  1. KB “towering (according to twitter)” 3-run Dong
  2. I’d go Javy, Segura, Marwin, Anderson, Sanchez, Severino and Flaherty. Not a fan of any of the other pitchers outside of maybe Clevinger.
  3. That looks mighty balk-y Good thing they stopped calling balks about 10 years ago it seems.
  4. This is such a Mets story
  5. The Rockies offered Arenado 7/245, would be the highest AAV deal in history.
  6. I still don’t see how a high AAV and low year deal is in his best interest, outside of some easily achieved options. Assuming he has $280-300+ million deals available. Lock in that guaranteed money, dude. But either way it’s ridiculous we can’t be in on negotiations in any way of it.
  7. The pitch was a strike, but he caught it like a horsefeathers and it was called a ball. Cool glove though and thing they’re doing with the extra L.
  8. He did a great job taking the tiny face challenge to a new level this year with the weight loss
  9. I can think of another thread that cursed us more
  10. Bote got hit in the head, hopefully it was more precautionary than anything.
  11. The bullpen is going to be good, I just have no clue who the actual good pitchers will be (outside of Strop, Cishek, Morrow when healthy and Carl at least here and there. Someone(s) will rise to the top and breakout from the quantity of guys we have.
  12. and they can't even make money off that hotel They’re basically the Bluth’s
  13. For fucks sake, guarantee the guy a few mil and be done with it. He’d be a really nice addition.
  14. Bryant healthy is just like adding a MVP!
  15. Has there been anything on the record about him having a full time starting job? Or did you mean you're surprised he's getting a roster spot at all? Happ or Heyward should be getting every start in center against a RHP, and Almora is fine against lefties. Is Russell allowed to participate in spring training/spring training games? If he's not MLB ready when the suspension expires, that buys us a couple weeks to figure out the roster move/see his face. Russell can be a full participant in ST stuff I’m 99% sure, just has to sit the first ~month for the suspension. Joe has said some things about how he thought Almora was better vs RHP last year and indicating he’s closer to a full time guys vs short side of platoon guy like he should be at most. I’m saying yes to all that... surprised he’s being guaranteed a roster spot out of camp and he shouldn’t be, imo, Russell or no Russell and we should’ve brought in someone to compete on a minor league deal at the least. He’s the definition of going potential over production to start the year.
  16. I was just looking at Almora's numbers last year, I know everyone died in the second half but dear lord did he horsefeathering suck from July on. .232/.267/.281 slash line, 48 FORTY horsefeathering EIGHT wRC+, .243 wOBA, 4% BB and 19% K rate and that was with a .282 BABIP. The underlying stuff doesn't say it was all that flukey, he might just really horsefeathering suck. It's crazy we didn't at least bring in an Austin Jackson, Cameron Maybin, Carlos Gomez type and he's just getting a guaranteed job. He won't be part of the discussion but when Russell is back in May (this is going to happen so just dealing in the reality), Almora should definitely be in consideration for the guy to be sent down to make room if Bote is hitting and there's no injuries.
  17. That’s the good stuff
  18. bWAR is for losers
  19. IF ONLY THERE WERE SOME WAY TO ALLEVIATE THIS VEXING CONUNDRUM. Play Almora everyday
  20. He sure likes to call his guys out publicly and now this is the second guy (Ozuna too) whom they seem to be fighting with over training and how injuries are treated and rehabbed.
  21. Well, yeah. Hopefully we get 2-3 good years out of him yet.
  22. Chatwood (whom I liked) is really the only larger contract we gave out that you could argue the process behind the signing wasn’t sound. The results have lagged on some but it’s hard to argue against the process. We got Darvish less than he was projected to get and that 6th year thrown on was effectively for LT purposes.
  23. In the not fun bold predictions, Almora and Descalso finish top 3 in most appearances batting leadoff on the team.
