  2. My favorite part is that it's hard to imagine them having the chips to land Stroman over the Twins without giving up Hiura. Pretty much any other SP they might grab is a non-threat barring some surprise Yeah they’re gonna have to give up Hiura for anything material. They don’t have the horses to get a Stroman, Boyd, Thor, Bauer, etc without him. Wheeler or Minor are probably the best they can do, but Minor makes real money and Wheeler is hurt.
  3. :flythew: Seems like a bigger win than just 1 game. Good work fellas. They’re close to being on a big heater. Make trades, Theo.
  4. The like 5% of lineups mattering they’re horsefeathering up tremendously.
  5. horsefeathers this scumbag
  6. The Orioles have 11 players this year that have a higher wRC+ than Almora (min. 88 PAs, but like 8-9 have well over 100).
  7. I get doing it for a guy like Rizzo, but what does he think Almora gets boosted to? He just sucks.
  8. Lost in the Almora leading off thing is that Javy probably shouldn’t be hitting second. He’s not getting on base, put him behind the guys who do to maximize the damage he can do.
  9. I’m more pissed at Theo than Joe at this point, production over potential my ass.
  10. Yeah his early 2018 was very BABIP driven and not sustainable. Tons of GB, little hard contact and he’s obviously slow. You can find the splits easily on fangraphs. Just literally go to Splits tab and hit 2018 and scroll down, it has batted ball data by month.
  11. He had 1000 PA as roughly a league average hitter prior to this season. I know a lot of people are predisposed to dislike Almora because he swings too much and therefore doesn't walk or hit for a ton of power, but he was a perfectly fine role player for multiple years until his struggles this year. That could be a blip and it could be him finally getting figured out for good, but scoffing at the idea that he's ever been useful is silly. He hasn’t been a good hitter, and anything resembling one, going back to last year around mid-June or so to date.
  12. Did they, though? I wouldn't be surprised if they did, but I don't recall that being one of their big talking points early on. Yeah I don’t remember that at all and their actions certainly haven’t really backed it.
  13. Sounds like he’s either on his way back up (for Randy I’d suspect) or has been cut
  14. That is being exceedingly harsh to Corey Patterson, who put up a 2.5 WAR in half a season followed by a 5 WAR season, and then another 3.8 WAR season for the Orioles. The odds of Almora ever reaching Patterson's 10.9 career WAR is like 100 to 1. I think that's being exceedingly harsh to Almora, given that his WAR through his first three seasons was a little higher than Patterson's at the same point. There's probably a reasonably good chance that his career WAR will be higher if he sticks around awhile, not by having a few big years but by consistently posting WARS in the .7-1 range for a dozen years or so. But that's all really beside the point. I wasn't comparing the talent of the players - please note the "without the upside potential" part of my comment - but rather comparing the situations. We spent six years waiting for Patterson to develop into a consistently valuable player, and now we're doing the same with Almora. Patterson did develop in to that player, then he got Dusty’d and also had a catastrophic/career altering knee injury. Almora doesn’t have a chance. Patterson also had some decent minor league numbers to fall back on, Almora does not.
  15. The Tigers have 7 wins since June 1, which is roughly 130 loss pace.
  16. Every starting pitcher has had a quality start in the first 6 games after the break, keep doing that and keeping us in games. Please.
  17. Especially because he won’t be PH for ever later in the game if there’s a big spot, because defense.
