  1. it seems like guys should be getting hurt less, not more than they did 10 years ago Bring back PEDs
  2. I don't why he'd do that when he has teams wanting to guarantee him multiple years and probably around $30 million minimum.
  3. I think he still has Buxton #1, but he's high on Bryant, Russell and Soler. He hates almost all of our pitching
  4. I wouldn't even know where to start on a trade for him or what the Nationals would think is fair return. Baez, Almora, Mckinney and 1-2 more in the 20-30 range?
  5. That's not an inspiring list of names to associate Bryant with
  6. Almora and Pierce, if they insist on a SS being involved we can throw in Amaya.
  7. Tough AB for Javy there, those outside pitches weren't strikes and was good discipline by him.
  8. Zach Duke had a stretch of 2.0, 2.1, .5, 1.8, 2.0 fWAR from 2005-2009. I'd gladly take a stretch like that from Hendricks
  9. agreed. Soler/Russell/Bryant. But they're all really solid. I don't know why but I keep trying to maintain a healthy skepticism about Soler and it is not working. Same, from a performance basis idk what he's done that you could say "this is why he's gonna fail" like Baez/Bryant with the k% issues. The only thing that you can knock him on is really health and even part of that that was a fluke injury+hamstring issues that they seem to have gotten him over and may have been more caused by not playing any baseball for 2 years then ramping it up immediately and being on a poor diet.
  10. i think if we get Castillo, it's more likely that we deal Almora I kinda want to trade Almora/use him as a headliner for some sort of known MLB commodity this offseason (preferably pitching), since we seemingly have the OF filled between Alcantara, Bryant, Soler and/or a FA (Castillo) with also having guys in the wings if/when they fail like Schwarber, Mckinney, Jimenez in the next few years.
  11. If you want to talk about trading surplus value for Hamels, the guys we should be trading really are guys like Almora, Vogelbach, Schwarber, Mckinney (since our OF/1B is pretty much filled up if we are going on the assumption all of Baez/Soler/Russell/Bryant are hitting), Pierce, CJ, any other minor league pitchers (since we are getting a position on the ML roster that takes their spot, and as always screw pitching prospects).
  12. what is full value? what is full value in a need situation? it's incredibly fluid. Castro for Hamels certainly isn't. Castro is younger, cheaper, plays a position whose attrition rate is lower than Hamels, and provides good offense at a offensive starved position in a offensive starved league. Hamels is older, more expensive, has already had injury issues, plays a position where guys are dropping every day seemingly and we still may be under spending limitations so acquiring a contract like Hamels could inhibit us from making other moves and also puts even more pressure on needing to hit on all these prospects coming up since we are trading away a known offensive commodity.
  13. which means he's valued highly and could likely net you a good return that fills other needs. It also means he's the opposite of surplus value; he's the proven commodity and yet you want to move him as if the Cubs can just plug in someone who is a lock to outproduce him at SS. The surplus value is the relative glut of MI prospects. Russell's floor is Castro. Which is great because these guys have enough versatility and there are enough open positions that we can find room for all of Russell/Castro/Baez/Bryant/Soler on the roster between SS/3B/2B/OF
  14. With his arm they should just convert him to a pitcher this offseason. It's his only chance of carving out a MLB career at this point.

  16. Castro is 3rd in BA, SLG, wRC+, wOBA and 4th in HR and OBP amongst all qualified SS this years, FYI
  17. There were reports at the deadline the Astros had Keuchel (2.9 fWAR) and McHugh (2 fWAR) available. I could see a scenario where Darvish was made available though he could be broken, just went to the DL with elbow inflammation, Cueto could be available at some point (he's a FA after next year), and all the mentioned Mets guys are probably available but it seems like they have unrealistic ideas on their return.
  18. If we go this route, which I don't think is unrealistic, what would the payroll look like? $70 million (since we probably aren't signing any significant offensive pieces)?
  19. Do you have hope for a Mark Prior comeback?
  20. This is my personal favorite http://gif.mocksession.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/NYJER-MORGAN.gif
  21. But he did it in a way to be celebrated
  22. Darvish to DL with elbow inflammation, [expletive] em' all
  23. It's crazy to think a year from now even after all of Bryant, Soler, Baez and Russell graduate we could still have a top 10ish system. Almora, Mckinney, Vogelbach, Zagunis, Stinett, Schwarber, Torres, Jimenenz, 1st rd pick from 15', Tseng, Pierce, CJ, Underwood or Blackburn (whichever one), and I'm sure I'm missing a few is still better than a lot of other teams potential top 10s.
  24. He's doing it tonight
