I would quite like bringing him back, assuming the injury issue at the end of the year is behind him (his elbow/forearm I think). It could have been the spin, but the reason for not picking up the option seemed liked it was a favor to him to get a payday. Which who knows if it's true, I think they thought they had a move for SP lined up and didn't need him/want to spend ~$10 mil on a 6th starter. Hammel and Tyson Ross signings would be a nice finish to the offseason.

Good god, what a buffoon. I hope there's still guys in MLB FO with some decision making power with his mindset for our sake. He seems like a guy that thinks Trumbo is as good or better hitter than Votto, because RBIs.

I think we are right around 45 days for pitchers and catchers reporting, I saw late last week on twitter it was just under 50

I've read this 8 times and it still doesn't make sense to me montgomery has two pitches in the top 25 in both grounders and whiffs among pitches that aren't fastballs So does something like this typically translate to starting success (with Carassco cited I'd imagine so) or would it mean we have a potential lights out Andrew Miller relief pitcher?

Yeah someone is going to cave and roughly give that for him. Like you mentioned looking at what Bradford cost, the price for the Rams to trade up for Goff and the overall suckage of QBs in the draft. Someone is gonna give that.

I posted in the Cubs offseason thread (I think that was the one) the other day that him on a 1 year deal or a Fowler deal from last year we should be all over at this point. I'd love to have him in RF and leading off.

I think I'd go Wallace, but playing Lockett/Baldwin should lock in some points and give you a decent floor as those guys are targeted on the majority of Seattle's pass plays but also limit the upside.

This kinda wants me to see us get Bautista on a 1 year deal or 1+option. He's definitely getting less than EE. Move Heyward to CF and Almora/Jay are backups with Bustista in RF and Schwarber in LF. Have Bautista lead off who can replicate Fowler's OBP from last year. Bautista RF Schwarber LF Bryant 3B Rizzo 1B Zobrist 2B Russell SS Contreras C Heyward CF that might be the worst defensive OF in mlb history Not that necessarily wouldn't do it They can be bad for 4-6 innings and score a billion runs then Jay and Almora can come in for super defense

It's not that bad if you're willing to take anyone connected with steroids off the list. I'm not, though. So I consider his ballot to be horrendous. Any submission that doesn't include Bonds should be thrown out. And even excluding steroids...Mike Mussina? Seriously? He has a career war of 82 (bWAR 82.7, fWAR 82.2). He's more than deserving, that's more WAR than 52 pitchers in the HOF already. His 82 career WAR puts him in the range of the likes of Bob Gibson (81.9), Fergie Jenkins (82.8), Nolan Ryan (83.9) and Steve Carlton (84.1). He belongs. -
Need a defense and have a lot of good options, pick 1 Broncos at Chiefs Bills vs Miami Giants at Philly Packers vs Vikings I currently have the Broncos in my lineup and the Bills on my bench but kinda like the Packers at home as a pick up
