  1. Rea you have my attention. That 89 MPH cutter/slider definitely plays and if he can be 95 out of the pen with the FB and use that curve as a get over pitch he may be a thing.
  2. His FB velo is still below where it was in his elite years by a good ~3 MPH. He was averaging 95 then and hit 97 often. He’s more 90-93 now. But he’s upped the usage on his split/change and he’s throwing the FB and curve less. I like what I’ve seen regardless. He pitches with confidence and has some swag out there. He’s in the bullpen circle of trust for me. Which is pretty much just him and Wick and Ryan on select days. Rea/Tepera/Sadler are close.
  3. He’s the new Cishek. When he was good with the Brewers I know they pitched him a ton back-to-back and he liked doing it. He thinks it helped him stay fresh.
  4. Facing lefties (Where it seems they are a bat or 2 short vs) and wind blowing in/not greatest weather. Hopefully they got a RD game in them soon.
  5. What a dumb base runner and run this would be
  6. Frustrating play there. At least Kb read it well, Javy can get a pass for 1 temporary moment of loss of awareness. Kap isn’t giving out any passes: Lol Kaplan can go horsefeathers his mother

  8. Getting shoved around by a rookie starter, never seen that before
  9. The slider/cutter/knuckle curve or whatever it is, is horsefeathering tonight for Yu
  10. I don’t get the trade Quintana talk. Moving him doesn’t get them under the LT this year, you always need pitching and he isn’t going to return much. He’s a useful pitcher to some capacity for us this year, whether it’s starting or in the pen. Personally I’d get him in the pen ASAP and not worry about him getting stretched out to be a starter once he feels he’s ready to throw in games. Let him build up in the pen/on the side then look at starting him or piggybacking him once he’s able to go 50-70+ pitches depending on matchups. It’s not like we couldn’t use some quality pitchers in the pen right now.
  11. Yeah I don’t have faith they’d take on the money/risk he opts in and I think they’re gonna clearly go under the LT next year. So doubt it, but he’d be a great addition to this lineup. Hopefully Mills remains looking like an option for next year. They should have ~$25 mil to spend and stay under the LT to fill SP spots and any other holes/do extensions. Do they need to stay under the luxury tax next year to avoid bad penalties? I'd hate to think that the last year with all of Javy, Rizzo, Bryant and Schwarber would be a 'stay under the luxury tax' season, but then again who knows if all 4 will be here Opening Day 2021. Maybe if they get JD Martinez and he opts in they find a home for Schwarber or something. They don’t need to but I think they are going to. They’d be third or 4th year repeaters if they don’t and that does bring decent penalties. Luckily they can still add a decent chunk of money with the money falling off and still stay under and the FA market is likely to be depressed with everyone crying poor.
  12. Rosenthal and Kennedy are two guys I wouldn’t mind. Seth Lugo is my top end bullpen target but don’t know what the Mets would want or if they sell to that degree.
  13. It's kind of hard to determine whether someone will opt in or out at this point isn't it? Mookie Betts' contract certainly suggests we could see contract offers at least somewhat in a normal range, but obviously he is a young elite talent while JD Martinez would be heading into FA at 33 during a pandemic that may or may not be worse in November. All this to say, who knows if PTR would allow this if there was even a chance he would opt in. We do lose Lester (most likely), Quintana and Chatwood from the books but obviously that's 3 SPs so I'd expect any offseason focus to be on adding pitchers. 14. Only a few weeks away and it looks like we should be in position to buy somewhat. Bullpen should be number 1 area to add and there will be guys there. But finding someone who can hit lefties seems to be a need to as we seem a bat or two short vs them. Pillar would do (a Pillar-Workman trade would help cover some deficiencies and shouldn’t cost a lot), but I’ll throw out a complete long shot name...... JD Martinez, with the DH he could has a spot here and crushes lefties and likely will opt out in to FA in the offseason ($19 million option). Figure it out Theo.
  15. No Souza is weird, maybe there’s something in whatever data they’re looking at that says don’t play him. But yeah if Almora isn’t playing vs lefties (he shouldn’t, he sucks) what exactly is it that he does here.gif? Get Dietrich or Miller or Perez up here then. I know that you weren't necesarily suggesting bringing up Dietrich to face lefties, but he has a .656 lifetime OPS versus them. Yeah not to come up and play vs them (or play very selectively vs them), but he has some useful skills to deploy and has positional versatility. If Almora isn’t going to play vs lefties (which I agree with) he’s just taking up a roster spot for someone who can contribute something because Almora is a complete horsefeathering zero.

  17. If he generally looks like this I’m guessing some team goes multiple years. But I expect a weird and suppressed FA market, I wouldn’t go more than 1 year at $9-11 mil with an option for $12-15 mil and like a $2-3 mil buyout on him. There’s a decent amount of SP available in FA this year that I wouldn’t really commit to any more than 1 year.
  18. We’re at +13 now. The 2016 Cubs were at +14 through two games and +42 through 11 games. We’re at +24 without shitty and broken Kimbrel and Wieck and garbage ass Brothers.
  19. The Brewers actually horsefeathering suck
  20. Maybe break up Mills and Hendricks in the rotation when they can. May be nothing but similar soft stuff back to back for teams to see has to matter a little bit. Throw Lester/Yu/Chatwood in the middle of them.
