  1. We have the same amount of players as them projected for 3+ WAR (KB, Rizzo, Javy And Schwarbs vs Goldschmidt, Dejong, Carpenter and Ozuna) more than them over 4 (Rizzo And KB vs Goldschmidt) and the only one at 5+ in KB. We also project for more offensive WAR 28.1 vs 25.8 and their entire rotation is full of question marks. Martinez, Wacha and Reyes off injuries (all 3 have been hurt every year the last few years as well), Wainwright’s corpse, Flaherty (who I think is good) and Mikolas who are a bit unproven. Idk, they have more question marks than us in the rotation. Probably more upside but more downside and volatility. Imo. Carpenter at 3B could be a disaster as well, he can’t really throw and Ozuna is coming off a shoulder surgery and allegedly is behind for swinging and throwing already.
  2. Here's what he said about Amaya and Hoerner...
  3. it was cancelled like 2 seasons ago Doing it every night was, but they still did a Sunday show and like 1-2 shows during the weeknight I believe. They also had Intentional Talk on everyday last year (Millar and Rose show). Which isn’t special but would’ve been nice to see them keep some sort of baseball show in that slot.
  4. We should look at picking this guy up if he’s healthy. Seems pretty solid to join the throw horsefeathers against the wall group.
  5. They're just dying a very slow motion death; eventually it'll be the same deal with their football or basektball-specific shows, too. Why is somebody going to wait for ESPN's shows specific to the sport they like when they can just turn on the 24/7 networks instead? I don’t think they’re going to do the same with football or basketball anytime soon, they’re doubling down on them. They’re pretty much all Lebron/NBA/NFL year round now for their shows, which is fine. I’m glad there’s an MLBN to watch, but they still have some trash shows. Would be nice if ESPN still had theirs to watch when MLBN had a trash program or segment on.
  6. I'd think rangy and young OF Jason Heyward would look great running down balls in that huge outfield. (except that one time last year that ball hit off his head and he got injured or whatever.....) If you trust Ian Happ as the backup CF, Heyward for Cueto makes a ton of sense for both teams (Cubs would likely need to pay down Heyward's salary a bit in 22/23). I’d only do that trade if the savings led to Bryce. But agree that swap makes some sense. Let Cueto rehab all year and he’s a rotation option over the next 2-3 years as guys become FA’s. I trust Happ in CF but wouldn’t love the OF going in to the year if it was just that trade and no Bryce or any other FA OF added.
  7. Almora, Kintzler Or Duensing and a prospect for Will Smith and sign Maybin or Austin Jackson.
  8. [tweet]https://twitter.com/awfulannouncing/status/1090006631193010176[/tweet] I know it largely sucked, but still kinda sucks to see BBTN be canceled. Also, imo, is kinda weird Espn is killing any non live broadcast baseball show considering they pay so much for the rights to broadcast. You’d think a daily/nightly show would help drive interest/viewers to their games, but what do I know. I guess 24 hours of Lebron updates and NFL/college football centered shows from May-September is where the viewers are.
  9. The time he tried to fight the entire Reds team was pretty baller
  10. What a horsefeathering great offseason
  11. That or Heyward. If you ignore how Heyward has preformed, at the time it was a total “we don’t need this $184m player but horsefeathers it I want him” move. Plus the direct shot at the Cardinals (and how he supposedly took less money than...the Giants were offering, I think?). Think you’re right, he took less (allegedly) than both the Cardinals and Giants offered to come here and it was primarily those 2 and a third or 4th team. Maybe the Rangers or Padres?
  12. I have no doubt in my mind Sofa would be complaining about some aspect of a Machado or Harper signing by next year at this time.
  13. I’d bet he ultimately gets about what was expected. The optics and process of this offseason sucks and it needs to change how long this takes and the teams crying poor is absolute BS but ultimately it seems guys are getting around what they were projected to (if not a little more). Imo.
  14. Yeah, I guess at the least it showing Kintzler and Duensing they aren’t guaranteed jobs. They have so many guys to throw against the wall right now.
  15. Jimmy’s down
  16. He’s the first Driveline guy we’ve brought in as far as I know. I like that, at the least hopefully some of his teachings/learnings/theories from them will rub off on guys and/or they’ll switch to Driveline training.
  17. The Padres are allegedly in on Machado
  18. I really wanted him (figuring he’d only cost about this) but yeah, not gonna lose sleep. Don’t feel great Duensing/Rosario/Ryan are the only real lefty bullpen options as I’m guessing Monty will stay in more the swingman/longer relief/full inning and not matchup role.
  19. The few weeks they’re good will be fun (hopefully we don’t play them when this taking place) until everyone breaks like always and they’re nothing special.
  20. Who says no to Almora and Zack Short (or a similar prospect) for Castellanos? Heyward and Happ can handle CF, Castellanos takes a corner spot and can play some 3B/1B. A lineup of Zobrist 2B/Bryant 3B/Rizzo 1B/Castellanos RF/Schwarber LF/Javy SS/then Willy C /Heyward/Happ CF in either order 7/8 is a pretty nice and balanced lineup. I like knocking Javy down to 6 with all the OBP guys in front of him.
