  1. It’s not on an app but I would guess NFL Network will carry the regular angle/feed so you can just switch between the 2.
  2. I hate the idea of trading Russell or Schwarber who seem very likely to increase their value this season. Happ and Baez seem about as high as their value is going to get. I’d like to trade one of them (preferably Happ since I’m not as attached to him) for a Gausman/Teheran type. Keep Russell as part of the core and trade Schwarber after his 40hr/950ops season to make room for Harper. Can we please have an off season without people thinking of Teheran as an attractive target? I don't really like him but a Happ for him or Folty + Inciarte intrigues me a bit.
  3. Fair enough, I agree there are certainly red flags but there are also some things I really like that he's a top target of mine if we go the FA route for that 2nd or 3rd starter.
  4. One of my favorite 2nd starter addition options....
  5. I guess that's true. I'm looking at this through Cubs shaded glasses, but I guess I see our selling point is you can come here and do what we think you are best at (pitch) in those games you pitch you will get 2-4 PAs, it's the best way to ease you in with hitting while you likely have a learning curve at pitching in a new league based on those PAs we could grow to give you to PH appearances and down the road as you get more comfortable with pitching we can look at giving you positional starts but this is the best path to overall development and reaching your goals/dreams of being a 2-way player. Plus we have probably the best manager in MLB with moving guys around/positional versatility, culture, etc. Basically we don't want you to fail because you have to focus so much on two things, lets ease you in and promise to grow you from there.
  6. This is bad for us. not if you go with the whole "how much could he possibly care about money if he's coming this year" idea passing up on potentially hundreds of millions of dollars basically in the name of going after a challenge a couple of years sooner has to say something about him, right? right?! Also he wants to hit, nobody is really going to let him play a position to hit on days he's not pitching. His best chance of getting to hit is as a pitcher in the NL, at least right away (once he's over here and gets real game experience if he really is that good then down the road you maybe let him play the OF here and there but that doesn't seem likely) so the fact he already doesn't care about the money and the teams that can offer the most are all AL teams has to matter a bit too that he'd pass them up for a NL team.
  7. You couldn’t do that. MLB doesn’t allow sign and trades, newly signed guys can’t be moved until sometime in May or June I believe.
  8. It can be traded but if you are in the penalty box the individual limits you can spend up to on players still apply
  9. Good for him, I guess. He was passable for a good chunk of the second half. If he wants to pitch and is reasonable in his demands I think someone will sign him (Angels, Padres, Phillies, Braves, Mets, Marlins all seem to make some sense off the top of my head for teams needing some innings eaten).
  10. Yeah he’s not very good. I wouldn’t touch him even for cheap, his game just isn’t where the nba is right now. He requires you to tailor offenses/lineups totally towards him to be effective and he’s not worth that. Especially because it could get in the way of Markkanen’s deveolpment and once Lavine comes back you are gonna want to see what he has/how he works with Markkanen since there’s a relatively small sample to judge him with what to do with his contract in the offseason. Okafor just muddies the waters on the Bulls, imo
  11. I saw a tweet on Melancon earlier, he’s like 3rd in MLB since the early 2010s for RP in BB/9 and 2nd next to Andrew Miller in K/BB ratios. So he certainly fits the “strike thrower” bullpen arm Theo alluded to.
  12. This is a dumb question, I should know, but free agency/trading is completely open right now. Right? A trade or signing could happen like right now if a team/player wanted to?
  13. Probably need to put out the David Bat Signal on this but let’s hope his wife/fiancé (he’s married or engaged, right?) is from California and she would want to move closer to home. If we are looking for reasons he’d waive his NTC.
  14. Yeah unless we are eating all of Samardzija's and Melancon's contracts and throwing in money for Heyward on top of giving up some prospects (Alozay, Maples, Caritini, etc.) it doesn't make a ton of sense. They should just go sign Cain, Gomez, etc or trade for Stanton to fill the OF. Maybe Cueto opting in really fucked up their plans/budget?
  15. FWIW, I think it's been posted but not sure, Heyward is owed ~$127 million through 2023 (assuming no opt outs), Samardzija $54 through 2020 and Melancon $46.5 through 2020. I'd guess we'd get a little cash the next 1-3 years and then we'd be throwing in cash after 2020 (assuming Heyward doesn't opt out).
  16. wow he's so raw, he's only been playing baseball for 16 years. He's basically a newbie We've all heard the cautionary tales of 3 year olds burning out their arms, good thing he waited
  17. Yeah I'd really like this deal, especially if it happens fast here (wouldn't have to trade any other position players for a SP, imo), could wait out Otani and if you miss him could still add Cobb, Chacin, Hellickson, Chatwood, etc. to fill out the rotation then add some combo of McGee, Nicasio, Reed, Oh, etc to fill out the bullpen and maybe even look at a Seth Smith or Cargo on a 1 year deal to take Heyward's spot.
  18. Lol, Jesus Christ. Otani isn’t going to get positional time this year, he can come to the NL and hit the days he starts and maybe be a PH from time to time.
  19. Probably just Stroman but as I’ve made clear I’d rather go a different route and keep Russell.
  20. For 6/160, no thanks that's basically what lester got 3 years ago at the same age. yeah, a little more risk in terms of durability, i guess, but the cubs will be printing more and more money. 160/6 doesn't seem remotely crazy or unreasonable to me for a really good pitcher who has been basically good for a 3-5 win season his whole career aside from the year missed for tjs. I certainly get that he’s worth that/will demand that but there’s enough red flags/alternatives for me that I wouldn’t go there with him. I’d rather have 1 of Jake/Cobb and 1 of Chatwood/Chacin/Hellickson/etc for less years and money combined.
  21. Number 2 is the only remotely good reason to give out that contract He's really good isn't a remotely good reason? For 6/160, no thanks
