  1. Taking this to the next step, what do you think the opening day lineup will be? I’ll go; 1. Almora CF 2. Bryant 3B 3. Rizzo 1B 4. Zobrist DH 5. Javy SS 6. Bote 2B 7. Willy C 8. Heyward RF 9. Happ LF
  2. Allegedly we offered Brian McCann more than what the Braves did (don’t know if that means more years or just money for this year) and were in on Maldonado but he wanted a job with more playing time (also since we’re poor we probably didn’t sweeten the offer enough).
  3. I’ll gladly take it (they’ll be 5 of the most well places GBs we’ll ever see most likely) and hope he does well and figures it out to be a solid contributor all year. I’m not actively rooting against him to be bad or anything, just frustrates me to see him put in spots/roles he shouldn’t be in a lot of the time.
  4. Did Tazawa get hurt? He only went .2 innings (only 2 batters faced) then Maples came in. Gonna chalk up Maples outing to him not being entirely ready to come in.
  5. Kintzler and Duensing both looked like dog horsefeathers today. Glad they seem to have little competition and are pretty much guaranteed a job out of ST. Duensing gave up 2 Dongs and Kintzler was getting behind everyone and gave up some hard contact.
  6. Bryant, Rizzo, Zobrist, Willy, Bote, even Javy I’d all like to see over Almora there vs LHP.
  7. He’s fine to play vs lefties, preferably he’s hitting lower in the lineup still as we still have 4-6 better leadoff options vs LHP than him. I know I’m somewhat irrational, but that June on last year was BAD and there isn’t a ton to fall back on to be overly optimistic he’s going to figure it out. He might just be a shitty offensive player and our manager loves him.
  8. did Almora punch you or a loved one in the face No, I just don’t like shitty players on my team. Especially ones put in a role they aren’t qualified for and are overplayed.
  9. Pretty much guarantees Almora leads off/takes our first AB of 2019, horsefeathering fantastic.
  10. We should be excited because he could be a fast mover and make Russell disappear. I don’t think he’s going to be a star but a solid regular (2-4 win player) and safeish floor. I see a SS DJ Lemahieu in him +/-. Much thanks! How fast a mover? Like Sept 2020? If everything breaks right (he should start in AA this year) he could be up later this year. But yeah maybe next June-July as the earliest in a more realistic (but still fast tracked) case as being up for good. Certainly a September callup next year. I’d say look at Happ/Schwarber timeline if everything goes right. And with the Lemahieu comp, you’d hope he has a little more BB ability and/or power but he’s still plenty useful if he can be Lemahieu at SS with at least average to a tick above average defense.

  12. C: Yasmany Grandal ($75) 1B: Cody Bellinger ($75) 2B: Anthony Rendon ($75) SS: Eugenio Perez ($100) 3B: Kris Bryant ($50) OF: Mike Trout ($200) OF: Aaron Judge ($75) OF: Kyle Schwarber ($75) OF: Bryce Harper ($100) DH: JD Martinez ($200) ————————————————- $950 (Will PM Bench Players Shortly)
  13. Lebron hasn’t played defense in a few years, but this year has been especially funny to watch. He just doesn’t care. He just kinda roams around out there and plays free safety and switches for no reason all the time. It’s something.
  14. Of course Almora is leading off on the one game on TV this week.
  15. “Darvish not mentally tough enough to hear boos” -Jesse Rogers
  16. I wonder how much shifting even goes on in independent league and MILB without (i'm assuming) the amount of advanced scouting that there is in MLB. I remember reading an article last year about shifting and teams that do it a lot, specifically, have their minor leaguers do it blindly and it’s not based on scouting reports just to get use to the positioning. Like vs a LHB 2B shifts to short RF, SS to 2B and 3B to SS regardless if the scouting report would say to do so. Iirc
  17. The game is on MLBN at 7:40 CT tonight, live not a replay, FWIW. No Darvish though, even though today is his day to start, he's doing a sim game/side session instead.
  18. For 1B bigger so the runner has more space to step to avoid a collision? 2B with the new slide rule it helps protect the fielder a bit to give him more base to play with to hold it? 3B, no idea other than conformity.
  19. The 3 batter thing is still dumb as is absolutely no mound visits. But anything for robot umps.
  20. Matched his half assed overall effort and attempt to blow the team up this year. Can’t imagine why the fans wouldn’t be overly enthusiastic to applaud him.
  21. I’m sure that contact management will come around any day now. The walks are especially concerning too, since he doesn’t have swing and miss stuff and relies on BABIP luck he can’t be giving free passes.
  22. Yeah it's not accurate. I think when games are played in a park without pitch fx they have to rely on stringers, and when games are inconsequential enough the stringers don't even bother with pitch by pitch info. I believe if you Gameday minor league games at the really low levels it's the same (or at least was not too long ago). The Chatwood stuff is really encouraging. Spring stats are mostly meaningless, but there was a study a few years back that showed that K/BB numbers do actually mean a tiny bit. If back in November there was a ~30% chance of him being fixed for 2019, those odds might be more like 40 something now. He's still probably trash, but the needle has moved. I think the lack of walks are pretty significant and important for him so far. He was so broke last year he couldn’t navigate through a high school lineup without issuing walks. Not seeing walks so far is something to be encouraged by/take a little bit away from.
