  1. I'd rather sit at home and have the ability to watch any game in HD and RedZone over attending an NFL game, regardless of who is playing. Especially when the closest teams to me are playing in temperatures of 30 degrees or less half or more of the year.
  2. No kidding. Available technologies allow the average fan to ascertain (in real time!) the routine manner in which umpires miss ball/strike calls. Is baseball not sufficiently embarrassed by this? You're assuming those systems are acceptably accurate. I'm not sure the technology is there yet for this...especially not as instantaneously as it would need to be. So you don't think FoxTracks or whatever FSN/Fox calls their pitch recognition/location thing isn't instantaneous? Also while they might not be acceptably accurate wouldn't it at least create more of a standard throughout the league that would take away the variance of umps have big/small/high/low/inside/outside strike zones?
  3. The thing is the automated strike zone would probably be the easiest of all these things to implement. Keep the homplate umpire behind the plate for plays at the plate, fair/foul calls, check swings, catcher interference, etc. and just have it buzzed into the home plate ump via an earpiece or a visual on the scoreboard or something and then he makes the ball/strike call.
  4. :clapping: Hopefully the NL adopting the DH won't be too far behind
  5. Didn't the Cubs offer more for Puid than the Dodgers? Puig*
  6. It's too bad his highest value to the team will likely be in a trade. I like him a lot.
  7. Soriano doing Soriano things. Over the last two games: 5-8, 3HR, 1 2B, 12RBI
  8. Yup. Could maybe include Valbuena in that breakout category
  9. No just Hipsters and Drew Carey
  10. Does Mooney watch this team/know the roster? Rizzo/Valbuena/Dejesus/Scheirholtz/Sweeney. Nearly have of our position players/everyday starters are lefthanded.
  11. With him coming off TJS, I doubt it. Maybe Villanueva? Solid arm at 3B, blocked by a myriad of options.....Same with Gioskar Amaya. Although I'm not sure Amaya would have the arm strength. I didn't even know what Bruno's injury was, oops. Can't believe they'd try to convert an upper-level guy like Villanueva. I don't want it to happen, but Jeimer would seem to be an okay/logical choice. Given his age, being blocked by multiple guys, wanting to find a place for his bat to play as he advances with potential other 3B (Bryant/Baez, Villanueva, etc.). etc..
  12. Soriano is 3-5 with 2HR and 6RBI's tonight. That's good to see
  13. The prospect pundits are always a bit behind. They are going to be really blown away when they sit down in the offseason to catch up on all the systems and they see how well the Cubs did this year in terms of development. So many guys had good years. I'm having trouble thinking of important prospects who didn't. Maybe Soler? The remains of Brett Jackson. Vizcaino. Maples Eh, he's been good since going back to Boise so hopefully the mechanical readjustments are finally settling in. K's have remained consistent and BB have dropped by about 3 times as much.
  14. I think most on here reasonably expect Bryant to get to AA at some point next year but I doubt many others, if any at all, expect him to see any time above that. I don't think any of us expect his "clock to start" until sometime in 2015 and I think there's a decent chance he will still be have rookie status in 2016 (which is the first year I expect him to see significant time/start the season out of ST with the team).
  15. What position is he playing? 3b. Olt is DHing. I still like Vitters more as a prospect than Olt
  16. What position is he playing? 3b. Olt is DHing. I still like Vitters more as a prospect than Olt
  17. Is he the worst defensive catcher in baseball? He has to be in the bottom 5
  18. So Clayton Kershaw is the all time leader in ERA in the live ball era, I knew he was great but didn't know he was that great.
  19. I think that's going to be a pretty short "discussion" the powers that be have this week on whether or not to promote Bryant.
  20. He had/has a stress fracture in his leg, I'm pretty sure that always leads to a DL stay.
  21. http://l.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/BIhO5C9r2Cl9SmiwqYDXeg--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3M7cT04NTt3PTUwMA--/http://l.yimg.com/os/publish-images/sports/2013-08-08/54cd5928-b94f-40aa-90ca-226374dfc471_batthrow080813b.gif
