  1. Tell that to Bonds who only became once in a generation after he took them. PED's made multiple once in a generation players (Bonds, Sosa, ARod). None of those guys would have been that good without them. Bonds and ARod were going to be clean HOFers, but we'll never know for sure. I think the price for keeping your PED enhanced stats is not getting into the HOF. They are part of the narrative of the steroid era, but the damage they did to the game is not HOF worthy. At what point in his career do you think he started taking them or when do you think it's safe to assume so? If you just take his first 5 years in the league (even though he only played in about 2/3 of the season his first year) he averaged 6.2 fWAR. He was well on his way to a generational guy.
  2. They more or less sustain a players performance rather than enhance it. If you take a ton of PED's you all of the sudden aren't going to be able to hit a breaking ball better if you couldn't before or be able to recognize pitches faster. If Darwin Barney all of the sudden went on a PED regimine the next two years it's not like he'd turn into Bonds v2.0 in 2015
  3. I long for those days
  4. LOL Who is the Lufrano from the Cubs that's mentioned in the first tweet? Is he one of the lawyers/real estate guys heading it on the Cubs end? Never heard that name before.
  5. I just love that they're allowing refs to eject players for that sort of thing now. You're going to see so many suspicious ejections in games involving BCS contenders in November it's going to be ridiculous. I don't know about that. But I don't like this rule. A lot of the calls are pretty much all going to be subjective/open to interpretation. I guess it's good they are allowing (maybe even requiring) all of those plays that they deem worthy of ejection to be reviewed. But when you give idiots more time to review idiotic calls I doubt the end result will be any better.
  6. So apparently the Clowney hit from last year would be illegal this year, not because of "launching" or putting your helmet down into a guy but because they deem that the RB was "defenseless" in that play. I don't know how a RB getting a ball and running forward is a defenseless player on the field.
  7. Hopefully it's something he can sustain the rest of the year and it's a sign the mechanical re-work is starting to set in
  8. Grilli to the DL with the dreaded forearm strain. I know they already have a solid bullpen but you could probably add them to the list of teams interested in Russell/Gregg.
  9. He's already rehabbing in double A. This was a guy that was supposed to miss the whole year and probably be done with his career, and now he'll undoubtedly be pitching game 1 of the World Series. Not so fast my friend....... http://www.ksdk.com/rss/article/389513/3/Carpenter-describes-the-numbness-that-has-returned That's just the last side effect of the pixy dust settling in
  10. Not in MLB that I can recall. Better question, other than Hedo why are there never any NBA guys who test positive or are accused?
  11. Zastryzny? Olt? Blackburn? Candelario?
  12. He's batted 5th for all but 12 games. Well that doesn't seem like the most ideal/maximized spot for him to be in
  13. Or possibly Phil Rogers it's really tough to find a discernible difference between the two
  14. Have any prospect guys said anything about him and his stuff this year? It's really, really hard to ignore his numbers and then put him out of the top 15. Stuff is still fringy, backend starter, middle reliever, etc.... So he's still dominating on command alone in AA? I don't get it. Maybe he has a deceptive delivery that makes his marginal stuff slightly above average and he's tough to face when you only see him once or twice?
  15. I just looked at the Orioles-Royals box score tonight, Chris Davis is hitting 5th? Is that where he's been hitting all year? I don't follow the Orioles at all and it's not like they were facing a tough lefty or anything, Wade Davis, a righty, started for KC.
  16. If they could just get Yadier next I'd be soo happy. Also, personally, I feel PED's/HGH should be legal to some extent (rehab for injuries, doctor monitored usage plans, etc.).
  17. Woah. Are they aware Dalton is their QB?
  18. If anything, it's Ransom and not Valbuena keeping Vitters in Iowa. But I agree that I at least haven't given up hope on Vitters being a right-handed batter on the platoon side at 3B or a corner OF spot. If he can stay healthy the rest of the way I'd like to see him come up at some point after the deadline and at least get a few starts a week at 3B/OF against lefties.
  19. Nope. There is a general assumption of risk throughout ballparks insofar as "game dangers" are concerned. What if the net had already been damaged/faulty before the game and they didn't do anything to fix it?
  20. Was just looking at box scores from the weekend, Cody Ransom is 37!?! I would probably not have guessed within 5 years of that if you asked me his age.
  21. $110 million? I know he had one good sized contract with the Orioles.
  22. lol, saw that. They are really a special bunch. Bedard pitched like 6 or 7 1/3, gave up 1 hit, k'd 10 but still took the loss because he walked 5 and gave up 3 runs.
  23. Pretty sure he met her/knocked her up when he was a nobody at/just out of Marquette. But anyways, how does anyone get with that loon regardless of his income
  24. Theo/Jed are waiting until Garza takes his afternoon nap to make the trade
