  1. Well, that's exciting. Where's a reasonable ending point of the season for Cease? Eugene? Obviously I'm sure they want to be extra careful with him and he'll be limited on his innings.
  2. The hits aren't there but he's working deep counts (he's seen 45 pitches in the 2 games in in 9 PAs) laying off some tough pitches and has taken 2 BB and has been on base in 3 of his 9 PAs. I wouldn't say he's struggling or looks lost/overmatched at the plate as he seems to be sticking to his approach and working deep counts despite maybe being frustrated that a lot of balls in play don't seem to be falling.
  3. At best he's even with Russell at SS, I think Russell is better though.
  4. Yeah, but what are they going to do with all those SS?!?!???? Lol
  5. I said in yesterday's game thread, Javy is capable of winnning the GG at every infield position
  6. Javy, my god. He 1 armed that within a few ft of a 400+ ft HR
  7. Lol, that was our first 1-2-3 inning on offense of the series
  8. The Cubs are so good they made Ted Cruz suspend his campaign
  9. Georgie hit that ball harder than Bryant's 450 ft single
  10. I think he was asking for an appeal in fear of the HP ump deciding to make the call
  11. Also, Russell's approach at the plate this year has been nothing short of fantastic
  12. Sean Rodriguez has been worth -0.2 fWAR each of the past 2 years, so for as annoying as he is it's probably best the Pirates keep playing him
  13. What the hell were those abs by Rizzo and Zobrist
  14. Let's give them the death blow this inning and take away their will to live
  15. Also the last 3 years vs LHP he's had OPS's of ~.700, ~.470, and ~.800 so it's not like he's guaranteed to be some offensive black hole of production vs LHP and he's shown he can perform just fine vs them.
  16. maddon says he's not playing tonight To piggyback on that, we're facing a lefty, he shouldn't play whether the wrist hurts or not. He has a near 1.000 OPS vs Niese in 31 PAs, so he should be playing against him if healthy. Also he's so good defensively he shouldn't be sitting, "because lefties." Sure if they want to give him an off day it would be preferable that it's a game against a LHP, but he should rarely be sitting if he's healthy.
  17. According to Jesse Rogers on twitter Heyward thought he was playing yesterday until Joe told him he wasn't. So the "injury" can't be too serious and it sounds like he could possibly play tonight.
  18. The players were able to keep their cool/Joe was able to control them in the Cardinals series last year that got heated. I have faith they will be smart enough to do the same in this series if faced with a similar situation, I worry more about a dirty slide or HBP hurting a guy than anyone getting suspended. Hopefully Hurdle and the Pirates are dumb enough to just keep hitting guys in spots that don't hurt them and giving us free runners and our response is just to beat them with the free runners.
  19. The other thing to consider with moving Zobrist to LF, or the OF in general, is he did have a knee problem last year and playing the OF has a far greater impact/wear and tear on the knees than the INF. Not to mention that with the knee issue last year and his age, he likely has pretty limited range wherever he plays in the OF.
  20. Szczur is having an MRI on his hamstring tomorrow
