  1. Cease was at ~44 innings this year + EXST. What's a reasonable innings projection/limit on him this year? ~100?
  2. Nats trade Espinosa to the Angles.
  3. I don't think there's a great match but I wonder what it would take to get De Leon from the Dodgers? Would some combination of Szczur/LaStella (could use a major league RH OF option and 3B/2B option), Jeimer, Caritini and like Underwood be enough? Or would we have to include Happ or Almora (not saying I'd do that, just what it would take)?
  4. It's probably a bit of an overpay but I'd do it. I also wonder if that young/controllable/whatever starter doesn't come available because of the acquisition cost or whatever we try and bring back Hammel in a similar fashion like Fowler last year. Doesn't seem to be any rumors out there with Hammel so maybe we wait it out until ST then get him back on a 1 year deal with an option or something. Doesn't help us long-term but helps the depth a lot this year.
  5. This seems like an incredibly reasonable ask to me. Yeah, that's not really a huge ask. Surprised the Astros wouldn't have done that, if that was really the deal.
  6. As a starter probably 2020 as a relief pitcher maybe 2019.
  7. http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2015/7/1/8859137/thoracic-outlet-syndrome-pitcher-effectiveness I guess I didn't realize all these guys had this issue/condition. Recovery still seems a little iffy. Harvey had the surgery last year too and is what he's attempting to come back from as well. FWIW
  8. I like your line ups, but personally I'm not sold on the Almora/Jay platoon in CF. Baez and Zobrist are both better players than Almora and Jay. Playing Almora and Jay regularly will cut into Zobrist and Baez's playing time, unless the Cubs decide to make Heyward the odd man out. To me it seems the best option is to move Heyward to CF full time, Zo in RF full time, Schwarber in LF full time, and Baez at 2B full time. I want Baez's defense on the field as many games as possible, especially at 2B. Almora and Jay can spot start when the match ups favor them or someone needs a day off. Almora will see plenty of playing time late in games as well. Jay to me is nothing more than a 5th outfielder, probably a tier or two better than Coghlan. Trust me, I'm not in love with the idea of moving a perennial gold glover, Heyward, out of his comfort zone in RF to CF, but to maximize Zobrist and Baez's playing time this seems like the only option. This is where I'm at opening day: Zobrist RF Schwarbs LF Bryant 3B Rizzo 1B Russell SS Contreras C Heyward CF Baez 2B To start the year Jay is more than likely a better option over Javy vs almost all RHP
  9. I really like this so, vs RHP Schwarb Bryant Rizzo Zobrist Contreras Russell Heyward Jay ?? It's always fluid with Joe so that or maybe Schwarber LF Russell SS Bryant 3B Rizzo 1B Zobrist 2B Contreras C Heyward RF Jay CF I'd imagine Zobrist leads off vs LHP
  10. I really like this
  11. Yeah, +/- depending on what happens with the rest of the QO FA's.
  12. No, they lose it we get a pick at the end of the first round before the first Competitive Balance Round. So we will have 2 picks within like ~5 picks of each other at the end of the first with the one we own and pick up.
  13. As a non-Bulls fan, but someone who watches and follows a lot of NBA, the Bulls are one of the weirdest teams in the NBA. It wouldn't surprise me if they finish 3-5 in the East or 9-12
  14. The FO has a lot more faith in multiple things happening out of Almora being productive offensively, Javy improving offensively, Jon Jay being worth more than replacement level, Schwarber being decent vs LHP and Heyward rebounding. But that's why they are the best. I would've irrationally overpaid for Fowler because I don't trust multiple of those things happening.
  15. Speculating, what would be ridiculous - 5/$75M? That seems appropriate at $15 AAV. 5/90+ I'd guess
  16. Appears to be done. Oh well, hopefully he sucks and enjoys the well earned money. [tweet] [/tweet]
  17. It would be cool if they started playing him shallower too though so he becomes a negative defensive CF again
  18. Hopefully this is when our next level thinking FO comes in over the top ropes on a deal getting him so much cheaper than the Cardinals thought they were signing him for only to crush their souls even more
  19. Well if he goes there hopefully they give him a ridiculous contract
  20. Uehara and Grimm have reverse splits/are tough on lefties I'm fine with where we are at. If they are okay with his medicals it seems like Ross would be a nice final piece to the staff. He can take his time and start in Iowa and if/when an injury happens in the pen we could shift Monty there and put Ross in the rotation. Or just call him up when he forces his way up, put Monty in the pen and cut the rule 5 guy.
  21. No starter should have to go more than 5-6 innings or 100 pitches with the bullpen we are building/have built. It's like our offense, tons of depth, quality and interchangeable parts.
  22. Like it
  23. They're also getting Longoria at 3B for 6/94 who's a year younger than Turner who is going to cost about the same in AAV to bring back and taking care of their closer/late inning spot without giving a 5-6 year contract and ~$100 million to Jansen. It's not just Urias for Jake. But like I said it was just a stupid 3-team trade I came up with.
  24. Stupid 3-team trade idea of the day..... Cubs get: Chris Archer, Brandon McCarthy and some minor leaguer(s) Dodgers get: Evan Longoria, Colome, Arrieta and Szczur Rays get: Urias, De Leon, Puig, Happ, Jeimer and some other minor league stuff
  25. If that happens I could see Blackmon to the Cardinals for Weaver as the main piece.
