if he was actually taking it for fertility. "My boys swim in circles" isn't exactly something you want to announce to the world. It's part of being high profile though...
  10. My thoughts as well.
  11. I'm excited about WGN America getting rid of the scary looking girl in the logo and going with a retro look.
  12. DB's Reds going: Taveras Hairston Jr. Votto Encarnacion Bruce Phillips Hernandez Gonzalez Cueto
  13. sun times has the cubs lineup as... Soriano Fukudome Lee Hoffpauir Ramirez Fontenot Soto Theriot Harden DB's Reds going with... Taveras Dickerson Votto Phillips Bruce Encarnacion Hernandez Gonzalez Owings
  14. Harry Caray impersonators are funny. The problem is most people that claim to be one are more of a Will Ferrell doing Harry Caray impersonator than a Harry Caray impersonator.
  15. I think he'll come around. No doubt hes off to a terrible start, but I think hes a good enough hitter to figure it out. I wouldnt be against moving him down if he keeps struggling though.
  16. certainly gonna take some getting used to. http://cubs.truelook.com/timages/live20/chicagocubs/chicagocubs_wrigleyfield_camera1/imgbuf/buf_610/1239022924815645.jpg
  17. Agreed. I just dont understand how many amenities a fan needs...As long as the view is excellent I really dont care. I'm more than likely not going to leave my seat after the game starts.
  18. i dont think its a dump now, but i wouldnt be against a rennovation as long as the upper deck stays close to the field.
  19. Both of the Cubs games against the Yankees this weekend will be apart of the free preview of the all but completed new player. I think there's a new version of NexDef to go with it.
