  1. I wonder if they had the same offer but was contingent on a trade to move salary and at the end of the day they couldn’t get a trade done? Also Rosenthal said in order to get to 150 he needs to win multiple CY Youngs so that’s not overly likely, hopefully it happens but doubtful. What a steal of a contract.
  2. So $21m a year guaranteed Yeah but whatever the incentives are can bump it in a given year. Either way, great aav
  3. This guy fucks http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2008/0512/mlb_darvish_cover_251.jpg
  4. I agree, I’m just being impatient and frustrated. Theo knows he likely is in a hammer spot and it’s smart not to budge for now. However, 5/125 or whatever around there (5/115, 6/130, etc) just doesn’t seem prohibitive to me and should be a relative no brainer to get to, to just wrap this up. A $25 aav deal would still leave us with ~$10 mil in space to add a contract mid-season, I think. Without looking it all up, I thought they were closer to like $31 million left for luxury tax purposes and $25 AAV is probably as high as they’d want to go. Even with Darvish, odds are they need something at the deadline and you’d like more than a handful of million to work with. $5-8 million then is more than enough space to work with at the deadline, imo. Lock in Darvish now and worry about the deadline at the deadline.
  5. But why do that if you don’t have to? They’d still like some wiggle room for in-season moves as well. I’m sure the Cubs will up their offer a little bit (perhaps quite a bit) if they feel the need to here. Right now it sure appears they’re in a position of power. A $25 aav deal would still leave us with ~$10 mil to add a contract mid-season and still stay under the LT, I think, it was reported a while back the FO felt we had about $35 million left to add to if needed/wanted and still be under.
  6. Levine just said on The Score he’s heard and doesn’t think any SP had a deal for more than $22 million AAV and that if 5/125 was out there for Darvish he’d jump at it and he doesn’t think that (or anything around that high) has been offered yet. FWIW If that’s true, Jesus horsefeathering Christ get to that number and get it horsefeathering done
  7. Levine was just on The Score and was asked something along the lines of other than starter are there any moves we’d see on the periphery before the year. He mentioned a bullpen add, specifically Andrew Cashner. He didn’t say we are talking to him or have a contract offer but he “wouldn’t be surprised” if we got him as a final bullpen piece to be a right-handed version of Monty in the swingman role (he usually doesn’t speculate and usually what he says is sourced a bit). Absolutely sign me up for getting him. He’d be a solid addition and hopefully the stuff would tick up out of the pen and he was a relief pitcher in college.
  8. Not a good day for Heyman. He got called our for reporting the D'backs had a similar offer to the Red Sox 5/125 offer for Martinez by being told it's not true and just Boras using the media to spread rumors. Then he had an article (since taken down) saying he talked to a friend of Donaldson who told him he's looking for a monster deal then Donaldson himself called him out on twitter and said Heyman doesn't know and hasn't talked to any of his friends and he hasn't discussed what he's looking to get with anybody. Then Heyman came back and said it's his belief or something he'd be aiming high and he didn't mean to imply Donaldson has made big demands when that's exactly what the article stated. What a bum.
  9. I bought tickets to the June 13th and September 4th and 5th games today at Miller park, so I guess thanks Brewers for letting me get my tickets at market rate instead of double to triple on stubhub. My Cubs fans family members and friends appreciate it.
  10. Perhaps he will end up with the NE Job but, karma's a bitch, wouldn't be surprised if the Colts, with their hire this year, are amongst the better AFC teams. And McDaniels ends up with one of the worse teams in the AFC, not completely unconceivable when one removes Brady, Gronkowski, amongst others from the NE roster. They have a completely garbage roster and a QB who would be envious of Mark Prior’s shoulder health.
  11. Get your drunk ass out of the weeds Theo and make him an offer to get this horsefeathering done
  12. At least if he goes there it sounds like they’d have to really overpay to get him and if they do he’d pretty much max out their payroll for the foreseeable future. That being said I hope/think this news about the Brewers having the top offer was leaked to get us to up ours a bit and we just go and up whatever we gotta do (5/130? 6/150?) and get this horsefeathers done.
  13. The Brewers apparently have the best offer now but it’s going to take a “good amount” to lure him. How are we still at this point????!?!!! Seems the offers are what they are and have to be damn near best and final by now. Make a decision dude.
  14. The Roberts and Peavy threads were lost to The Great Board Crash of 2016, I think
  15. I honestly think there’s probably just as many Cubs fans as Brewer fans in Wisconsin, or at least ones in the pool that actually go and buy tickets for games. Just in my city alone my friend/family group is split if not leaning Cubs fans and around town I will see just as much Cubs gear as Brewer gear. Also there are a ton of Cubs fans south and southwest of Milwaukee. There are still a ton more in Illinois. And it's not just people in Lake County and northern Cook making the drive up there. Oh I’m not arguing that. I just think if you make an assumption most people going to Brewer games aren’t driving more than 1.5 hours (and likely closer), which is reasonable, and draw that 1.5 hour radius around Milwaukee you would find about as many Cubs fans as there are Brewer fans in that area.
  16. I mean, there's a lot more of them in Illinois. This is kind of a dumb point that I've been seeing made on Twitter, too. It's not going to work to any degree that really matters (their park will still appear flooded with opposing fans to a comical degree), regardless, because this is only for a presale and because there's still a secondary market, but this ploy will probably result in some amount of Brewer fans going that otherwise wouldn't have, both in the attention it's bringing and the fact that they're preemptively selling to WI only residents. The fact that there are still Cubs fans in WI doesn't change the fact that they've eliminated most of them from being eligible to pre-buy. I honestly think there’s probably just as many Cubs fans as Brewer fans in Wisconsin, or at least ones in the pool that actually go and buy tickets for games (the people who are fans in the populated areas 2-5 hours away, GB and north/Fox Valley/LaCrosse probably get to few games a year). Just in my city alone my friend/family group is split if not leaning Cubs fans and around town I will see just as much Cubs gear as Brewer gear. Also there are a ton of Cubs fans south and southwest of Milwaukee.

  18. so, is McD feeling sheepish after the Denver experience or is he hoping to take over in NE eventually?
  19. They couldn’t fill the stadium with their own fans last year in that last 4 game series of the year when they were still in it. Sports talk guys in Wisconsin were begging fans to show up and wanted season tickets revoked from any season ticket holder who sold or gave their tickets to Cubs fans. I doubt many, if any, of their fans will be rushing to buy tickets in this deal. Especially at the premium up charge the Brewers put on Cubs games, you can get to 3+ games against pretty much any non-Cubs team in Milwaukee for the jacked up prices they charge for one game when the Cubs are in town. I’ve gone to games there against non-Cubs teams and sat in the lower level for $20, those are $100-200+ seats when the Cubs are in Milwaukee.
  20. The Packers are going to have to issue new stock to afford Rodgers next contract
  21. I already have tickets to a game there this year. Was at a charity auction thing and bid on and won a box suite to a Cubs game there for either the April or June series. So me and 10 people (most if not all Cub fans) already have one game there. I’ll probably get to 1-3 more (my uncle has season tickets and usually gives me one Cubs game then I usually buy tickets to 1-2 other ones).

  23. That’s sad that they are trying to make our rivalry a thing so hard. This ticket thing won’t even make a difference, all the season ticket holders sell their tickets for Cubs series because it’s the only time they can make any money. Plus I bet there’s nearly as many Cub fans in Wisconsin than there are Brewer fans soooo idk what this will do. Also there’s still going to be thousands of tickets on the secondary market.
