  1. I think Ozzie Albies might just be 2B Almora. From May on for the rest of the season he hit .254/.294/.409 .304 wOBA 87 wRC+ 5% BB rate and hit only 10 HRS from June on and only 4 after the ASB. His minor league numbers aren’t all that special either. Not saying they should trade him for Realmuto but it’s not a crazy ask, imo, he’s not in the Acuna, Soto, Vlad Jr class of prospects/young players. Selling high on him might be smart if they can get Realmuto and replace him in a deep FA MIF market.
  2. Yeah the Mets are basically paying Diaz 5/60 plus prospect capital. They could just of signed like 2 of Ottavino, Allen, Britton, Miller and a 2B for a little more than that and then used one of those prospects to dump Bruce to someone or just kept all the prospects and spread the risk/money over multiple relievers instead of one.
  3. Because they blew a lead against Bama? Because they beat...Florida? I just think they’re better than OSU and Oklahoma
  4. I'd still keep Georgia in over Oklahoma and OSU, it won't happen but they're the best team of those 3. IMO.
  5. What about...... Contreras, Q and Kintzler for Kluber or Bauer (plus a prospect back) then Happ, Adbert and make them take Duensing and maybe other prospect stuff for Realmuto and Conley. Then sign Bryce?? I'm sure the Marlins have about 20 better offers for Realmuto than this one. I meant to include Amaya in that

  7. If this holds up, it's basically the Vernon wells trade. You read the players involved and you're like "Okay okay this all makes sense" but you keep reading and you never find that other ~$30m the deal needs to actually be fair. If the ~$30 mil is paid out to Diaz it’s because he’s worth it though. They’re essentially paying ~$80 million for Diaz and taking on Cano’s dead weight plus maybe giving up prospects. Just sign like 1-2 of Ottavino/Allen/Miller/Britton/Robertson and one of the infielder FA for likely -$60 million or less and end up in a better spot vs doing this. Because individually you’re out of all those deals sooner and none are going to sink you if they go bad. The Mets are betting huge on Diaz being insanely valuable moving forward and/or on Cano somehow being productive at an age few guys are.
  8. Holy horsefeathering horsefeathers, Mets. LOL [tweet] [/tweet]

  11. I’m just saying in terms of people thinking LaStella is this great pinch hitter, Heyward has done what he does as a PH. It’s not like we lost anything for the people who put weight in to LaStella’s pinch hitting being a skill if freaking Heyward can do what he does/did.* *I’m pretty certain PH really isn’t a skill. We’re talking small samples and in the end good hitters will hit regardless of situation and bad hitters won’t over the long haul. Twitter, I know, is freaking out how valuable LaStella is for being a PH and how it’s a loss. I saw that Heyward nugget and thought it was a little interesting that LaStella has this great tool that bum ass Heyward also has.
  12. Which historic free agent was Tommy helping cripple the Cubs from being able to sign? 13. Marwin or Lowrie or Segura hopefully but reminds me of the Cubs Prospects guy’s tweet the other day. I bet it’s Dietrich or Spangenberg [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  14. This seems like an odd move for both teams. Mariners aren’t maximizing Diaz’s return, Cano is a sunk cost sooner than later for the Mets and they’re allegedly giving up decent prospects in the deal. Instead of taking on Cano’s money why not just sign one of the FA RPs or two?
  15. Heyward is pretty close to LaStella in career PH numbers, he’s like ~3 hits or BBs away from having better numbers. I think we can overcome.
  16. This move made a lot of sense given he was out of options and he started costing money this year (think $1.5 was the arb estimate).
  17. Not spending on a Pollock or Britton also doesn’t mean they’re not willing to spend on the right guy like Bryce. If a reporter heard we aren’t going to go 3-5 at $18-20 aav on Pollock or ~3 years at ~12 aav on Britton they certainly could take it to mean we have no money to spend but we also just might not want to spend the type of money it takes for an oft injured OF on the wrong side of 30 or a relief pitcher who’s also over 30 and has had to deal with injuries and declining results recently but would spend money on the right guy.
  18. I don’t think Loxas has been a serious news breaker or has had sources in a long time. He just kinda reappeared at Cubs Insider recently. Regardless that isn’t good to hear and that Arenado blip in the article doesn’t make sense to me. He’s 3 years older than Harper/Machado, seems weird we’d take the gamble to wait on and get him when we have these two right in front of us now and opt for the 29/30 year old in 2020 who plays the same position as our best player.
  19. Wonder if we are a team who’s discussed Martin in a salary swap situation. We allegedly went hard after him in FA a few years back. He’s owed $20 mil yet and has a 16.4 LT hit. Also the pirates should trade Cervelli to Japan like the Padres did with Villanueva. Get that horsefeathers as far away as possible.
  20. 40-man is now full. Wonder if we have a trade cooking or planned non-tenders
  21. If he has options left is he just the Mike Freeman replacement? Or is he the replacement for Russell if he’s non-tendered or traded? He’s a cheaper option and not all that much worse than the Hechavarria’s, etc’s of the world. His fielding numbers at SS seem good enough and he has a ~.270/.320/.330 slash vs lefties and ~7% BB% and 15% K% for his career vs them (would assume that’s where most of his starts come shifting Javy to 2B and Zobrist to OF vs LHP). As the last position player on the 25 man who can play SS that’s mostly fine, I guess. He also just turned 26.
