Opening Day is 3 weeks from today so that should hopefully be enough time for him to get better. But if we gotta start the year for the first 2 weeks or whatever with Zobrist/Seal Boy at 2B who cares.
He'll probably be the leadoff guy a lot when he plays vs RHP, but we all know with Joe we are going to end up with about 7 different guys leading off this year and probably 3-4 of them seeing 30-40 games there at least.
If he has another year this year like the last 2 where he can only go 140-160 innings and has those minor injuries, at 31, I could see him being in the Jake/Cobb boat next offseason wanting a 9 figure deal for 5+ years and nobody willing to give it.
He did strike out the side but I think at least 2 of the counts he threw 1-2 balls. I watched his inning this morning since I missed the game and had it DVR'd. Either way though he looked great.
I'd be in and take Team A. I've been wanting to do a long term keeper league for MLB but don't have enough friends who care enough about baseball to do it. PM me what info you need from me.
Zach Davies had an oblique injury and may miss the start of the year, that means 3 of Wade Miley, Junior Guerra, Yovanni Gallardo, Brandon Woodruff or Brent Suter will be in the Brewers rotation to start the year. VAUNTED DEPTH.
Sounds like Carpenter likely won’t be ready for opening day with a back issue and Matheny had this gem of a quote on it. Also apparently Pham is unhappy with the amount the Cardinals decided to pay him in his last year before arbitration
Maddon on MLB Radio is saying how he’s hoping to find a few extra offdays this year for KB and Rizzo. Hopes they don’t need them for 155+ games and doesn’t want that. With the extra off days built in the schedule he’s going to try and maximize that with giving off days around them for double rest. FWIW
Darvish likely done. 2IP 0H 1R 1ER 2BB 4K (2 wild pitches, 1 pop out and 1 flyout). Sitting mid 90s on the FB. Overall good work after he settled in after about 7-9 pitches.
Chris Taylor still annoys me on the level of the yearly Cardinals random player generator that comes out of nowhere every year to be good for no reason.
Probably depends on a individual basis. You would think you wouldn’t want your relief pitcher coming in the game winded or with an elevated heart rate though by the time he has to pitch.
Hendricks was hitting 90+ MPH in his last ST according to Cubs Insider. That’s very encouraging and it appears he’s overcome the 75 MPH fastball Duke Curse.
