  1. The 40-man is full, wonder who’s the next guy to go/is there a trade brewing?
  2. Heuer and Roberts will be put on the 60 day once they can make that move and guessing one of those open spot is used for a vet RP.
  3. I think the expansion to 12 teams in the playoffs will help - more schools can credibly claim to have a shot. I think NIL keeping more kids in school longer will also help - fuller rosters will trickle some of that talent down to more programs. We won’t see actual parity. But instead of maybe 2 or 3 schools with a legit title shot every year, we might get 5 or 6. I don’t think 12 teams does horsefeathers for any sort of parity. There’s always going to be like 2.5 teams that can win and that’s it. 12 teams just drags out the process and we get more blowouts. It will just be UM beating Tenn by 30 then losing to Bama by 30, OK beating UCF by 30 then losing to OSU by 30, USC beating ND by 30 then losing to Clemson by 30, LSU-Wisc winner losing to UGA by 30 then we get a Bama-OSU-UGA-Clemson final 4 a month later.
  4. This seems like really poor architecture/design. Paying $5/7+ bil for a stadium that is allegedly domed and rain can get in.
  5. Kingsbury was also the exception in that he wasn't a particularly good college coach either. 35-40 overall, 2 winning seasons out of 6(and none in his most recent 3), never more than 8 wins in a season(his first season). Texas Tech can be hard to recruit to, but not that hard. He had Baker Mayfield at Tech and ran him off. Is that a bad thing? Mayfield sucks and is a fraud.
  6. Why exactly would the Ravens not franchise or extend Lamar? Are they blowing it up? His injury could be worse than is publicly known maybe? Also doesn’t he represent himself and doesn’t have an agent? Maybe him the the team are just at a bad spot with negotiations? The Ravens also seem like an org that think they can plug and play a QB vs paying a guy a top 3-5 deal in the league.
  7. Morikawa just had one of the biggest blowups I think I’ve ever seen for Rahm to win. He was up 9 strokes today and lost by 2.
  8. Are there meaningful at bats at 3B to be had for a bench bat? Morel, Wisdom, and probably one of McKinstry/Mastrobuoni will be on the roster, Mervis & Hosmer are going to get meaningful 1B/DH at bats, and that addition regardless of position will suck up further DH opportunities. You can make a similar point for other positions too, so my point is really I don't think it matters much what the bat can do positionally, though if anything I'd lean towards it needing to be an OF. I think 3B could be a severe problem. Wisdom might suck, Morel is an unknown and may suck and also is probably better used as a roving utility guy, the LHH options are fine but also may need to be used elsewhere. Anderson also can play OF, I just want a little more backfill at 3B. The best option, obviously, is to just suck it up and sign Correa for 3B. Then all of Wisdom, Morel, Madrigal, LHH options, Velazquez come become true utility/bench guys and have options and you have a fairly deep roster.
  9. Agree we need to add some sort of RHH, preferably someone who can plan some 3B. Brian Anderson as a FA maybe?
  10. Madrigal has no fit on this roster. Trade him plus one of the fringe 40-man pitchers we have for the best, closest to the league guy who isn’t on a 40-man or a 2-1 swap for one who makes sense. Maybe they try and sneak a Mckinstry, Kay or other type through waivers soon as you mentioned, with most teams having roster crunches. Regardless there has to be a trade(s) brewing and/or trying to sneak a guy through soon.
  11. Jordan Wicks could be up soon too
  12. I'll go with 85-87 wins. Run prevention and overall depth will be enough to boost a slightly below average to average offense. And I think the pitching is really deep, don’t have the ace/anchor but they have a lot of solid arms.
  13. A lineup vs RHP should be pretty good. There’s R/L balance, contact/power/OBP balance. Happ LF Suzuki RF Hosmer 1B Swanson SS Bellinger CF Nico 2B Mervis DH Wisdom/Mckinstry/Mastrobuoni/Morel 3B Gomes/Barnhart C
  14. In that they weren’t supposed to win in 2015. The wild card was a surprise. I would say a wild card berth would be equally surprising this year. It will only be similar if Davis and PCA and Mervis all come up and are raking. And one of the young pitchers step up ala Jake. Steele or Wesneski I think are potential TOR guys so we have that. There was a report today Davis is already looking good and doing stuff in Arizona. Mervis is the Rizzo wildcard and PCA would be a really aggressive promotion this year, imo.
  15. If Hosmer is basically free there’s still money for Mancini then there’s also Wisdom as RHH power options. Assuming Correa goes through with the Mets Canha or Escobar could be options too. I still see 3B as a major hole with basically only Wisdom and whatever LHH we keep between Mckinstry and the guy we got from the Rays (and they’re really more bench utility guys vs guys you want playing there every day). Brian Anderson is still a FA too and I guess could be worth a flyer. Did Longoria sign somewhere? D’backs last week.

  17. In theory yea, growing up I remembering hearing a kid a town, city, county over or national news story, whatever that a kid collapsed with a weird heart/underlying undiagnosed condition maybe 2-5 times. And to play middle and high school sports our school required us to have a physical to be cleared to make sure we had no heart or underlying stuff (or if we did make sure it was monitored/medicated/taken care of). So was something I at least remember hearing/thinking about as a kid. I had a friend in college who played D3 basketball suddenly die of an underlying/undiagnosed heart issue.
  18. 18-24 hours isn’t making a difference. Call the game. Playing tomorrow isn’t making a difference with these guys mental states.
  19. If me and my wife have the same names and roughly the same address as a pro golfer who’s in the The Masters and the invite is mailed to me instead I think I take my chances and show up and try and see if they let me in and play. “You sent me an invite and that’s my name, let me in the field.”
  20. Where has Mallee been the last few years? Did he go to the Angels with Joe or Baltimore with Hyde? Or was he just reassigned in the org?
  21. So our catching depth is Gomes/Barnhart and then Amaya maybe by July? Seems not ideal
  22. The Braves must employ a cabal of people who have information to blackmail their players to sign these ridiculous deals. The Acuna and Albies contract especially are theft.
