  1. I wonder if we can get involved as a 3rd team where part of what we send out is Castillo to Dodgers and part of what we get is Grandal. Check the splits. If you're getting Grandal, you'll want to keep Castillo. Was thinking they could go sign Ross then, forgot to add that.
  2. Not that there is likely a huge difference in wear on the arm, but I wonder how much of that 8-10% increase in slider usage may have actually been mis-catergorized and he was actually throwing a cutter. Knowing Bosio's propensity to teach it and the pitches being relatively similar.
  3. I wonder if we can get involved as a 3rd team where part of what we send out is Castillo to Dodgers and part of what we get is Grandal.
  4. Morosi also saying 2/18 with a 3rd year club option, buyout of $2 million. So it's essentially 2/20 guaranteed. Great deal.
  5. He's only 27, considered one of the best defensive OF in all of baseball, he was only at a .1 fWAR last year but 3 previous years he was at 4.6, 1.8, 2.6. He wouldn't be a bad 4th OF, platoon partner for Alcantara in CF or Ruggiano in LF, or a late inning defensive replacement (especially for Bryant when he first comes up).
  6. The Brewers may look to move Parra, he's projected to earn ~$6 million in arbitration. So if they are just looking to trade him to clear salary I'd definitely be interested. Maybe would only take a guy or two out of the Szczur/Beeler/Villanueva/Dunston Jr. type prospect tier.
  7. Rosenthal is on MLBN now live at the winter meetings and said he's hearing Lester gets 7 years, FWIW
  8. I'd be shocked if it's anything less than 2/25 guaranteed.
  9. They probably have one of the wealthiest, if not wealthiest, ownership group in all of baseball. So I'd guess at minimum it's an appeal of a higher salary and more resources. Bigger questions is why Kenny Williams appeals in any capacity to anyone.
  10. They owe a lot of it to their aggressive, risk-taking philosophy that will inevitably produce some C.J. Wilsons. Mike Trout helped a little too. They had a great season, but their short to mid term outlook is...volatile. That's a really talented but old, expensive, injury prone team with lots of declining stars and few contingencies. The could win their division next year, or they could finish last. I'm not sure which one is more likely. But as you say, Mike Trout helps. They aren't finishing behind the Astros
  11. Explore the trade after we (hopefully) sign Lester and they'd shift focus to Scherzer/Shields
  12. I'd be interested. I Wonder if they'd be interested in a Jackson-Wilson trade? They save $16 mil over the next 2 years with that.
  13. That's good to hear
  14. John Henry is a creepy old man with saggy balls, there's no way he left Lester's house without Lester feeling incredibly uncomfortable
  15. That change order PTR had to put in on the scoreboards probably forced him to dive into the payroll budget to cover the overruns.
  16. Andrew Miller@ 4/36 plus draft or David Robertson at 4/50+. I think the Yankees made the right choice. I've seen reports they are still likely to go re-sign Robertson as well
  17. I assume they have pitchers that throw baseballs in the general direction of home plate, so Javy will probably swing and miss at, at least 30%+ of those.
  18. Shane Greene had a pretty nice year least year and decent peripherals, 9.27 k/9, 3.73 FIP, 3.40 XFIP, 1.2 fWAR. FB averaged 93 MPH
  19. Is there even any chance of that whatsoever at this point? To hit FA or him to fall to the Cubs in the draft? FA thing isn't happening, he's going to a JUCO, and he'd either have to get hurt or have his stuff significantly fall off for him to fall to #9.
  20. Bears are winning tonight
