  1. 7IP 5H 1R 0ER 0BB 5K in his first start for TEX and likely will get the win
  2. I think a reasonable expectation for him could be Carlos Gomez at the plate, maybe a little more power and less SB. Obviously he could reach a much higher ceiling but I think that's a safe bet for what he could become.
  3. I said it was rare. There is no evidence that Hank did PED's other than trying them once, despite the fluctuations and his home runs staying on a level plane. Why do you think Aaron's numbers were so great toward the end of his career? There's no evidence that Sosa did either, but here we are ? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4264062 They weren't illegal in MLB then.
  4. Science. If Sosa never took steroids how many homers do you think he would have ended up with? 927 Simple physics, actually
  5. Curt Schilling just said on ESPN during the Red Sox-Rays broadcast that if there was one player in the game he'd give a 7 year contract to he'd pick Pedroia. Smart.....
  6. with arrieta and olt, i finally feel like i have somewhat of a reason to follow iowa. grimm too i guess You should feel awful you weren't following lake! http://gifrific.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Waynes-World-Were-not-Worthy.gif
  7. If Muskat says it, it must be true as she always has her fingers on the pulse of the Cubs. Who were the two players she comically confused in ST? Wasn't it two guys who weren't even the same ethnicity/color? Like Vitters and Lake?
  8. Is that even a 10 foot rim? Unless part of Rose's ACL surgery was to put 4 ft. extensions in his knees I don't think so. It looks like it's 7-8 ft.
  9. Yes, stadiums are required to have a min ratio of 1 per 1,000 of their total capacity. So Wrigley should have somewhere around 40-45 at min around the park.
  10. Really? I would think they'd be required to have them per code, even if it's a decrepit POS. You would certainly think they will have them post-renovation. You couldn't just use an empty beer/soda cup you had used earlier and filled it up from water in one of the bathroom sinks though, if you absolutely needed water and couldn't/didn't want to buy bottled?
  11. Like Androstenedione? "Androstenedione was manufactured as a dietary supplement, often called andro (or andros) for short. Sports Illustrated credits Patrick Arnold for introducing androstenedione to the North American market.[3] Andro was legal and able to be purchased over the counter, and, as a consequence, it was in common use in Major League Baseball throughout the 1990s by record-breaking sluggers like Mark McGwire.....Barry R. McCaffrey, the director of the White House's Office of National Drug Control Policy, attempted to determine whether androstenedione could be classified as an anabolic steroid in July 1999. However, he could not because there is no proof of it promoting muscle growth.....The "Andro-Project", conducted by medical researchers at East Tennessee State University, showed that the supplement "Andro"(androstenedione/androstenediol) does not increase muscle mass or strength.......A 2006 review paper summarized several studies that examined the effect of androstenedione on strength training. At dosages of 50 mg or 100 mg per day, andro had no effect on muscle strength or size, or on body fat levels. One study used a daily dosage of 300 mg of androstenedione combined with several other supplements, and also found no increase in strength when compared to a control group that did not take the supplements."
  12. with arrieta and olt, i finally feel like i have somewhat of a reason to follow iowa. grimm too i guess Agreed, I hope we see Arrieta up and starting in the next few weeks. I'd like to see him get 5-7 starts the rest of the year.
  13. That has to play to his constituents. Saying you will battle THE MAN is the easiest way to stay popular. And possibly get up his butt
  14. Well, there is this. Granted it's from Wikipedia.... "In addition, amphetamine is also used by some professional,[76] collegiate[77] and high school[77] athletes for its strong stimulant effects. At low to moderate therapeutic doses (10–40 mg), amphetamine has been shown to increase physical strength, stamina, and endurance in numerous studies.[78][79][80][81] Like methylphenidate and bupropion, amphetamine increases the endurance of athletes primarily through reuptake inhibition and effluxion of dopamine in the central nervous system." "There has never been an adequately large randomized controlled trial showing definitively that HGH provides benefits to athletes and that there are no significant adverse drug reactions; there have been many small studies and several of these studies were recently reviewed and analyzed in a meta-analysis. [4] While the authors indicated that the meta-analysis was limited by the fact that few of the included studies evaluated athletic performance and by the fact that dosing protocols in the studies may not reflect real-world doses and regimens, their conclusions were as follows: "Claims that growth hormone enhances physical performance are not supported by the scientific literature. Although the limited available evidence suggests that growth hormone increases lean body mass, it may not improve strength; in addition, it may worsen exercise capacity and increase adverse events. More research is needed to conclusively determine the effects of growth hormone on athletic performance." So studies have proven Amphetamine's definitely help while the HGH studies are limited and their initial findings point more towards them not helping performance.
  15. But you are saying PED's got him there so if he's clean he's not there because you said PED's did all the work or a good majority of it (you said roughly 1/3 of HR were attributed to PED's, so he hit 400 "cleanly" which means he's not a HOFer). It's not news to anyone here that if you get to 600HR cleanly you are in the HOF.
  16. We have the physical evidence on Bonds, not Aaron. I give people the benefit of the doubt. Same for Pujols. You have no "physical evidence" because nobody was looking and testing, yet you've had people in the game talk about how PED usage goes back decades. Of course. But has anyone accused Aaron and seen him take them? No, so I give him the benefit. We know ARod took them. I'm not keeping anyone out of the HOF with no evidence, steroid era or not. What about the evidence in the numbers of having a later career power surge?
  17. What a loon. Can you imagine the stuff Cuban would be saying/doing if he was allowed to own the team and Tunney was pulling this?
  18. Hank Aaron was because, well, because. His last career uptick was just a statistical outlier, everyone else with the same career track was a USER.
  19. Ever been there? The rain typically lasts a little while and then it's sunny the rest of the day. That's basically the entire summer there (when there isn't a hurricane). If you want to enjoy Florida, you don't go during the summer. Yeah, I've been there probably around a dozen times in mid-late October/early November and it was mostly perfect weather every time.
  20. How can you possibly put a number on this? Statistical averages. You don't leap in your late 20's or early 30's like that. You should look at Hank Aaron's numbers then and stop promoting him as a clean guy under that logic Edit: Soccer beat me to it
  21. How can you possibly put a number on this?
  22. There's less than 20 intelligent minds in those two groups of people so I don't really care WTF they think. And Aaron was a PED user himself.
  23. Global Icon, once he teams up with Jay-Z, Durant and Cano at Jay-Z's company. He's more than just one of the greatest baseball players ever, he's a mogul.
