  1. Per Jesse Rogers there was a big fight going on.
  2. Castro is a really good comp. I'd expect a few more walks but that's not enough for me to quibble. Yeah I like a Starlin/Lemahieu (taking out some of the Coors inflation) type with more walks as a comp and also at least a little more versatile defensively.
  3. Was his ceiling all that much higher if Schwarber could’ve stayed at catcher? I guess I was assuming he wouldn’t have stayed at catcher but if he could have then that definitely changes things. Yeah I don’t think it was likely he stuck there either. But it seemed to be the plan to start using him more in 2017 after Ross was gonna be gone and rotate him and Willy there and in LF along with Montero. Who knows maybe he would’ve been able to develop there if he doesn’t blow out the knee in 2016. Even as a guy who can catch 30-45 games a year right now as he is, that still would add a lot of value if he’s remotely decent back there.
  4. I would go with Russell. His ceiling was higher. Was his ceiling all that much higher if Schwarber could’ve stayed at catcher?
  5. :flythew: #WeAreGood #2ndHalfCubs. Solid win now go catch a heater
  6. Even Javy doesn’t have the wizardry to be safe on that one
  7. This FO seemingly almost never wants to admit a mistake by dumping a player. Someone needs to stage a fight with him, like Jake and Montero in 2017 so Theo has no choice but to cut him.
  8. Kyle Ryan is firmly in Justin Wilson territory for me where I know he’s getting decent results (and even the underlying stuff says it isn’t totally fluky) but I will never trust him in a big spot/close game.
  9. Almora down to a .284 OBP and 73 wRC+. Just send him down and let Happ have a chance, or better yet make a trade for a good baseball player.
  10. That pay off still doesn’t seem nearly high enough. Probably better off risking/throwing $10 away on a powerball or scratch offs.
  11. Him being able to play CF is probably the most valuable position for him, for this team now and in the future. OF/CF is a big weakness in the org, MIF (especially 2B) is a relative strength. So hopefully they stick with him in CF and he shows he can handle it. Not to be pedantic, but is there a big difference between 2B and CF? Below Nico you have Ademan and Strumpf at 2B, and also Roederer and Davis. Above him you have Almora and Russell both looking like zeroes, and I guess Bote(although I'm not sure he's an every day 2B), and Happ can be mediocre defensively at both. But for 2020 and beyond they look similar to me, unless I missed someone. Davis and Roederer are far enough away and have questions about CF long term, Almora is really the only other guy there in the system, and I guess Happ no? For 2B there’s Bote, Russell, Happ, Ademan, Strumpf, and that’s not including Robel who maybe is a thing and also just my thinking it’s easier to find 2B at any level than CF (especially a potential guy who is solid to plus out there in a lot of aspects of his game).
  12. That's really aggressive, but I love it. Him being able to play CF is probably the most valuable position for him, for this team now and in the future. OF/CF is a big weakness in the org, MIF (especially 2B) is a relative strength. So hopefully they stick with him in CF and he shows he can handle it.
  13. I wish they were trying him in CF, honestly. Just as much for this year as next year. Yeah, I was going to mention this. I think they might consider it in the offseason and I believe some scouts (not for the Cubs) think that would be his best position defensively. I guess if Robel Garcia is the REAL DEAL and looks legit (and can handle 2B next year) then maybe you consider playing Nico in CF. Not sure honestly, but more versatility never hurts. Yeah and with Bote and Robel around for this year at least 2B should be covered. CF/OF is the hole in the team now and next year. Plus with Nico being a SS all these years you’d figure 2B would be a pretty easy transition, CF would be the real test but if he works out there it probably helps the team the most.
  14. I wish they were trying him in CF, honestly. Just as much for this year as next year.
  15. Bryant’s wRC+ with RISP for his career is the same as Nolan Arenado’s overall career wRC+ (They’re both like 121). That’s kind of a crazy stat/factoid, to me.
  16. I, personally, think he should go on a run like this for the entire second half.
