  1. Best AB KB has had in over a week it seems.
  2. Well Tepera and Adam certainly looked good. Just get hot for a month here offense, because the pitching is more than there .
  3. horsefeathers, Yu may have lost the Cy Young there. Especially since his next start likely is a tune up start and he’s not going to pitch to deep/throw a lot of pitches.
  4. Narrower fairways around the 315-320+ distance where the bombers hit it and longer rough/more trees/bunkers overall + faster greens seem like something that would make some sense in the middle to even the field a bit with the bombers trying to bully courses but also not something that penalizes shorter guys as much. Because yeah, doing something that penalizes everyone still leaves you with guys like Bryson that would maintain a marginal advantage. The PGA Tour isn’t going to ask the courses that hold their events to narrow the fairways at 320. That seems unfair and the Tour likes their long drivers to do well (Bryson, DJ, Koepka, Finau). Plus Bryson can cover that distance already and he’s getting longer and longer. This week’s US Open had some of the narrowest fairways ever with super thick rough and Bryson and Wolff, the longest hitters on Tour, were at the top of the leaderboard because everyone was missing fairways. If Bryson drives it relatively straight compared to the field, there’s nothing you can do to stop him that won’t hurt everyone else more. Oh I generally agree and prefer they just kinda keep it as is. Just if they’re gonna try and change things I’d prefer doing what I laid out vs doing something that penalizes everyone and a guy like Wolff or Bryson will still maintain and advantage. Wolff and Bryson still struggle plenty. The Memorial played close to similar conditions and DJ, Koepka and Bryson all missed the cut or did poorly, the bombers still can struggle and the shorter guys still do plenty well. Bryson hit close to the fewest amount of fairways for a Open winner this weekend. The game is in a good spot, there’s a ton of young talent and there’s plenty of fluctuation and turnover week to week on the leaderboards. I wouldn’t change much.
  5. What’s wrong with a split there? That’s the bare minimum of what they should do. Oh I expect a split but it’s not a bad thing. Especially since they’ll probably be trying some different things with the bullpen and maybe toying with batting order and what not. Hendricks might not be overly pushed in his start either.
  6. His driving is impressive, but his short game and putting was also solid this week. Watch how him and Wolff dismantle Augusta in November. The USGA is set to announce how they will combat the perceived distance problem early next year. You really can’t combat Bryson if he hits it this long and straight without also hurting the shorter players even more. Longer rough, narrower fairways, firmer and faster greens, a spinnier ball, a smaller driver all won’t hurt Bryson more than the average Tour player. Narrower fairways around the 315-320+ distance where the bombers hit it and longer rough, more trees/bunkers overall and firmer/faster greens seem like something that would make some sense in the middle to even the field a bit with the bombers trying to bully courses but also not something that penalizes shorter guys as much. Guys could still try to bomb it, but it carries more risk and shorter guys could still hang and their landing spots aren’t as penalizing. Because yeah, doing something that penalizes everyone still leaves you with guys like Bryson that would maintain a marginal advantage.
  7. Yeah it seems like Schwarbs was pulled for that effort in LF there
  8. Damn, Schwarbs and Vic both just missed some Dongs. Hopefully Schwarbs is fineish (would assume he is based on him sitting in the dugout already).
  9. Cease walked 7 in 3 innings today. Reds up 2-0
  10. I still think he’s closer to a 1.5-2 win player most years and his bat is closer to the .270/.310/.510, ~110 wRC+ player he was last year with atrocious defense. He’s running a ~.340 BABIP this year. That normalizes a bit and he’s right where he is as a hitter last year which is a nice and fun bat who cranks some Dongs but not all that good.
  11. Wonder if Ross pushing him for that 2nd inning last Friday (after pitching Thursday) did him in. He was not good in the second inning.
  12. This could effectively end their window. They needed him to be his regular awesome self. Springer and Brantley FA this offseason, Correa the one after.
  13. If Cohen is going to go be hyper aggressive, trade Theo for some stuff
  14. Yes and it’s a completely legitimate and deserved division championship
  15. I’m fine trying both guys out over the final ~10 here. The underlying stuff on Jeffress is concerning but he is generating swings, just not getting Ks. I do I kinda prefer Jeffress in a traditional closer role where he has some margin for BB/hits vs coming in, in leverage with traffic though.
  16. Ross making questionable moves again. Pinch running Hamilton for Schwarbs with 2 outs in the 6th of a 1 run game is so hyper aggressive. It cost Schwarbs a PA with RISP last inning now and he had to pull Hamilton for Vargas and didn’t even get the defense. Just way over managing.
  17. Schwarber gets fucked by home plate umps more than anyone
  18. Is the team imploding or is Smart just kind of crazy? Yes. Smart took a few shots late that were pretty bad and he just shouldn’t ever really be shooting big shots in close games. Guessing someone(s) called him out and he took offense because he thinks he’s the best player on the team.
  19. Seems like all the DHs are taking a toll and may cost them a playoff spot lol Hudson got hurt too. I kinda want them in as our RD 1 opponent, as discussed the other day. I think they’ll be running on fumes if they get in. Plus they just aren’t all that talented.
