  1. Hendricks velocity at least seems good and he’s giving up soft, or softish, contact. A little unlucky on the GBs
  2. That was pretty much the same ball Descalso didn’t even get close to the other day in Cincy
  3. A cooler team would win a full grown adult. The Pecota guys keeping quiet in the background as their ability to see the future is once more in play. Those assholes still have a woefully flawed projection system. horsefeathers them.

  5. i'll bite on this. if you told me the end goal of the tank years was to get right back to the 6-8 spot in the East (which is where they were before they blew the whole thing up), that would've been pretty unacceptable. i like Lauri and i think White should be good (not overly huge on WCJ, but he's a decent piece too), but to me, it seems like 99% of GM's would've been fired for whatever the hell this rebuild ended up being. but, you know, Jerry. It’s obviously not the goal or desired end result, they’re still building and young and there’s gonna be incremental steps short of lucking in to a #1 pick who’s a true franchise guy or some FAs wanting to come. Accomplishing a 6-8 seed this year would be a step in the right direction with the young guys, it’s not like chasing one with the Taj Gibson’s of the world. Hopefully guys grow or even break out and you can figure out who’s worth keeping around long term and looking at a big FA add soon.
  6. Look forward to them saying it’s not overly serious and all he needs is rest then he doesn’t come back when they thought and has a set back/never feels better. Then in September they finally do the right test to diagnose and treat him but it’s too late for him to come back but he could’ve been back had they done the proper testing and rehab now. 7. Alec Mills pitched tonight (he’s been quite good lately), knowing Adbert is a bit of a wild card for now and with Hendricks going tomorrow as a wild card/likely pitch count it seems like it would’ve been wise to not start Mills in Iowa and call him up tonight or hold him back for tomorrow as a call up to soak some innings so we could use him or a long guy like Monty or Chatwood for 2-4 innings and not be forced to use Brach for 1+ and then Wick for 1+ and completely horsefeathers the game up. Bang up job with the foresight and roster construction once again, Theo.
  8. Holy horsefeathers, are Happ's numbers that low? They’ve completely ruined him
  9. We’ve had 2-4 guys on the roster all year that this describes, gonna have to be more specific.
  10. The Bulls should be the 6 to 8 seed this year, which with this young core is a nice building block season to get that experience.
  11. What has he shown improvements on? He’s a disaster in the OF and K’ing 30% of the time and not walking that much or hitting for average? I think everyone here would admit Schwarber is having just an average, okay year (it’s a good thing we really only need him to be like our 5th best player and we can get away with him being this, however annoying it is). Eloy is showing that all the worries about him are true and it’s going to be hard to be that super star so many were saying. He probably is just a Schwarber type value player in the end (they’ll get there differently). Which is fine but the White Sox don’t have a KB, Rizzo, Willy or Javy to get away with that outcome from him. They need stars to really build something, him turning in to a 2-4 win Schwarber like player isn’t getting them to where they want to be. Since May 30th, Eloy is slashing .308/.366/.626/.993 with 8 HR's in a pretty nice 90 at-bat sample size. In the 116 AB's before this, he was slashing .207/.258/.379/.637 with 6 HR's. It's safe to say he's starting to figure something out. Eh he’s still striking out a lot (still almost 30%) and the batted ball data hasn’t changed a ton. His GB rate has gone up since then and FB/LD rate gone down, but he is hitting the ball harder. That’s certainly a nice slash line but it’s probably not overly sustainable.
  12. so is your point that schwarber is bad or that eloy is good? in any case, you are bad I think Eloy's age 22 season is a wash. As long as he shows constant improvement and develops, which he has; it'll be a successful season for him and the White Sox. It's just funny seeing people pretend Eloy is bad right now when he's putting up the same numbers as Schwarber's age 26 season. Yet everyone seems to defend Schwarber despite the fact that's appearing more and more like he's an average MLB player. 13. I can’t remember them pitching out a single time this year. Yeah it's just something they don't do. They knew he was gonna steal, had a mound meeting about it, and did absolutely nothing to prevent it.I mean if Descalso doesn’t field the throw 2 feet in front of the base like a little leaguer and instead fields it at the bag like a professional should they might have thrown him out
  14. I think Hamels will get in once pitchers are announced but obviously won’t play. Pitchers were already announced online. No Cole Disappointed Hendricks injury probably cost him a spot. Don’t really know if this is true but he’s gotta be the best active starter to have never made an all star game Ah, got it. Missed that. Agree on your latter comment, Hendricks has to be the guy for that “accolade.”
  15. I think Hamels will get in once pitchers are announced but obviously won’t play.
  16. Figure out a way to win 4 of the final 6 and go in to the break with a little confidence
  17. No he sucks and the regression monster is lurking around the corner on him. He has a ridiculously low BABIP against him and isn’t striking enough guys out that maybe he can keep it up and giving up the most hard contact of his career. He has 31 K's in 35 IP and a WHIP of 0.829. His FIP is 3.75. It's fine to not like the guy, but to completely ignore the numbers is silly 31Ks In 35 innings is nothing special, the WHIP is not sustainable, he’s getting lucky on a lot of the surface numbers and the underlying stuff is concerning (like I mentioned he’s giving up a ton of hard contact). But he’s done well so far this year, I’m glad he has and hope he continues. I think he’s going to hit a rough patch soon and I’m fine with trying Maples in that spot over Mr. Contact Manager.
  18. I’m not going to be upset over using Maples when Kintzler is the alternative. Maples has deserved some looks here, he’s been doing well in Iowa. And Kintzler has all the numbers to prove that he's better than you say he is No he sucks and the regression monster is lurking around the corner on him. He has a ridiculously low BABIP against him and isn’t striking enough guys out that maybe he can keep it up and giving up the most hard contact of his career. Maples still has ridiculous potential and was doing better in iowa on the things he needs to improve. It was worth giving him a shot there.
  19. Kintzler sucks, don’t let the surface numbers deceive you. He also pitched in 3 of the 4 Braves games. So he's had 2 days off. And Maples sucks every way you look at him I’m not going to be upset over using Maples when Kintzler is the alternative. Maples has deserved some looks here, he’s been doing well in Iowa.
  20. Kintzler sucks, don’t let the surface numbers deceive you. He also pitched in 3 of the 4 Braves games.
  21. FFS Descalso, what are you doing fielding that 2 feet in front of the base. That’s little league horsefeathers.
  22. White Sox are calling up Cease, he’s starting Wednesday. His AAA numbers seem pretty mediocre and he still seems like a guy who’s more likely to end up in the pen, but I’m interested to see how he does.
