  1. I almost posted that question when it happened. Being that Lackey was already shaky, I'd have pinch hit. The hit by Lackey in the Cards series maybe gave Joe false confidence. Considering how big they are on and often mention the 3rd time through the order stuff I'm surprised they didn't at least have a guy warming in the pen at the very least to begin the bottom half.
  2. Law brought up an interesting point on twitter, one of the few times you could criticize Joe. Let Lackey bat with 2 on in the 6th instead of pinch-hitting for him, especially when we have an absurdly fresh bullpen (granted Cahill/Ramirez gave up runs tonight) and Maddon specifically mentioned them needing to get work pre-game. I think it's a 50/50 call at best given Lackey was pitching well and the PC was in a good spot, but it would have made some sense to pull him then especially because I believe he was facing the order for the 3rd time through in the 6th.
  3. I'm hoping he was rushed getting warmed up because Lackey got pummeled quickly because his stuff and velo was miserable.
  4. Put in La Stella to finish this thing out
  5. Cahill's stuff looks rather mediocre
  6. What in the world, horsefeathering bums
  7. This is good stuff, I haven't looked at the numbers but if I had to guess even going back to last year to this point we are near the top of the league in all these stats as well. Our pitching, outside of Arrieta, gets overlooked. As a side note, I'd be interested to see where we'd rank if you took Arrieta out on those stats going back to last year. It's probably still top 1/3 of the league.
  8. I only include them because the pitching can get dominate. Not overly worried about them on a whole Sorry about this... ...the pitching can get dominant or ...the pitching can dominate Typing from my phone and autocorrect....Dominant was the intended word
  9. yeah who could have foreseen epstein was a genius. if only there was some indication that he wasn't just out [expletive] around with PTR's money How have the Pirates been dumb? They still have most of the same young core but dont have the money to spend around it & a little more of their core based around pitching. I think they are dumb in the sense they've never gone "all in." Ie didn't spend once on a big FA or give up the farm for a piece.

  11. The Nats and the Mets are really the only 2 teams in the NL that i think can be worthy competition. Everyone else has glaring holes/weaknesses or just aren't that good.
  12. I may have to watch the game on the Reds broadcast tonight
  13. It never made sense to me before the year when people were pretty much matter of factly saying that Wainwright was going to be his 4-6 WAR self coming back without a doubt.
  14. Yeah I was going to respond to your comment about him having to pick it up for it to happen but got caught up in the actual Cubs game and forgot. His slash line looks mighty fine if he were to roughly keep it up until Juneish I'd think a promotion would be reasonable. At the same time the K% is high and it would be nice to see him drop that a bit before moving up
  15. The 46 is also only 1 less than Angels and 2 less than the White Sox season runs totals
  16. We've scored more runs, 46, against just the Reds this year than the Phillies have score ALL SEASON (42)
  17. What are the Reds pitching staff numbers vs us this year?
  18. With an off day Monday I'm guessing we will see him at least once between tomorrow and Sunday no matter what
  19. Strop has been downright dominate so far this year
  20. How aggressive do you guys who know think they will be with Happ? I know he's not a Bryant/Schwarber/Russell prospect but could he see AA by June?
